So... I guess now all the films produced by the Weinstein Company will be cancelled. Oprah specials and aftershows will follow, with SA victims in the audience, calling the world to cancel Hollywood. Gayle pressing questions to her guests connected to Weinstein (ca. half of Hollywood) about what they knew. The Simpsons removing their shows referencing films by his company. Zoe Krawitz and her snobs refusing to sell soundtracks to his films and lecturing their clients about it. HBO doing a show "Leaving Hollywood" with Kew Media (oops, sorry, not with them anymore). Infinite number of opinion pieces will be produced by that whatshername from The Guardian. Etc.

Charles Thomson made a mini-thread about Simon Warr’s story of being falsely accused:

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1231196691212181504.html

Recommended reading for everyone here.

A BBC article about him with a little interview snippet. It's heartbreaking what he went through. :(

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-51619758

Simon Warr false abuse claims worse than fatal diagnoses

A BBC broadcaster has spoken of how receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis was not as bad as he found being falsely accused of child sex abuse.

Former teacher Simon Warr, 65, died from pancreatic and liver cancer.

He was accused of child sex offences in 2012 but was later cleared.

Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk in the week before he died, he said the accusations led to the "worst period of my life" and he thought the "stress and anxiety" might have caused his cancers.

Warr, who appeared on Channel 4's That'll Teach 'Em, said it was too late to undergo treatment by the time he was diagnosed on New Year's Eve.

He said it came as a shock because he had led a healthy lifestyle and was "extremely fit" for his age.

Warr said it was unknown for how long he had had the "hidden cancer" but doctors had asked whether he had experienced any recent trauma.

He said the false allegations "caused me years of anxiety and strife, almost drove me to the cusp of suicide".

Warr, who often appeared on BBC Radio Suffolk, said: "When I die, it still won't be as bad as that."

He added: "I was in a more of a distressed state then than I am now because the difference is when you're accused of child abuse it takes away everything you have worked for; it strips you bare.

"A lot of people don't wait for verdicts; don't wait for outcomes of these things. You get disgusting messages sent to you. It is awful."

Warr was cleared of the charges when a jury returned a not guilty verdict within 30 minutes.

He said the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) then undertook its own investigation, that took until February 2015, followed by a separate investigation by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).

Warr, who was cleared by all investigations in July 2016, said he wanted to be remembered as a "figure of fun" and said meeting Dawn French on The One Show, on which he dressed as a headmaster, was one of the highlights of his life.

A while ago I read that Weinstein had his people put false stories about MJ in the media to get attention away from him. What a piece of trash, nothing new but that's extra messed up.

As for that news about The Sun, music to my ears. I hope they go down.

People love the ''Michael Jackson paid money to avoid prison in 1993'' argument. Guess what? Harvey Weinstein also paid a settlement and he was still found guilty. So people can stop with the b.s argument that you can pay your way out of prison, because Weinstein's case as just shown that isn't true at all.

The info comes from an investigative article by the NYT: Weinstein’s Complicity Machine (2017)

Mr. Benza, then between jobs, had a suggestion. “I could supply your P.R. girls with a lot of gossip — a lot of stories — and if people come at them with the ‘Harvey’s having an affair story,’ they can barter,” Mr. Benza recalled telling Mr. Weinstein. “He said, ‘A. J., it’s got to be good stories,’ and I said, ‘Don’t you worry about it.’”

Collecting a monthly retainer, Mr. Benza said, he reported items on Roger Clemens, Michael Jackson and others and sent them to Mr. Weinstein’s communications team, though he didn’t know whether they were used to trade away stories about the producer.

Too bad they forgot about their own findings and let Weinstein and co. repeat the trick last year: certainly it wasn't a coincidence that Untouchable was overshadowed by LN. Mission accomplished, thanks, Oprah and the blue ticks!

Among other things. It is in this article from 2017 but turns out he wasn’t untouchable after all even though I think his sentence will probably be short. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/12/05/us/harvey-weinstein-complicity.html

:D @ posting the same article at the same time.

Justice was served finally but I still think he was as untouchable as one could be, and pulled the strings and used his connections for way too long (even after being publicly exposed).

This thread has turned into a dumping ground for all kinds of things unrelated to LN. If you want to continue discussions regarding other abuse cases like Weinstein, etc., please make separate threads for them.

Did ya'll see that shit with Snoop at that show of Jada Pinkett Smith? Pathetic! So because he was going off on Gayle he was also going off at Jada? That woman is nuts. But it all makes sense, she's friends with HOprah and I'm sure with Gayle too. I like Will Smith but his wife is coocoo for cocopuffs.

I dont understand why jada got so cut up bout whart snoop said it wasnt directed to her so she needs to stfu

The victims were happy for their victory over Weinstein and they should be. But still I cannot trust that MeToo movement, that movement is nothing but an epidemic just like CancelMJ (which is WEAK) and CancelCulture, a disease.

Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance in London to sue The Sun.

See, this is what I want to see from the estate too, from the Jacksons. I don't believe they are powerless in this.

They are. Michael Jackson is dead. Johnny Depp is alive. There's no slander law for the dead.

For me, all MeToo does is shifting the guilt onto everyone except the real culprits. It's not general public's fault that Weinstein got away with his dusgusting behaviour for years, but they try to paint it as something that's prevalent everywhere when the problem were celebrities and other producers that enabled and encouraged him. Everyone at Hollywood knew so why did they keep quiet? Besides, all you need to know about the advocates of movement is their stance on Polanski before 2016. A convicted rapist was hailed as extraordinary artist and apparently that's enough to let him get away scot free. Only when it was fashionable to condemn sexual harassment celebrities started speaking out against him. Their word is worthless, it's all about publicity and what will score them some popularity points

Variety is reporting that the producers of Leaving Neverland ' have taken back the rights to the film'. (It was previously reported that Reed's lawyers had written to Kew Media with a view to taking back the rights).

‘Baroness Von Sketch Show’ Producer Buys Back Company from Embattled Kew Media Group

Frantic Films founder Jamie Brown has personally financed the deal to reacquire 100% ownership of the firm, which was bought by Kew in March 2017. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed..............

.......In a massive buying spree, Kew Media Group snapped up several prominent Canadian production companies for CAD$104 million ($78 million), including Frantic Films, Bristow Global Media and Our House Media, as well as London-based film and TV distributor Content Media and, later, factual distribution firm TCB Media. It also took stakes in a number of outfits, such as Two Rivers Media and Awesome Media.

However, most of its production portfolio is now looking to exit the firm ahead of a court decision next month that could see the company liquidated and all remaining assets sold.

Two Rivers bought back Kew’s stake in the business last month, while it is understood that Awesome is also courting offers from various investors. Meanwhile, TCB is trying to extricate itself from Kew Media Group as well, and is far along in the process of navigating a new deal that could even see owner Paul Heaney buying back the company himself.

As revealed by Variety last month, among the filmmakers affected by Kew’s implosion was the team behind “Leaving Neverland,” who were heavily out of pocket. Producers have since taken back rights to the film.

Robson, Safechuck, Reed, Kew – they all tried to throw MJ under the bus for nothing but money. I can’t wrap my head around how these people sleep at night. Since they don’t seem to care at all about how they hurt literally millions of people, I hope that their financial downfall will hit them hard. Money seems to be the only language they understand, and I hope they learn their lesson well.

Nobody even cares about what Polanski did, I do care what he did and he should've been jailed a long time ago, but NO, nobody even cared. And I keep saying that MeToo used victims as pawns for the gain of the spotlight, which is why I don't trust it, especially if they used it against Michael.

Polanski got a freaking standing ovation at an award show not so long back. And I'm willing to bet that many of the people giving him that standing ovation were the same people who were happy to throw Michael under the bus

This is why I never pay attention to what ''woke'' Hollywood as to say because they're all a bunch of hypocrites

I'm starting to think Hollywood are a bunch of phony saps. I'd name every person on my H8T list were enjoys throwing Michael under the bus and I will throw em' under the bus right back at em' for it.

I think it was in 2003 for The Pianist, so way before the me-too movement, but I agree some of them are the same who are now very woke and very outraged and want to cancel others left and right (maybe fearing they will be next?...).

Polanski's case happened 40 years ago and it was quite hard to ignore because he couldn't even take his Oscar as he would have been arrested in the US, but almost everyone in cinema world managed to overlook it and act like it wasn't strange at all. Then me-too came and the same people are oh so suprised and furious - yeah, completely believable.

I don't think it's a coincidence that a shady company and a shady director were chosen to do the job, they were less likely to back out from this shady task.
