Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

Unbelievable! Does the estate have no influence in backdoor dealings, when these 2 bit idiots can buy awards so easy? In the current climate, that too with BLM everywhere - how dare they go and award a movie full of unsubstantiated lies against a black man under a "factual" category? They should create some noise so this doesnt keep happening. ridiculous.

The actual BAFTAs were back in February, this appears to be BAFTA Lite for technical awards.

Basically, no one cares!
 
Right now, I feel like it’s actually an advantage that the media don’t talk about Square One. It spreads like wildfire because everyone loves to be in on a secret. A lot of talk about Square One under the BAFTA hashtags last night. :laughing:
 
So they buy awards in order to feel like they win. lol. they know they lying and are losers no matter the papers says. like old saying action speak more then words.

No, Bafta has separate awards for Film, TV , games etc.

These were the main TV awards (including eg. Best Actress, Best Actor etc.)

There was a separate pre-award show 2 weeks ago for TV 'technical' merit eg best Producer, Editor etc.

Usually Bafta TV awards would be awarded earlier in the year, but they were delayed this year because of the coronavirus- eg to enable most nominees to film their own acceptance speeches at home.

The Bafta Film awards ceremony was held in February. It was sponsored by EE among others.

The Bafta TV awards were sponsored by Virgin Media, so they are something else to bear in mind when copying people into protests.

I agree. why the heck this keep happening? is it because michael black and the media racist and hates michael? (which already explains alot of things. so not really something new.) it's needs to stop. lies been exposed already and everything and they still going after it....

Thanks. Didnt realise they had awards for tv shows ect. The only time it gets real publicity is for the film awards.
 
You have to have an interest in those awards ceremonies to know about them in the first place. Before LN, I wouldn&#8217;t have been able to tell what a BAFTA was. As far as I&#8217;m concerned, a BAFTA might as well have been a Scandinavian chocolate wafer.
 
Baftas are well known in the U.K. establishments night out. Back in the day
Around 2000 supposedly mj planned to go with liz taylor as she was on the board/judges.they got lots of reports on the news shows this morn. Whether L.N was mentioned i dunno as i turned it off everytime it was mentioned

I see. So, it&#8217;s a similar situation as with the Bambi-Award here in Germany. I bet you wouldn&#8217;t know it existed if MJ hadn&#8217;t won one in 2002. :)
 
We tend to zoom in on those small, local events. I haven&#8217;t heard of LN winning any awards in Germany, France, or Italy. Or in India. Or in Japan. Or in Russia. Or in Brazil, Argentina, or Bolivia. Or in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya or anywhere else on the African continent. There are just a handful off corrupt jurors in the UK and USA, and that&#8217;s pretty much it.

Reed and his doc. team are all British, as are his originating 'sponsors' (Channel 4 TV). It's unlikely that an English-language, largely British-made TV programme would win any TV awards in Europe- especially given Brexit this year- or indeed anywhere else unless they have awards for 'international TV programmes' (where anything British is generally viewed as 'colonial' or worse). Most TV award systems seem to concentrate on their home-grown industries.

That&#8217;s true. So it&#8217;s a very local issue that the rest of the world doesn&#8217;t care about. Some corrupt Brits patting each other on the back. These people like to pretend they&#8217;re the center of the world, but that&#8217;s far from the truth.

Middle class white establishment figures.the uk media andthose who run it have a sick obsession with mj. As someone now living in mainland europe and seeing how the local media treat mj the obsession is even more obvious

Yep, things are much calmer here on the continent.

I think, one of the reasons for some of the vicious attacks is that in the eyes of the white British establishment, MJ was hanging out with the wrong people. His friendship with Mohamed Al-Fayed certainly didn&#8217;t win him any bonus points.

If you&#8217;re an anti-racist like MJ, you&#8217;re automatically calling out the elephant in the room, just by who you are and the people you hang out with. People with racist tendencies will feel attacked just by your presence.

But that&#8217;s taking it a bit offtopic, I guess. Just a thought that I had with my morning coffee.
 
Awards shows are a joke now. they mostly all rigged now. that why me and my mom don't watch them anymore. i think actually winning something days are gone. really sad. :no:

You are correct. It is like MJ is their bread and butter to talk about in order to stay afloat and make money; otherwise, they make much of nothing. This is going to backfire on them.

This was going on way before MJ was around him in the UK media even before the accusations. I remember 1986 when it became known MJ brought the Beatles catalog.
