watched it yesterday. it's amazing how it's abstract, yet connected at the same time. im still discovering new things about it all these years later. there are so many subliminal messages and theories that continue the conversation. that's how the art lives on :)

I find 'billie jean' to be Michael's most compelling piece. there are so many layers to it. Michael expresses so much as an actor without saying a word. it was the first time that we got to see his mysterious side. he was cool and smooth. that dance section might as well have taken place on a catwalk (with the flash photography to boot). yet we saw the anguish and fear written on his face, as he denied any wrong-doing and made his way to the motel. there's almost a cartoonish element to it. with the detective constantly setting traps for Michael, only for them to backfire as Michael escapes them. my favourite is the illusion of Michael disappearing from the bed. Michael spoke about dancing being about instincts; you got a sense that he knew he was being watched the entire time. I relate it to 'human nature' with the line 'electric eyes are everywhere'. it's a faint thread on the 'thriller' songs. what I love most is that the focus is solely on Michael. he literally brings colour to the picture from the moment he steps foot into the frame. 'billie jean' is a unique stand-out overall, and my favourite :)
