Pictures / News from Forest Lawn 2012

People worldwide have extremely different habits on the whole 'how to act in a cemetery'. My relatives eat candy by each grave they visit and on Easter it wouldn't be unheard of to have entire picnics by a graveside and to conveniently sit on the burial plot for seating- not to desecrate- but to include and honor. They'll crack some hard boiled eggs right there and salt 'em sitting on the grave of their loved ones.

For other people a visit to a cemetery would include the very loud and AUDIBLE lamentation that reaches a state that others would describe as 'hysterical looking'.
For some to be dancing might be offensive - it might be their way to express what they otherwise can't say.

Am I personally in favor of dance offs in MJ garb? Not really, since the whole impersonator thing isn't my cup of tea at all to begin with- however, my culturally marked feeling of discomfort is NOT the universal standard of appropriateness and doesn't mean my cultural norms have to be 'honored' by everyone else who comes with the same idea in mind- love and honor MJ.
For many people it's custom to burn incense at a grave- while that may seem totally inappropriate to some as well.

And lastly- LA is a universe in itself. If people think impersonators are a bit much- try Muscle Beach, lol.

And- we're talking about honoring the man who against convention managed to jump onto his SUV and encouraged his camera man to get a good shot of things. Now- what were his intentions? Dishonor the judge in the courthouse? Thank his fans?
I would be very careful judging, just because someone's gesture might be hard to interpret.

It's beautiful. You can tell the time and effort that people put into their cards and displays and all the flowers. L.O.V.E for Michael.

This is a beautiful thread...thank you guys for posting the video's and pics..I am still crying...sigh...it never gets easier. :boohoo:

The pictures are so beautful as well as the sentiment and love behind every gift, card and flower. There is NO ONE in this world that get that amount of love and attention from all over the world.. and that bring so much joy to my heart to see that. Regardless of the garbage the media may print it is very clear that... THE WORLD LOVES MICHAEL JACKSON

It's not just the big floral displays that get to me, it's every little card, small gift, poems etc all from the heart. Michael must feel this love even up in heaven.

I teared up going through the last page. That one letter just got to me :( Thanks for all the photos.

Did any people believe that, the picture with him and Michael were real? lol

This is the original picture :p

Oh well, a little photoshopping won't do any harm:D

does anyone know if there was silence at 2:26 this year?
also what happens to all the stuff (apart from the roses) left outside, does it get taken inside at any point?
does anyone else agree that there seems like there were more people this year than last year? I remember the footage of people holding hands last year and there didnt seem to be as many..

^^ I was wondering the same thing...in 2010, for Michael's birthday, I had a friend bring some sunflowers and a letter I wrote for him to Forest Lawn, so I am wondering where all of that stuff goes

wow !! thank you for these beautiful pics, even if I cried during all the thread - I sent my roses via One Rose and I am very grateful they allow to pay homage to our angel for those who can't be there - I hope, one day, I would bring them myself ...

Michael's fans in Israel also sent flowers to his grave. this is what we sent this year:
