Madonna Appreciation thread - For fans

^ Madonna's working very hard on the new tour so I imagine we'll see some really cool stuff. I bet it will be her most energetic tour yet.

Have you bought your ticket? :shifty: I bought mine yesterday!!! :woohoo:
kermit.gif

^ Yes, I got mine pre-sale. I'll be seeing her in October.

The Brazilian pre-sale in favor of her fan club was suspended and the company selling the tickets fined, because it's considered illegal to privilege a group of customers. Everyone must have the same right to buy the tickets.

I don't see why it would be considered illegal being that everyone has the very same opportunity to be a part of her official fan club or not. If you are and pay for a membership, then why not reap the benefits? It's perfectly fair.

I'm also going to see her live! :woohoo:
I'm going to her Florence concert in June. I've actually wanted to go to only one concert of hers (I can't afford a second concert on my own as I'm studying right now), but for my birthday I've got tickets for her Zurich concert in August too, so I'm going to see her twice!
I can't wait, it's my first time I will see her live! :jump:

Too bad I can't afford and have the time to go to one Immortal show, though...

@ Travis and Ashtanga: Which kind of seats did you guys get?

Middle section. I can't afford front row. -_- ... But it will still be amazing. :woohoo:

Anyhoo...

So...

On to Madonna's Truth or Dare perfume...

I bought it. I couldn't help myself. I wanted the bottle and bags. The tote is actually very nice as is the gift bag. Total class. The fragrance itself is also super classy and high society. I imagine this is what it smells like to be Madonna. To be honest, at first, I didn't like the smell of it but after a few minutes it became really lovely, light and yet intoxicating. I've heard some a-holes say it smells like old lady but that couldn't be any further from the truth. I think it's really sweet she did this in honor of the memory of her mother's scent. I hope that she does a future mens line as well.

Garbage star Shirley Manson has hit out at the public's obsession with Madonna's ageing process.

The Scottish singer can't understand why there is so much focus on the 52-year-old pop star's image, and she was shocked when she saw close-ups of Madonna's wrinkly hands.

Manson tells Bullett Media, "The tabloids complain about Madonna looking old, and people laugh at her for that. Then Madonna goes and fixes her face, and they laugh at her for that. Even though they begrudgingly say she looks amazing, they'll still laugh at her for trying to look young.

"Then she steps out, looking amazing, and the tabloids go and blow up a picture of her ageing hand. Nobody's doing that to George Clooney, blowing up pictures of his hands!

"I look at these magazines, and I want to say to them, 'What's your point? That she's aged? Does that surprise you? Or is your 'point' an attempt to undercut what she's achieved?' I think it is, even if it's on a subconscious level... And you probably wouldn't turn down those hands if they were grabbing you under the table, you f**king idiots!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm glad someone is speaking out and I hope more do. It's incredibly sexist and ageist of the media and society in general and it really needs to stop. Why are people so threatened by this woman? Why must so many try to cut her down? Madonna is damned if she does and damned if she don't.

It took me awhile to get into MDNA, but I'm really liking it. Some killer tracks on it.

I like Madonna's "MDNA" album. But I think there needs to be a major new promotion campaign for this album during her tour, like album/tour promo TV spots and a few decent music videos that she could make during breaks in the tour. And she should release "Masterpiece" as a video-only single at least for the music media TV programs. I think the album was probably a promotional item for her upcoming concerts. But I also think that the album could have still had a longer decent showing on the album sales charts if the promotional campaign before the tour had been stronger. I hope that her album sales improve with this tour though.

^ Just as I suspected, Madonna is selling better everywhere else. MDNA is currently the #2 best selling album worldwide but with a little promotion could uptick in the US. The album isn't dead, it just need a little thing called PR. I'm still dumbfounded as to why Madonna chose to concentrate solely on the tour. Unless she has something up her sleeve (and she may), I'll forever be confused about the MDNA era which started so strongly with the Super Bowl and critical praise.

I just searched the previous pages and noticed that her Girl Gone Wild video wasn't even posted yet...So, for anyone who missed it:

:D

By the way, time to UPDATE this thread! New rehearsal pictures of her MDNA tour were posted on FB :wild:

Those were all

Her first concert will be on May 31 in Tel Aviv. Then, she will go to Abu Dhabi for 2 concerts and to Istanbul for another concert in early June, and the European leg of the tour will start on 12 June in Rom. It will last until the end of august, after that she'll be in America until November and then she'll go to South America in December. It's highly possible her tour will come to Australia in spring 2013 too :D

I can't wait, I think it's going to be amazing :woohoo:

^ Looks really really good. Rumor is Madonna is doing an "Express Yourself/Born This Way" mash-up. I hope it's true, it will be a really smart move/PR stunt.

I agree. I also think that she got involved in too many projects at the same time. I notice that she was working on her tour, making the album, promoting the "W.E." movie, creating her perfume and dealing with other things. And even though I like the "MDNA" album, i still think that it would have done great in the U.S. market if she had chosen better singles. "Give Me All Your Lovin" was weak as a single to launch the album, in my opinion. I am disappointed in how this album did on the charts. Because now Madonna is getting written off left and right as a has-been. And as one of the world's greatest female musicians, she doesn't need that kind of negative public perception. But I have no doubt that her tour is going to be a success though.

AMAZING! :clapping:

I think this may become one of her best tours. Everyone working on the show is saying Madonna is in top form.

Those pics look great. I wonder what song the first ones are from. Die Another Day maybe? (I love that).

I'm starting to regret not getting tickets. I'm 'luvin' MDNA.

Nope, Die Another Day won't be played. Supposedly, it's for Gang Bang. The complete setlist has leaked by the way, but I'm not sure if I should post it here because it may spoil the show for those who are going to her concerts (Travis and Ash).

I'm used to that sort of thing though. Even when Madonna is doing well on the charts she is written off as a has-been by someone or other. Usually the fans of younger artists like Lady Gaga. Actually, Gaga's fans are the most vile creatures I've ever encountered, which is rather ironic given her message of equality and love. Anyhoo, Madonna, although hugely successful, has always been a bit of an underdog and I like it that way. Of course I enjoy chart success when it happens but I've come to terms with the fact the industry she is in is sexist and ageist against women - ESPECIALLY Madonna. Remember the Superbowl? The general public LOVED it and so did much of the media but the criticism that did exist all centered around the fact that she is a 53 year old woman. As fans, we gotta bite the bullet and know that it's only going to get worse as time goes by (until she passes... God forbid... then they'll kiss her ass) and just enjoy what she is giving us because we aren't promised tomorrow. MJ taught me every lesson I've ever needed to learn when it comes to this sort of thing. So, yeah, let's enjoy what we've got because when you look at things "big picture", you see that things aren't so bad. Madonna has come off the biggest and most viewered Superbowl performance ever, set iTunes records with MDNA presales, has a #1 album, a top 10 hit (incredibly short-lived I know), and is about to put on what looks to be one of her best tours EVER. Life is good. :beach:

I'm just looking forward to the tour and the amazing photos that were just posted have me even more psyched than I already was. Wow!:woohoo:

I've seen the setlist :shifty: .... This:

Act of Contrition

Revolver

Papa Don’t Preach (edit)
Hung Up (MDNA remix)
I Don’t Give A (rock remix)
Best Friend/Heartbeat (interlude)
Express Yourself (meets Born This Way)
Turn Up the Radio
Give Me All Your Luvin’ (Just Blaze remix)
Open Your Heart (meets Sagarra Jo by Kalakan)
Masterpiece (featuring Kalakan)
Justify My Love (William Orbit remix -interlude)
Vogue
Candy Shop
Human Nature
Like a Virgin
Nobody Knows Me (interlude)
I’m Addicted
I’m a Sinner (meets Cyberraga)
Like a Prayer
Celebration

:fear:

Now, Madonna's rehearsing in Tel Aviv! :woohoo:

Her moves in "Vogue" and "Erotica" are amazing!

Also, a bit of controversy is doing the rounds now because in Express Yourself, Madonna is singing a short part of Gaga's Born This Way (this was the song which allegedly ripped-off Express Yourself) and after that, Madonna's shouting "She's not me". So it's obvious she's making a hint at Gaga ripping her off. I'm not sure if this was necessary (she already said her opinion on Gaga in that interview back in January with the "Reductive" comment), but at least Madonna's message is true (in my eyes).

Here's a video:

And yep, the setlist Ash posted is correct, although it isn't complete. Also, Madonna is featuring a band in her show called "Kalakan" (this is their music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD-6t-qxw6k&feature=related) who will sing with her in some songs.
Here's the complete setlist:

Act I: Transgression
Religious Intro (religious chants with a prayer and a spoken Act Of Contrition)
Girl Gone Wild (featuring lyrics of Material Girl)
Revolver
Gang Bang
Papa Don't Preach (only a 90 seconds performance)
Hung Up (reworked version)
I Don't Give A

Act II: Prophecy
Best Friend / Heartbeat (Video interlude)
Express Yourself (featuring Gaga's Born This Way and "She's not me" chants)
Give Me All Your Luvin'
Turn Up The Radio
Open Your Heart (reworked version)
Masterpiece

Act III. Masculine/Feminine
Justify My Love (video interlude with a reworked version)
Vogue
Candy Shop (mashed up with Erotica)
Human Nature
Like A Virgin (new piano version)

Act IV: Redemption
Nobody Knows Me (video interlude)
I'm Addicted
I'm A Sinner (mashed up with Cyberraga)
Like A Prayer
Celebration

Madonna will start her tour on Thursday!

I do not really like the setlist. :fear: Madonna has other wonderful songs that could be on the setlist. And I also did not like the new pictures/costumes that were released this week. :fear: I thought it was very poor compared with what Madonna has done in the past. BUT I will wait for the debut show in Tel Aviv... I might change my mind. :fear:

I don't like her cheerleader costume in GMYAL/Express Yourself neither. But you have to admit that she's got a lot of energy this time around! Also, the show seems to be much more inspired than the last one.

The Gang Bang performance is awesome, she hasn't done a performance with a real set since years!

The Erotica performance looks great, too!

And look at her moves from 0:34 to 0:50, she really is full of energy:

And keep in mind those are all rehearsals, the full scale of the production can only be seen when the actual concerts will take place. So I'm still very excited for the opening show tomorrow! :clapping:

^ Damn impressive choreography. Say what ya want about Madonna, but she can still move and possibly better than ever.

I do not really have an opinion :fear: .... I will expect the first show. Will certainly have a lot of videos on youtube! :wild:

Absolutely!

Pictures and vids of Madonna's sold out opening night in Tel Aviv:

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree that the MDNA tour is like the Sticky & Sweet Tour. Yes, the cheerleader costume looks bad, but everything else is amazing. The Nobody Knows Me interlude is one of the best things she has ever done, so is the Justify My Love Interlude. And the opening is very typical of Madonna, very provocative!

From the videos I've seen so far her tour looks very impressive.
I didn't really pay atention to her other tours from the last 10 years so I can't really compare (Only saw "blonde ambition tour" in full really and pieces of "the girlie show" ;)), but the visuals this time are incredible and I love that she is doing human nature.
That Nobody knows me interlude is really great too.
In fact I'm almost tempted to go (for the first time really) but I can't cause on the date she is here I'm on vacation.
I hope she does really well with this tour. I hate how people are turning on her for dumb things like her age. How superficial.
