Since their brother Michael passed away in June 2009, there has been persistent talk of a full-scale Jacksons tour, with the surviving Jackson brothers on board performing their collective hits and the hits of brother Jermaine.

Today the iconic sibling group -- Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito Jackson -- announced a full-scale national tour, with a Houston date July 14 at Bayou Music Center, formerly Verizon Wireless Theater.

Armed with their bedrock Jackson 5 hits, Jacksons work, and Jermaine Jackson's hit solo cuts, the group's "Unity Tour" marks their first tour in nearly three decades. That last tour in support of 1984's Victory album was a highly successful outing, with the group playing in front of more than 2.5 million screaming fans.

The Victory tour and the Jacksons stopped at the Astrodome for two days on November 9 and 10, 1984. The group's entire Dallas set from that tour is here on YouTube.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, at the usual outlets: livenation.com, "most" Houston-area Randall's stores, 1-866-4HOUTIX (446-8849) and the Bayou Music Center Box Office.

Shame they didnt do this years ago and understand that no ment no. now it just looks like a tacky cash in cause they have realised the reunion dream is finally over so they might aswell go for it after the years of hassling mj

I hope I don't offend anyone but I feel Michael was the heart of the group and it won't be the same without him. I am not putting down the brothers it's just different.

I think this is great news. Personally, I'd love to see the brothers perform one more time. The only thing that put me off was the remark about performing "Jacksons work" at the tour. While I don't have a problem with any of the brothers doing Mikes vocals on their collective material, It'll just seem wrong to me if they are gonna do Michael's solo songs on a tour that (for obvious reasons) doesn't include him. It'll just seem natural to me that such a tour shuld focus on Jacksons material from the late 70's and onward, and perhaps especially on songs from 2300 Jackson St.

Point is, I'd gladly pay to see Randy sing Can You Feel It and Jermine do Shake Your Body. But for Gods sake, do not let anyone near Billie Jean!

I guess jerm finally gets his chance to be lead singer. i find this totally insulting and disrespectful having others singing mjs parts.i guess they are hoping that those who never saw mj will take anything they can get.they better not touch his solo material as that will make them look even worse. At least they are only doing tiny venues instead of thinking they can sell out stadiums urgh im going to bed before i get p***** off even more than iam now.

I will go if Michael is the lead singer. He was always my favorite Jackson anyway, and the reason I loved the Jacksons/Jackson 5.

If the Jacksons take this seriously and work hard, it will work out well. What I fear is that this will be another Michael Jackson karaoke event. I really hope I am wrong.

I don't think they would be doing Michael's songs. They changed names from Jackson 5 to the Jacksons so I think they would do the songs they did when they were called the Jacksons I assume.

They need a good manager/producer to put this thing together for it to work. Remember the chaos of the Tribute in Wales--I hope they have a better team to put things together. Then they need a lead singer who can sing the songs Michael sang in the group. If I remember correctly from back in the day, Jermaine's pitch cannot handle the songs Michael sang very well. Jermaine needs songs that suit his voice. Maybe the whole group will sing together sort of like a choir. You all remember that in the reality show the song writers were asking the brothers who would sing the lead. Jermaine said he would and the writers did not say a word.

You can't offend anyone when what you state is the truth. Michael was the essence of the group, no one going to these shows will be getting anything more than a couple of guys singing some old songs, period.

I wish them the best though, but how successful it turns out to be remains to be seen.

Lawd....I can just see diva Jermaine now.....:cheeky:

BTW.....hopefully no one gets any bright ideas about doing MJ's solo material.......hear that Jermaine.....

I think they will try to sing at least 1 of his songs if they get permission, and claim that they are doing so to acknowledge him.

Andre I like your list, but the songs need a good powerful lead singer. I hope they can pull it off.

I think they will do well and I hope it is successful for them.. Why wouldnt I ?
I also think they will do a song or medley of MJ songs to honor him ..... Why wouldnt they "?
Just like MJ did a medley in his concerts to honor them. It would be rude if they didnt pay homage.

I must say some MJ fans comments make me feel very uneasy at times :(
There is nothign wrong or sinister with the brothers coming together to perform again.
I would be disapointed if they never did. .. We know it isnt goign to be the same without MJ
But they have talent and Im sure they will put on a good show for thier fans. Fans complained
they should do thier own thing and then when they do some still knock them. It is what it is ...
That being said I wont be attending. But I hope thier fans enjoy it.

Oh just let them get on with it, if they are happy in the knowledge that without Michael passing away nobody would be interested then good luck to them, at least they are making an effort to pay their own bills.

They should have done their own thing years ago when mj kept saying no. instead of waiting till he was dead and hope of a reunion over.ontop of cashing in on the renewed intrest like last tear says.

cant wait to see jerm in a fedora singing billie jean and seeing the kids dragged along to opening night in their unity t.shirts in order to get them some attention

They can honour Michael with putting up his photo on the wall while singing their Jackson 5 and The Jackson songs.

I do not want them to try to sing Michael's solo songs for obvious reasons.

Michael did pay homage to their Jackson 5 times in his concerts, but he never sung any Jermaine or other Jackson brother's solo songs in his concerts.
