I tweeted Warren Eagles about it and he answered:

"It was all filmed and edited but never released. Nobody seems to know where the masters are."

I hope Estate has them somewhere. It would be really shame it they are lost.

Filmed and edited? That means easy for release! Estate? Get some private detectives on it!

From day one they should have had a person traveling the world in search of everything like the guy who runs the Elvis legacy label. Making contact with collectors and dealers and buying up everything. It's a travesty if a professionally filmed Bad Tour 88 is sitting in some warehouse or basement rotting. Christ it will be seven years in the new year, they need to get on this stuff. They seem a lot more merchandise/marketing oriented than quality material oriented. They could easily do both.

^^ surely they can trace back information, but Patrick Kelley put all the BAD Tour films in Michael's warehouse once the tour concluded. They're somewhere, they just need to be categorized and sorted.. some of them may have partial/extreme damage.. considering the amount of reels you need for a 2 hour show, and it's not uncommon for sticky labels to fade.. it may be a few years yet.. just hope it's worth waiting for, if it ever comes.

^^I really hope they do. It is just not acceptable to have Bad 88 or 89 on film wasting away from dampness and dirt, fading from years of neglect and misplacement. I do hope they actually realise the historical value and importance of it all. I've seen some wonderful live concerts over the years on screen and attended, the likes of Prince, Madonna, Springsteen, Queen but MJ's Bad tour is still the greatest show on earth for so many of us. They also need to get the rights for Destiny, Triumph and Victory regardless of whether it's on film or not. Pay the Jacksons and pay whoever needs to be paid, just make the deal. Pay Pepsi if needs be for everything that was done with Pepsi and remaster all the commercials.

^^agreed 5000 percent. Add the kids' Forum concert to that list. Once the IRS stuff is over, maybe they can start spending money on quality archiving and rights.
I'd like to see the Variety shows released as well as an entire DVD of all of their tv performances on talk/variety shows.

Have you ever noticed for the most part that photos of bad tour occur during the first 3 songs of the show (I'm not talking about his personal photgrapher(s) ).
Press photographers are usually granted access to the front of stage to take pictures for the first 3 to 4 songs of concerts, and then escorted away.

I think 'Another Part Of Me' from the July 16th performance could have been shot on film after all.

If you look at the official music video @1:42 (the line:''We're bringing brighter days'')...

However, this is the only moment I could find that matches both performances. The rest is mostly July 22nd, Paris and Hamburg.

Excuse me for derailing this thread a little but I just watched the two early Tokyo shows and my goodness. MJ was literally on fire those nights. His vocals was 100% perfect and he was still dancing up a storm without compromising his live vocals. The band was so tight and seemed to be having so much fun. I really think that those early Japan shows are the best representation of MJ as a great live singer and dancer. I would love to see one of those shows in HD with a fresh multitrack mix.

^His vocals were better in 87 and that's a fact, but I still prefer the 88/89 shows from that tour.

I think the same. Michael is on fire, band is on fire. That's how Michael should be remembered as a live performer. Much better than any of the second leg shows where the playback starts to take over.

Would be great to see the Yokohama show on TV once in a while instead of that horrible MSN 2001 concert, which is the only one they show here from time to time. Of course that has to do with how rights are available to TV networks to show stuff.... but come on Estate/Sony.... it's no rocket science. That Yokohama show must be the easiest one to track down and remaster as it already was on TV. That said, what we need more urgent on TV of course would be Taj's docu series.

I dont think the estate would like anyone to find proof of july 16 being on film lol. We found a short news clip of WBSS thats HQ(compared to what we got). If it was, it would help explain the use of multitrack audio.

I agree. Bad tour first leg should be released in HQ. Red shirt would be epic. We know we have at least some songs shot on film. Some of the film crew said during the first leg they started with 1 35mm film camera then grew...

Yokohama should be broadcast imo. It was already edited for TV. The last mj concert I remember being shown here was Bucharest.

That's a great idea. I mean, why don't they just re broadcast Yokohama '87 some time?

LMAO. 4 songs. Exaggerated much? The setlist on the second leg was way better.

I have to agree with you.

The 4 songs that are lip-synched don't bother me at all. Plus the set list was indeed better on the second leg.

To be honest I don't think that his vocals necessarily got ''worse'', they were just more raspy.
I think it depends on what one prefers in terms of vocals.
Some people actually prefer the more raspy vocals while others prefer the cleaner vocals.

I prefer the 2nd leg of the tour because it has more songs from the BAD album. This is supposed to be the BAD Tour after all
