HISTORICAL DATES
1988 - Michael Jackson performs the first of two nights of BAD Tour concert at Eriksbergsvarvet, Gothenburg, Sweden
1999 - Michael Jackson meets with Sony executives in New York.
2002 - During his visit to London, Michael Jackson has dinner with Uri Geller and his family.
2003 - Michael Jackson returns to his hometown Gary, Indiana for the first time in 20 years. During a news conference with Gary Mayor Scott L. King, presented him with a Key to the city and announces Michael would partner with Mayor King to help develop a new Performing Arts Center in Lake County city to be known as the Michael J. Jackson Performing Arts Center.. Michael visits his childhood home and the Roosevelt High School, where the Jackson 5 performed in the 60’s. There, he tells students that "with a will of iron, with perseverance and determination they can do anything they want.” He is given presents and made an honorary Roosevelt graduate. Later in the evening he participates at the "Salute To The Troops”, an free event open to the public, where the troops were recognized.
2004 - Michael releases the following statement on hearing the news of the death of Ray Charles, who passed away yesterday: "I am saddened to hear of the death of my friend, Ray Charles. He was a true legend... an American Treasure. His music is timeless; his contributions to the music industry... unequalled; and his influence unparalleled. His caring and humility spoke volumes. He paved the way for so many of us, and I will forever remember him in my heart."
2012 -Thriller, Michael Jackson's tiger died of lung cancer at actress-activist Tippi Hedren’s Shambala wildlife preserve in California. Where her and her twin brother Sabu had enjoyed a peaceful life. Thriller was born on November 20, 1998, she was 13 years old.
2013 - Cirque du Soleil opens the sixth of ten nights of the Michael Jackson "THE IMMORTAL" Tour at the Osaka Jo Hall in Osaka, Japan.
