Are there any MJ lyrics that you misheard?

When I was younger, I thought these were the lyrics for Man In The Mirror

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no mustache could have been any cleaner

There's this one part in Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough where MJ goes "Ohhh let loove" (at 3.30) and it always sounded to me like he was going "Ohhh Hitlerrr" until someone pointed out what he was really saying :p

Dude I totally heard the mustache line in MITM too!

Some of my favorites:

"But the cheetahs mugged my son"
"No one wants your beef fajitas"
"I wanna barbecue"
"Why? Why? And then they give you this thing"

There are like dozensssss an old community I was part of back in the day had like a hundred macros of misheard lyrics and they were hilarious.

Don't Stop Til You Get Enough

Keep On
with the post box
don't stop til you get enough

In Don't Stop...I always heard Keep up with the boys/ Don't stop :)

Can You Feel It - The Jacksons

Michaels Verse

"No Yeeeeet!!! actually is "Now tell me!"

What's the story about in Sunset Driver?

All alone she's in the ego zone
The word is out that you're doing wrong
On the move got fire in your shoes
By word of mouth you are on the news

You're living on sunset time
(Uuh)

Feeling bad
You're living much too fast
The truth, the truth that you're on the pass
In the raw they don't know what you saw
From word of mouth you're breaking every law

[CHORUS]
Sunset Driver
Midnight rider
Friday's brighter
Morning rider
You're a Saturday nighter (aaw)

On the go
Got fever in your soul
You better not shout where you gonna go
Living hot, doing what you should not
The break is on me then what do you got
We're living on sunset time

(Want that dime)

Shoot the breeze
You feel that she's the tease
Your night is free what you wanna be
Who's to trust when living dangerous
Tonight is your night but this is what you loose

[CHORUS]
Sunset Driver
Midnight rider
Friday's brighter
Getting higher
You're a Saturday nighter (aaw)

(uuh)
(pah dah dah dah)

You are there when the night's in town
Standing there with the top of the round
They don't care about the things you used to say
You're like the cinema
You think there's nothing wrong

Going town
You do it every time
The word's got out that you're on the line
On the moon
Gotta fever in your shoes
The night's on you
What are you gonna do?

[CHORUS]
Sunset Driver
Midnight rider
Friday's brighter
Got to reach that driver
You're a Saturday nighter (aaw)

(pah dah dah dah dah)
(hee hee hee)
(aah) (pah dah dah)
(uuh)
(hee)
(uuh)
(hee)
(uuh)
(hee)

There are more. I shall find them.

I think the better question is, what MJ lyric haven't I heard wrong? I still to this day can never sing the proper "it's tough for them to get by" lyric from Black and White and I always sing "it's tough them to be." And English is my first language ... It was the first MJ song I learned as a kid, and I guess I just never shook the way I sang it when I was 5ish onwards :p

2nd time he says 'stop to notice' in Earth Song, to me it always sounds like 'doctor's notice'

In You Are Not Alone 'your burgers are the best'.

Bad: "Better show ya freeze,
in boat tstujguk
I'm telling you
on who asks the girl
gotta bunch of mine
dhkdjfhgcm"

Black or White:
"And I told em about the quality
of a jewel before you rock on your ride
...
It's tough to be yeah yeah yeah"

Billie Jean:
"But who can stand when she's in the man
hurts in the glans"

She Drives Me Wild:
"She's got that, she wanna know f***tion
she's got that look she's driving me up the wall"

Wanna Be Startin Something:
"You're a testicle you're a testicle"

There are many others but these are the ones which first come to mind

Probably only funny if you speak Dutch, but in Burn this disco out, 'there's a steam beat' sounds like 'ben een stinkdier' (meaning 'I'm a skunk' in Dutch) and I can't help but laugh every time I hear it

As long as I've been listening to MJ, I still don't know what all he's saying in Don't Stop Till You Get Enough tbh, I recently found out (by actually listening) what he says in the pre-hook on "Bad" and it gets me pumped. I never really look up lyrics to songs much, I think I should.

From "GHOSTS"

This is what I heard:
They put a knife in my back, shadow narrowing me!

What it should be:
They put a knife in my back, Shot an arrow in me!

I always thought he sweared at one point in Dangerous. I think it was the lines: You and your manipulation. You hurt my baby. I heard it as something like (excuse the language): You bitches. You turned my baby.

I've always wanted to ask Mike himself what he was singing in DSTYGE, too at this part:

"Keep on
With the force/don't stop (?)
Don't stop til you get enough..."

"If You Had A Barn, Then Scream Out To The World!!"
Actually it's...
"Lift Your Head Up High, And Scream Out To The World!!!"

It may be ‘keep up’ (instead of ‘keep on’).

To this day, I can't understand half the verses in "Tabloid Junkie". The choruses are great, but the rest is mostly unintelligible. I like the song's message, but the lack of clarity makes me wonder why Michael released it.

I think the whispered but also aggressive (at the same time) style of these verses is the first thing that captures the listener's attention.

I also cannot un-hear ...

Give In To Me

"It seems you get your kids from hurting me"

instead of: "It seems you get your kicks from hurting me"

At the end of Billie Jean, there is a misheard lyrics

I also think that was the point of the approach. He's exposing the lies and inner workings of a corrupt system but he's whispering it, intentionally making it unintelligible and indecipherable as if he is not really allowed to say this. Therein lies the true beauty of such a well thought out and executed song.

Really? I can hear and understand every word.
:chillin:
