There is an article in the New Yorker about how TMZ gets its information. They have the following re. MJ:

"...Five months after the Northern Trust story, Michael Jackson died. A first responder, upon arriving at Jackson’s house, called TMZ to tip off the site. (Ed Winter, the L.A. assistant chief coroner, is also a regular source, according to numerous former employees; Winter says that it is part of his job to speak to reporters.) TMZ confirmed the death through one of Jackson’s security guards and Jackson’s father, Joe, and broke the news eighteen minutes after Jackson stopped breathing."

why? his job is public information chief. so by definition, it is his job to respond to public inquiries.

It's the first responder who should be fired whoever he is. It is certainly not a part of HIS job to call tabloid media and inform them after arriving to the scene of a tragedy.

Sadly, that's how the world works. It's all about who is first, best, wealthiest. Greedy people go far.
