A new story suggest:

In 1987, Bubbles appeared in the singer’s video for his single Leave Me Alone, and sat in on the recording of Jackson’s Bad album.
Chaperoned by trainer Bob Dunn, he flew with Jackson around the world — quarantine rules permitting — for much of the marathon album tour. Although Jackson claimed he taught Bubbles to do the Moonwalk, Mr Dunn later admitted he did. Indeed, the trainer was clearly responsible for teaching Bubbles to do tricks.

A favourite with audiences was theatrically blocking his ears with his fingers at the mention of heavy metal music. Significantly, Mr Dunn said Bubbles was occasionally scared by the scale of crowds.

\
Animal experts were sought for advice and Michael’s sister La Toya said they were ‘highly disturbed’ at the way he was being treated. Bubbles was fortunate. He went to be put in the care of Mr Dunn. And so, by the time Jackson moved to his 2,700-acre Neverland ranch in 1988, Bubbles was no longer living with him. However, that did not stop ludicrous claims that when the actress Elizabeth Taylor married for the seventh and last time (to construction worker Larry Fortensky) at the ranch in 1991, Bubbles was the ring-bearer.

Occasionally, the chimp would be taken to visit Jackson when the singer requested, but he had children by then and Bubbles was too dangerous to have around a young family. And so Bubbles’ days on the A-list were over.

As Jackson’s career nosedived amid a string of sordid legal cases over his deeply worrying relationships with young children, he admitted to interviewer Martin Bashir in 2003 that the chimp was no longer part of his life because he had become ‘too aggressive’.

Other rumours suggested that Jackson left money in his will for Bubbles. But the sanctuary said: ‘Michael always maintained ownership of Bubbles as he was his first and favourite chimpanzee, and he considered him as his son.

‘But he didn’t include him in his will. We still must raise funds from our supporters to provide care for Bubbles.’

However, Ms Ragan says Jackson’s multi-million dollar estate has since helped out — though it pays less than half of his annual £16,000 upkeep.

Nothing sensational here. Baby and Juvenile chimps are very playful and gentle, but as a chimpanzee matures it becomes less playful and gentle. Male chimps mature sexually around 11 - 16 years of age and become adult like and aggressive.

Had Michael got Bubbles as a baby in 1985 or whenever, Bubbles would have become aggressive and adult like by the mid 1990s and even by 1990 may have become rough. Also if he was not living with Michael all the time, he would have grown independent of him.

Many of the Tea party chimps and performing chimps of old were Juveniles under 10 years of age or captivity chimps that remained gentle (Some were neutered, and keeping them for human pleasure was cruel). Keeping them as pets was considered a bit passe by the late 1980s. Most of the chimps on Lancelot link were Juveniles aged about 4 - 6 years (7 - 10 human age). Generally after that they got too aggressive. I never agreed with people keeping them for amusement. Chimps are not monkeys either, but highly intelligent primates closely related to humans.

In my city, some aged tea party chimps had to be kept separate from modern chimps as the modern ones (Ones gathered after 1980 and kept a mock jungle/savanna environment) would probably kill them and the tea party chimps (From the 1950s and 1960s and kept in concrete cages, neutred, teeth and claws removed). Finally these poor animals were kept in their old cages (Signs explained why, so people would not complain this was cruel) and the poor animals finally died off by 2010. A chimp in captivity can live for 65 years (100 human) in captivity, but 40 is more typical in the wild.

Bubbles today would be well into his middle age (Early to mid 30s) and probably in some caged environment.

Bubbles is earning a living by being an artist!

For the 10-day exhibition opening on July 21, Brand says 61 paintings are being created by the apes. Most of these canvases will have an asking price between $300 – $500, while the two or three painted by Bubbles will be more expensive. “He’s like the Babe Ruth of the show, his paintings are more nostalgic,” says Brand, comparing the famous chimp’s work to the legendary Yankee’s baseball card. He’s hopeful the exhibit will raise funds in the ballpark of $18,000.

She (Patti Ragan) says that Michael Jackson was wonderful, but “after six years, even he couldn’t manage a chimp in his home.”

Didn't Latoya visit bubbles a couple years ago?
Yes, she did. Stupid thing she did for Animal Planet, but hopefully it got some donations for the Center. They survive on donations.
I read an article recently that Uri Geller bought 3 of Bubbles' art works. I thought that was funny-he's still trying to keep that Michael Jackson connection.
