Anyone here see it yet? Seems to be getting some good attentikn.. im interested

I saw it last night.

It's entertaining, but I felt it didn't work really. I understand it's a true story, so I'd like to know how much was true and how much was artistic licence because for me there was definitely a few problems in the plausibility of it all. And it's not just one aspect that's difficult to get past, it's many.

If they have stayed true to what really happened, then Spike for me has failed somewhere in taking the audience through these events.

I thought the story was great, spike snuck in some anti trump messages throughout trying the leader of the ok to trump. Sadly I'd say the directing made the movie a little slower than it could have been.

I'm not a fan of trump but SOME of the anti trump moments were a little top obvious. Meaning those who like trump will end up getting annoyed. It gives it a propaganda feel. Which I dont mind only because i dont like trump. But I'm not everyone and if I were a trump fan.. no

I'd give it somewhere between average and good! It had the potential of being great.

I found many of the nominations at this year's Oscars to be quite absurd, in what was admittedly a very average year in cinema.

I stand by my opinion of this movie. Though I did enjoy it despite my criticisms of it's failings.

From Academy Award® Winner Spike Lee comes a New Joint: the story of four African-American Vets — Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis), and Melvin (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.) — who return to Vietnam. Searching for the remains of their fallen Squad Leader (Chadwick Boseman) and the promise of buried treasure, our heroes, joined by Paul's concerned son (Jonathan Majors), battle forces of Man and Nature — while confronted by the lasting ravages of The Immorality of The Vietnam War.
