That's a technicality. When you have mergers and acquisitions, they go with you. AT&T bought it all.

UPDATE: The Estate of Michael Jackson v. HBO: The Estate will appear in court on 5/13/19 (13 may 2019).
They have filed a motion to remand the case back to the state court.

The Estate is still asking for open arbitration. The arbitration clause in the contract between HBO and Michael Jackson specifically states that if an arbitration occurs, it should be heard in LA Superior Court.

Update: The Estate of Michael Jackson has filed a motion to compel arbitration with HBO in District court. This filing has been done in case the District court does not remand the case back to the state court. Basically, it covers both bases in trying to compel arbitration.

Update: HBO has filed a stipulation to extend the court date to May 23, rather than May 13. HBO claims a "scheduling conflict" and that the paperwork would be due on the Monday after Easter. The Estate has agreed to a 5/23 court date for motion to compel arbitration.

HBO is a huge organization with multiple attorneys on retainer, surely one or more of them could have handled this without requesting an extension.

Yeah, they've done it a few times now. Definitely just trying to buy time for whatever reason. Probably to make as much money off of it as possible.
