For people that tasted it when it came out what did it taste like? I’ve got it but obviously cannot drink it now. I’m guessing like lucozade?

Taste was peach I think. Sparkling was very low. But it tasted quite good. Nothing too overly sweet.

I remember wanting to drink this during the History era but it wasn't sold in the USA.

Oddly enough I never tried one.. I did buy one for my collection back then though, which I still have somewhere

Yeah I bought cans and never drank them haha. Still have somewhere.

Think it was a German brand?

Yes, it was a German brand called Mystery Drinks Gmbh.
In 2013 a different company (I think it is german too) re-issued it but without any MJ reference, but the name, the flavour and the can was the same.

I loved the Mystery magazine! I used to read the issues over and over. They were well loved.

Yes, it was a German brand called Mystery Drinks Gmbh.

The concept, production & release of the Mystery Drink in 1996 was actually a result of MJ’s collaboration with Dieter Wiesner & Ronald Koniger.

Wiesner & Konitzer were hired by MJ to work as his professional managers at that time.

The Mystery Drink was the first of several different ventures that these two men along with MJ worked on together during those years.

It was an energy drink which was released in selected territories where MJ was also performing for the HIStory Tour (1996 - 1997).

But, that product was eventually not really successful with lower than expected sales.

It tasted like Nalu or something like that as far as I remember. A sugary sweet awful energy drink. If you drink those for an entire year you have no teeth left.

In my memory it could have been Red Bull... But it's a very hazy memory since I had 1 can of Mystery in the 90s and only tasted Red Bull 20 years later...
