If you are talking about trying to upscale the Vision source as 4k then you are correct. However if they actually remastered it from the film source it would look fantastic. I think Billie Jean was only filmed on 16mm so the best quality would be 1080p. If they can do it for Thriller then they could/should do it for Billie Jean, Beat it, etc.

I can't understand the issue of not 4k'ing them like wtf!!! I just hope I don't die before they do it

Billie Jean ripped from 16/32mm film is a more obvious and rewarding release than a Blu Ray audio of the single.

Correct me if Iím wrong, but werenít the three videos from Off the Wall filmed on tape? I donít know much about remastering, but I couldíve sworn I heard that those videos arenít able to be upscaled to 4K.

They're on tape as well. Beat it I think was the 1st to be shot on 35mm.... might have been can you feel it too though. I'm not sure but so far as solo yeah beat it. The previous ones like Blame it on the boogie- rock with you are on tape

First of all, a Blu-ray collection of concerts from his solo tours, filmed in 35mm + multitrack would be nice. (Hopefully a better 5.1 mix than Wembley though.) The thing about Hi-Res releases is that only a very small percentage of people are actually gonna buy those, since a) most of the tracks are already available in 96khz/24bit on several websites, including this forum. b) be honest. How many people you know are actual audiophiles? c) it would just be another rerelease of the same tracks we already know and love. Nothing new for the mainstream pop culture. And if the estate gets small sales, they're gonna release even less new stuff than they do already. Things like TDCAU 2020 directed by Spike Lee are a nice and welcome addition, though this shouldn't be a replacement for HIStory 25. Now, for the Jacksons' tours, the one I would most like a release for is the Goin' Places tour. Almost no information about it can be found nowadays and a potential live version of Goin' Places alone is enough for me. I would be totally happy with a master tape and soundboard audio release of that.

If the Estate aren't interested in releasing "new music", studio footage or new concerts
I'd love them to release an EP something like MJ's work tape for a song like Liberian Girl or Smooth Criminal alongside the demo, along with the song itself. Maybe release an interview with someone like John Barnes or Matt Forger talking about the conception of the track. Just something for us fans you know
The work tape for Beat It was a highlight of the This Is It soundtrack for me personally

I realise that. Maybe it's because you couldn't get Bad and Dangerous!

They only cost more because of scaling. If more people buy it the price comes down. Anyway, lots of people bought (and are still buying) stuff like the Number Ones DVD. Could have had 5.1 mixes on that.

That's the beauty of modern technology. Graceful degradation. Multiple soundtracks are available on the same disc. If somebody doesn't have Atmos they just listen in stereo. It's fine.

Historically, labels have used big-name artists to sell new technology. If they don't use MJ to push this stuff out then you're letting down the whole music industry down.

Exactly. If you don't offer the customer anything that's superior to their existing version (or YouTube) then why would you expect them to buy anything? If Sony expect the MJ industry to continue, they're actually gonna have to release something that's not just another greatest hits compilation.

And whatever they do release, quality matters

Correction: the vast majority of artists never sell enough records to cover their costs. Like seriously, 80% of artists are a commercial failure. And that's just the ones that get signed. 99% of artists never set foot in a recording studio, never mind about selling their first copy.

DVD is already beyond the source material. BJ looked bad on the HIStory DVD. It looked bad on the Visionary DVD. Etc.

You could upscale them to 16K or 256K, but it won't make them look any better. You're just increasing the pixel count.

A fan collection with demoes - alternate vocals - studio footage - behind the scenes from the iconic musicvideos etc. etc.

I know this is directed at a small fan circle - but it would be great.

Then they could also release something for the general public to earn money. - new album, Cirque du solei, Broadway etc.

But it would be nice with something directed to the fans also. (and I think that could be done without loosing money, but I know they would not earn a lot from such a project)

I would love to see new concerts being released (Bad Tour Kansas City or Los Angeles). After hearing the Throwing your life Away demo, it would be great for that to be released too.
