A new documentary will see light in 2020 on Netflix. The documentary is directed by Spanish film maker Marcos Cabota and is about Michael Jackson, the artist and the man.

Cabota has been posting about the movie for a while now and will have many people who worked with Michael Jackson and his family.

Known people already on board are Brad Buxer (who also worked on the music of the documentary), Toto, Bruce Swedien, Tarryl Jackson, Siedah Garrett.

The documentary will show how Michael was as an artist, his work and legacy in the music industry.

On twitter, Cabota has posted many pictures of locations where he filmed the documentary: The Thriller house, Neverland Ranch, New York recording studio, London Quincy Jones’ concerts and so on.

On Cabota’s website, “Music. Love. Billie Jean” is showing as the title of the up coming documentary.

It is also said that the documentary will be on Netflix around the time of the opening of the new Broadway show “MJ” in 2020.

It is unclear if the Estate of Michael Jackson was involved in this project but we are looking forward to see a very positive documentary about Michael Jackson coming to the masses.

To be continued…

Is that the same documentary that Taj Jackson was crowdfunded a couple months ago?

He said that it may be Netflix, or some other network. Movie theater and DVD releases are also planned.

Ooops, sorry Paris78, I didn’t see your reply before I posted mine.

Oh. well i guess we have to wait and see. it's glad to know it will also be in the movies and on DVD. though. i don't see the point putting it in the movies when Netflix may take it or an network etc. the news was release yesterday night and today so anything can change or happen. here's to next year. i wish him the best of luck.

I’d choose a movie theater over Netflix any time. Big screen! Popcorn!

And then go home and watch it on Netflix again.

Right now, I’m just happy we have something definitely positive to look forward to. Much needed.

Re: New Michael Jackson Documentary Coming Summer 2020

You mean taj's documentary going on netflix?

Loving the title as well, it's a great choice: not stereotypical at all and refers perfectly to the creative process of making music MJ style.

The making of the Thriller album with all the original people involved. That’s something Marcos can easily sell to major TV stations. :)
So sad that Michael can’t be part of this documentary. :(

I really hope they don’t portray it as Bruce’s and Quincy’s product. The material so far doesn’t mention MJ a lot …

===

Synopsis:

In the early eighties in Los Angeles, a group of musicians led by Quincy Jones and his engineer Bruce Swedien undertake a project, which aims to revolutionize the music industry. That project would be called Thriller.

For the first time, 38 years later, everyone involved in that album has come together to explain the unknown story behind the creation of this masterpiece. Also, why his engineer Bruce Swedien ended up being a fundamental piece in this incredible legend.

Almost 40 years after its release, Thriller remains the best-selling record in history. And everything has a reason.

This looks A-MAIZING! Can’t wait to watch it.
Did they announce when it’s coming out?

Last I heard they had it scheduled for this summer, but not sure how the pandemic affects their schedule. Guess it depends on whether or not they’re done filming already.

Oh ok.
It’s so great that he got so many people involved who were actually there....even Quincy.
I hope this will get more attention than some of the other documentaries that weren’t made by the Estate. And I really hope that we’ll get to see new footage from the recording sessions of Thriller...that would be awesome!

Wow. i totally forgot about this. LOL! i thought it was sonic the hedgehog at first. :lmao: so they change the doc title. this look like this may be good. it has a poster which is nice. it's kind of sad most people who worked with Michael are no longer with us to be in this even Michael himself. but this looks great. lots of good documentaries coming out. when is gonna aired? on TV or online? will we have to pay?

I hope they talk about Michael. he was the one who made it and thought about it after all. and Quincy better not say any negative crap about Michael in any form.

Oh, I totally forgot we had this thread. Thanks for merging. :)

I did too. lol.

I never opened this thread because I thought it was a about a sonic game that somehow got connected to MJ.

What it actually is about is much more interesting though, hopefully MJ's contribution for the album isn't diminished to just vocals, Quincy is already seen as the genius behind MJ and not MJ himself. It's about time people realize MJ was not just a good singer and dancer but also had great song ideas and talent in the studio.

That’s what I’m worried about.

In the synopsis they mentioned Quincy as being the leader, no mention of Michael, in the teaser they praise Quincy and there is no mention of Michael other than this one second where they’re talking about the team of Quincy, Bruce and Michael.

I’m just hoping that they didn’t put the parts where they mention Michael’s genius not to spoil the documentary, if not I will be very disappointed.

“...a group of musicians led by Quincy Jones and his engineer Bruce Swedien undertake a project...”

This rubs me the wrong way, ngl.
