Jackie and Tito were there! Go watch the music video. Only Jermaine, Janet and Rebbie were not there. Michael, Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Randy, and LaToya were all there.

Because.....Jermaine....with all of his baggage and his big head/ego couldn't fit through the door of the studio. Lmao.

Well, Quincy put up a sign that read “Check your egos at the door.” Guess that did it.

His ego is so big, it's Impossible for him to leave it at home!

The 1985 American Music Awards ceremony was on Monday, January 28, the same night as the recording of We Are World. A lot of the members of USA For Africa were at the American Music Awards ceremony, and headed to the studio afterwards to record We Are The World. I can't find the actual reason as to why Jermaine Jackson did not participate in We Are The World anywhere on google.

But Jermaine worked with Michael Omartian (co-producer of We are the World) on his solo albums.

Jermaine participated in the Wave to the World charity event in 2000 (Paralympic games). And Michael was there, but he wasn't singing. It's very similar to We are the World, but on a smaller scale.

If no jokes and "beatings", then Jermaine really contributed to various charitable projects. Didn't get to "We are the world", but became probably the main initiator of assistance to the participants of the Paralympics, the "Wave to the world" project.

He has a music video showing the war in Sarajevo and the fleeing of Rwandans after the genocide (Save Tomorrow).

It didn't feel like fulfilling ego, but it was a true impulse.

The sign on the door in the recording studio about egos probably stopped him. Either that or he wanted paying (more) like at MSG
