Mentionings:

Rick Ross album pushed back to February 08

Rick Ross has announced a new release date for his new album entitled Trilla. The set was initially slated for December 18 and has been pushed back to February19.

Rick Ross invaded the Hip Hop Scene with his previous album Port of Miami released via Slip-N-Slide/Def Jam and featuring the hit Hustlin produced by The Runners. This album has sold 722,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Ross explains that "Trilla means real enough and was really inspired by Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It’s going to be the biggest street album of the year."

The first single for the album Speedin’ featuring R. Kelly is stuck at No. 76 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart which explains why Def Jam opted to give the project more time.

Guest spots on the album includes Jay-Z on the song Maybach Music, while Lil Wayne and Trick Daddy can be heard on Luxury Taxing.

Trilla also includes features from Akon, T-Pain and Floetry’s Marsha Ambrosius, as well as production from The Runners, DJ Toomp and Cool and Dre.

Music supervisors who want a taste of "Hannah Montana" or "High School Musical" for their programs -- but know they aren't going to get it from Disney -- might have a solution.

Songwriter Robbie Nevil has created the "Teen Pop" album for Extreme Music, the unit of Sony/ATV Music Publishing that creates and licenses music for all sorts of productions. Nevil co-wrote the "Hannah Montana" theme song, "The Best of Both Worlds," and three others on the soundtrack. He also co-wrote songs for "High School Musical" and its sequel.

"When it became apparent we needed to produce a collection of pure pop songs, Robbie was our 'magic wand' choice," said Dolph Taylor, co-CEO of Extreme Music. "He is the unrivaled King of Teen Pop."

Nevil made the top 20 as an artist three times in the mid-'80s, including the No. 2 hit "C'est la Vie." Since then he has written, produced or played on songs for such acts as Stevie Wonder, Destiny's Child and Luther Vandross.

Susan Butler is a senior correspondent for Billboard.
