Can We have a thread dedicated to them plz? 'Cause I've noticed that this place has so many threads dedicated to Janet and I understand why, but this is the Jackson Family section of the board afterall so I don't think it should just be focused on one person.

I absolutely love the Jackson 5 though. Not only are they one of the most talented and successful groups ever but they had the best lead singer ever imo lol :p. Many people think they just made "bubble gum" pop music like "Abc" and "I Want You Back" though but they are so much more than that. I'd like to know what everyone's fave songs, albums, performances, etc. are by The J5.

Here are a few of my fave J5 songs/performances:

"I Am Love" (A very underrated song I think, but Jermaine's voice really shines in this one).

Performing "I Want You Back" and "Can You Remember" on Hollywood palace.

J5 Medley On The Tonite Show

"Dancing Machine" (I swear Michael's robot is the sickest i've ever seen! I love ALL Dancing Machine performances)

I"m a huge fan of the J5. I have every album including the reissues Joyful Jukebox Music Boogie, and In Japan!. Favorite songs besides the obvious include Get It Together, Body Language, Whatever You Got I Want, Breezy, If I Have To Move a Mountain, Mama's Pearl, and Pride and Joy. Some of my favorite performances are the Hollywood Palace in '69, Dancing Machine on Soul Train in '74, J5 medley on Flip Wilson Show, Stand! from the Going Back To Indiana concert, Its Your Thing from the Miss Black Usa pageant. Also I can't forget the Motown 25 reunion of the original Jackson 5. I'm also a big fan of all of the Jacksons albums.

^^^^^^^^ oooh, LOVE 'breezy'!!!!!!! and 'get it together', 'whatever you got...'

Thx for posting these clips!!! A few of them like the one of MJ performing "One Day In Your Life" I haven't seen before so that was great to see. I've always loved that performance of "Got To Be There" though and I came across an acapella version of it a few months ago on youtube and thought it was brilliant. I wish I could find it again. *Sigh*

Anyway, I just came across a clip of MJ performing "If I Don't Love You This Way" On Soul Train (I think) I never even knew he performed this!!! Gosh, finding rare things like this makes me so excited lol. Mike is so cute here though and "If I Don't Love You This Way" is such a great song!

Cool thread. The Jackson Five always blended really well, I thought, and Michael was such a professional at such a young age, that it was mind blowing. You can't learn that kind of talent anywhere. That performance of "Got To Be There" was awesome, I've never seen it before. You can hear Michael's voice changing there and it sounds amazing. What control. I also really love the performance of "Killing Me Softly" on The Tonight Show. Michael's voice is just gorgeous there. I've got a few favorites. I love "Sugar Daddy", "Who's Lovin' You", "Forever Came Today", "Skywriter", "Corner Of The Sky" (they all sound good on this track), "Comin' Home", "Can't Get Ready", "Maybe Tomarrow", "If I Don't Love You This Way" (great performance of the song by Michael by the way, again, what a freakin' pro.) etc... I have a ton of J5 and Jackson's footage on DVD.

Here's a great performance of "Forever Came Today" on the Carol Burnett show. I don't usually like the J5 choreography, but I like it for this particular track.

Gah....I am crazy about the Jackson 5 / Jacksons era, their albums, and also their skits, they make so happy when I'm down. As soon as I get the time, I'll be posting some YouTube links with them myself. I absolutely love the chirpy, melodious, nostalgic, yet innovative and still fresh feel of their music, as well as the interviews they participated in.

I have love for everyobdy involved in the J5 appreciation. Some great clips have been posted on this thread, some of which I have not seen. What a great singing performance of Got To Be There by Michael (even though that was credited as a Michael Jackson single and not a Jackson 5 single).

One cool thing I learned earlier in the year was that the night I was born (Friday, July 19, 1974) the Jackson 5 played the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. I was born at a hospital less than 2 miles away after 11 pm that night. The article I read stated that fans were so fired up that they rushed the stage and the concert had to be delayed after one song. The 5 brothers (plus Randy) returned after a 15 minute delay to play a 45 minute set that night. The Pittsburgh Press review stated, "It was a good concert all around, and the crowd was very well-behaved, even considering the 'sin' of wanting to get close to the Jacksons."

Learning this fact kind of made my year, it amazes me and I kind of take faith in it. I've been a big Michael Jackson fan all of my life and this has a spiritual meaning to me.

There's this OLD J5 interview I want to hear again.. it's just audio but ITS GREAT..

WOW you auctually got to see them back in the day. You are so lucky. Was the crowd really as wild back then as they said they were? I seen a clip of a concert they did in Gary Indiana and the crowd was so wild it was scary to watch.

That is cool! I wish I had been around then to see the J5 live in concert.

I just discovered some 'new' songs.
They're not new but I've never heard them before...
I really love some of them like:
2468
It's too late to change the time
you're good for me
uppermost
can't get ready for losing you
coming home
I'm glad it rained (this is my new favourite song for the moment!)
lulu
can I see you in the morning

Damn, I missed soooooo much!!!! I wish I was born when the J5 were hot!

I love both those songs, especially "Can't Get Ready For Losing You". I've played that song so many times, i've lost count lol.
