In a similar vein to the Jermaine thread. Are there any other Toya fans on here?

I downloaded a torrent with all of her albums in high quality a few days ago, and I'm really enjoying her music. She's actually not a bad singer (in fact, if she hadn't been overshadowed by her brothers and sisters, she could have had a successful music career), and her songs are really good. "Startin' Over' (the leaked version) is one of the best Jackson related albums I've ever heard. :)

I also like most of her music, and was fortunate to talk with her this summer when she was in Denmark.
My favorite song of her must be No Drama :punk:

i really love La Toyas early stuff..(before jack gordon took over her management) so everything before and including her 'imagination' album is really good...its very jackson esque...she had a similar sound to janet and the jacksons in the early days
most of her albums in the 90's were not very well produced and on first listening aren't that outstanding but now that I listen to them more Im finding that they are not so bad...and they are starting to grow on me...
her Startin Over album is the best of her albums to date...its the only album that La Toya has had full say over in what was being produced....she has said that she never liked what she realeased in the 90's...she only recorded those songs because thats what her management wanted...
i heard she is rediong the entire startin over album because the current one was leaked...im really looking foward to when she finally releases it..if the leaked version is anything to compare it to im guessing its gonna be really good..

so has everyone heard the leaked startin over album? What are your fav songs?
Mine are':
i don't play that
Just Wanna Dance
Home
No more drama
Shouldve left you
your so nasty

More people should check out her music. Her self-titled debut album is excellent. :D

i ordered her album sexual feeling from play.com a few days ago. i have a few of her songs on my itunes. shes not bad at all.

I loveeeee No More Drama. That is my favourite song of hers. Love it :D

Free the World is a bit....erm, lol well I think she definitely got inspiration from a certain person!

But it's a nice song.

Oh..my..goodness!! I LOVE this song lol, it's called "Special Love":

It has a really beautiful opening, and it features Randy on background vocals. I love me some Randy, I always thought the boy could SANG. Anyway, I love this. LaToya's light vocals, along with Randy's little vocals in the background made it work. :)
I thought I would never like a LaToya Jackson song..now I have to check some of her music out lol!!!

Well... if her Startin Over album get released someday then, I'll make sure to buy it.

LaToya has some really good songs. I'm surprised she never had any top 10 singles in the 1980's.
People didn't really take her seriously. Back in the early 80's, R&B had singers like Cheryl Lynn, Evelyn "Champagne" King, Phyllis Hyman, Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Joycelyn Brown, Chaka Khan, Margie Joseph, etc who were popular and she didn't stack up. She had a minor hit with "Heart Don't Lie". That was probably because Howard Hewitt from Shalamar sang on it. Shalamar was a group that was really popular in R&B in the early 80s. Later on in the late 80's she tried to be Samantha Fox or something and it didn't work.

It might be seen as cheesy, but I do like this:

It has some really clever lyrics. 'Bad and Thriller, he's still the Man In The Mirror' is such a great line.
