Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' Guitarist, Orianthi, To Release Debut

Introducing Orianthi, the guitar phenomenon who is featured prominently in the upcoming Michael Jackson concert documentary, "This Is It".

Already a renowned musician, Orianthi has been playing guitar since the age of eleven and was discovered by legend Carlos Santana. After playing with artists like Carrie Underwood, ZZ Top, and Prince, she received a MySpace message from Michael Jackson's musical director asking her to audition for his comeback tour. Following a test run with the King of Pop himself, she was selected as his lead guitarist for his O2 arena dates in London - a crowning achievement for the 24 year old from Adelaide, Australia.

Now Orianthi is preparing to release her solo debut album, "Believe", on October 27th. In addition to her talent at guitar, Orianthi has a gorgeous voice and even sang at Michael Jackson's Staples Center memorial service. Even before starting rehearsals for his tour though, she was hard at work writing and recording the album with her band. Believe is full of anthemic rock tracks with a sound reminiscent of Paramore or Evanescence, but entirely Orianthi thanks to her signature shreds and thunderous hooks. Her first single, "According to You" is a catchy tale of an ungrateful boyfriend, featuring a killer guitar solo.

To hear the story in her own words, watch Orianthi in this segment from Australia's "Today Show". Visit Orianthi.com for updates on this rising star, and be sure to check her out in "This Is It" - out on October 28th.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ To Honor Michael Jackson With Tribute

“Dancing With the Stars” will honor The King of Pop with a ballroom dance tribute on next Tuesday’s show, Access Hollywood has learned.

The Jackson “Dancing” tribute will star all the professional dancers strutting their stuff across the ballroom. Cheryl Burke has been tapped as one of the choreographers.

Access Hollywood spoke with La Toya Jackson on Tuesday as she was working as our guest correspondent for “Dancing With the Stars” and we told her the exciting news.

“Here? You’re kidding! Oh that’s gonna be wonderful,” La Toya told Access. “I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see that. I’m really looking forward to that. That’s gonna be fabulous.”

La Toya said she thinks her mom Katherine Jackson will be delighted to see a “Dancing” tribute for Michael.

“Are you kidding? I think she’d be very excited, very happy. She’d love to see it, love to see it,” she explained, saying her mom is a fan of the ABC show reality competition. “She watches it all the time. She loves it.”

La Toya was also thrilled with her brother’s five American Music Award nominations.

“I’m so excited. I’m so happy for him,” she told Access. “He deserves every bit of it and I certainly hope that he wins every last one of them.”

Michael Jackson's kids will co-star in Jackson family reality show

michael-jackson-family-reality-show-paris-jackson-prince-blanketjpg-d063ef2a4425c2b7_large.jpg

Michael Jackson's three children will appear in an upcoming A&E reality series about Jackson's brothers, even though Jackson's sister Rebbie, who reportedly has been the primary caregiver for Prince, Paris and Blanket, feels her late brother would "spin in his grave if he knew his kids would be on this show," a source tells Us Weekly.

The series has been in the works since well before Jackson's death in June, and was originally going to focus on the Jackson brothers -- Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy -- as they recorded a new album and prepped for a tour. But there wasn't much interest in the project until after Michael died. Funny that.

The new series will also follow the family as it grapples with Jackson's death, including footage of the three children whom Michael fiercely protected from the prying cameras during his lifetime. Rebbie has refused to be in the series, and mom Katherine, the legal guardian of the three kids "is just going along with things," according to the source.

Executive producer Jodi Gomes tells Us Weekly that the family will come off well in "The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty," set to air in December. "They've done a great job opening up about losing a brother." Well, presumably they're getting paid handsomely to do so, so spare us the high praise.

Sony: Michael Jackson Album Will be Sold on iTunes, Contrary to Report

mjthis.jpg

Michael Jackson’s posthumous album This Is It will be sold through iTunes, Sony told Wired.com, contradicting a Digital Music News report that Apple’s policy of insisting that songs be sold individually had cost it the chance to sell the album.

“I’m happy to report that [that] story is incorrect,” said Epic Records (Sony) senior vice president of publicity Lois Najarian. “Michael Jackson’s This It It album will indeed be for sale on iTunes on October 27th. I don’t have much more information to impart other than that right now, but suffice to say fans will be able to purchase it there.”

If Sony is right, either Michael Jackson’s people have agreed to let iTunes sell songs from the album individually, or Apple has reversed its longstanding policy of insisting that songs on albums also be sold individually in iTunes. We’ve asked Sony and Apple about this and hope to have an answer shortly.

“I know that’s the question of the day and they are working on that now,” said Najarian, when asked about the bundling issue.

This widely-anticipated album includes only one new track, also called “This Is It” (listen), which was co-written by Michael Jackson and Paul Anka in 1983, although four demos and a poem are also included. By making this only available as a complete album, Sony and Jackson’s estate would be able to force fans who want to buy the new track and the four demos to purchase 14 tracks they probably already own.

“Seriously? Just the one new song, and only four demos on the second disc? I won’t be buying this,” wrote Amazon commenter Ian Roegels. “I’ll just buy the few tracks I don’t have on iTunes.”

He and others will indeed be able to cherrypick the new songs from iTunes — unless Apple has reversed its anti-bundling policy. Again, we hope to have an update on that soon.

In related news, Apple has budged in another important area related to album sales, by opening up the specs for its iTunes LP program (formerly known as Project Cocktail) so that artists and labels can include album art, videos, images, lyrics, liner notes, and so on with their albums. Earlier reports claimed that Apple was charging the labels $10,000 a pop to create iTunes LPs, but Apple clarified its new stance to Wired.com.

“We’re releasing the open specs for iTunes LP soon, allowing both major and indie labels to create their own,” said Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr told Wired.com. “There is no production fee charged by Apple.”

Michael Jackson’s This Is It album will be available on October 27 digitally and in CD form, and on November 10 in the vinyl format.

From Defamer.com - MJ3 in Jackson Bros. A&E reality show

My worst fears have now come true about the A&E special.

Joe Jackson Sells Out His Grandkids for Reality TV Fame

By Brian Moylan, 12:19 PM on Wed Oct 14 2009,
A&E purchased the reality show The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty which will feature appearances by the late Michael Jackson's three kids, Prince, Paris, and Blanket. Thankfully, at least one Jackson thinks this is a bad idea.

Us Weekly reports that Rebbie Jackson, Michael's oldest sister and the one who is supposedly caring for the children, is not participating in the show and believes it would make Michael "spin in his grave." The children are in the custody of their grandmother, Katherine, who will participate in the show along with her husband Joe, who was always the mastermind behind the family's grabs at fame. A source tells Us that Katherine "is just going along with things."

Didn't the family learn their lesson the first time around. A life that started in the spotlight didn't turn out that great for Michael, why would he want to inflict that on these children as well. And look at poor Blanket in the picture above. Does that look like a kid who wants to have cameras in his bedroom?

[EDITED 2.0 - I added the photo since above they had the memorial photo as well, since the writer of DEFAMER makes a special commentary about it.]

The rest of the family—including Janet, the most famous living Jackson—is on board for either five hour-long episodes or 10 half hours. There will be 23 Jacksons in total, so it sounds like the whole brood will be counting their reality television money together.

Re: From Defamer.com - MJ3 in Jackson Bros. A&E reality show

i think they will be included only when the footage of the funeral will be shown . but ofcourse the whole family will kee talking about mj and the kids . the siblings will manage to exploit them someway in this reality tv show. it is time like this when you think Kien knew what he was talking about . i bet mj told him alot of wild stories about this pathetic family .

Re: From Defamer.com - MJ3 in Jackson Bros. A&E reality show

Oh NO.....

I think the kids would have been better off with Debbie Rowe, which is a shock because I am not really fond of her.

OH NO.

I knew Katherine would be easy to manipulate and be pushed over. The way Jermaine made her sit down and do a video speech about that concert in Europe as a tribute to Michael...you can tell she didn't want to do it but did it anyway.

I hope this is just rumours.....I HOPE.

Joe Jackson Selling $3000 Tickets to eat dinner with him and watch This Is It

Fashion Designer Bian Variani, in collaboration with LVH magazine, Brenden Theatres and Seven&Company, is offering a $3,000 “Platinum VIP” package culminating in a screening of This Is It in Vegas on Oct. 27. It’s highlighted (if you will) by a “private dinner with Mr. Joseph Jackson,” who will pose for photos and autograph copies of his book, Joseph Jackson: Man in the Mirror, Father of the First Family of Music, which will be handed out as part of the package. The hotel’s comped as well. After the film, Joe will “thank the viewers and the fans for watching his son’s movie with him,” and host an opening night party at Palms Casino Resort’s Moon nightclub, featuring, of course, the music of Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians. Re: From Defamer.com - MJ3 in Jackson Bros. A&E reality show

One of the comments at Defamer.com that made me LOL:

The only thing keeping me going is my hope that the premise of this show is that Joe Jackson and all of the non-Rebbie kids are put in a cage while Prince, Paris, and Blanket poke them with sticks and Katherine makes sporadic appearances just to bring the kids cookies and lemonade. I'd watch at least the pilot.

Wholeheartedly agree with you. Debbie Rowe would defend & fight for the kids' privacy, remember, it was Debbie Rowe who asked Michael to conceal the children's faces, which he complied.

oh god poor babies they have no one
jeez! can this day get any worse?

Re: The Daily News Oct 14 - Children to appear on A&E Show?

I think the kids would have been better off with Debbie Rowe, which is a shock because I am not really fond of her.-------------- Oh please, it was HER decision to stay out of their lives and they do not even know she is their mother. For anyone to agree to such an arrangement is the worst in my book. These kids are almost young adults now.

Can someone put Joe Jackson in the old-people house? He gets on my nerves. Last time we saw him looking like a pimp in the VMAs and now this!

Sound like Joe may do what a DJ said, "SInce Michael left Joe out the will, Joe is going make money anyway he can off of Michael. Michael was not loyal to JOe by not leaving him any money,, so why should JOe be loyal to Michael?

For god sakes, calm down. It's just an opinion

*If this rumour is true*, then Katherine might not have been the best choice either since she is easily persuaded. There's a reason perhap's why Michael made his Last Will the way he did. She might have drawn up her own Will and leave everything - if she died - to Jermaine and ect with their persuasions.... (Mike...you were a smart man, in life and in death):)

Like I said, I am not fond of Debbie, but she did make Michael cover up the kid's faces for many many years. She chose not to be there and have him raise them. Many women do that.

Either way the kids are screwed if this is in fact true. Maybe Diana Ross can step in.

Re: The Daily News Oct 14 - Children to appear on A&E Show?

I seriously doubt that Michael's children will be appearing on any reality program. And I'm surprised that anybody on this board would believe anything that comes from US WEEKLY.

The producer's of this program are obviously trying to create some buzz for this reality series. I mean, let's be honest, not that many people even know about this Jackson reality program. And I doubt the interest is that high, no offense to the brothers.

If the children were really going to be appearing on this program, they wouldn't be beating around the bush. The producer's of the program would just say so and we would not be hearing words like "maybe" and "might."

It's just a way for folks to tune in night after night. HOPING to get a glimpse of Michael's children.

Re: The Daily News Oct 14 - Children to appear on A&E Show?

Well I just heard on HLN that his 3 kids WILL NOT be on the reality program. It just aired like 3 minutes ago.
As I thought. Some fans are starting to jump on tabloid mess like people did with Michael.

I agree. And I do not think most people care about the seeing the children now. They have already been seen and their picture are everywhere (except on this board).

It's just messed up that they would even try to go there though. It's one thing to speculate about a grown person appearing somewhere, but kids? That's messed up. I'm glad something was quickly said.

Re: The Daily News Oct 14 - Children to appear on A&E Show?

I heard on The View and The Insider that all 3 were in fact going to be in the reality show.

I guess at this point it depends on what you want to believe. Time will only tell.

Some shows says 'yes they will appear' and in some they say 'no'. We'll have to wait to see the episodes when they air to really know for sure.

Re: The Daily News Oct 14 - Children to appear on A&E Show?

If it's true, I'm shocked. Would Michael approve of this? Don't think so.

Re: The Daily News Oct 14 - Children to appear on A&E Show?

A tabloid (US Weekly) is breaking this "news" story. Well E!News said that they checked it out and the kids won't be on the show... My guess is that you will see them during the funeral scenes if they do happen to appear on the show.We should wait and see b4 we start with the "I Hate everything about the Jacksons" rants. I think if this was true, the judge would've said something about it during the court proceedings, especially when the appointed legal person has to give an account on what the kids were up 2 prior to Oct. 2nd...
