Now we all know a GREAT song with a GREAT singer can never really be redone because it almost always falls short of the original...but then there are times when we get a pretty good version of a classic that could become a hit in it's own right. I think this is one of those versions...

What are some of your favorites?

I think Aretha Franklin's "Respect" is better than the original by Otis Redding. I also like Aretha's "Jumping Jack Flash" better than the Rolling Stones'. I like the Brand New Heavies version of "I Don't Know Why" better than the original Stevie Wonder version or the covers by the J5 and John Mellencamp. O'Bryan's cover of Stevie's "You And I" is nice too. I prefer Michael Jackson's "Girlfriend" to the original Paul McCartney & Wings. Bananarama's "Venus" is better to me (the remix in particular) than the Shocking Blue version from the 1960s.
