“Rocker”: True. Not sure about the Queen comparison.

“A Baby Smiles”: Real song, but the 1979 date is unconfirmed.

id love to know where this info is from like how would anyone know if CGYWOOM was discussed in a sony meeting...weirdly specific piece of info right?

also how is it legal to auction songs off? aren't the only people who hold the copyright to sell these songs are the estate the writers and producers? and all it takes is just one of those people to say no and it doesn't happen but somehow these tracks are being publicly sold to private collectors left right and center, i remember hearing about a track with Michael and Pavarotti being sold at one auction like how the F does that make sense...

also is brad the last kind of the last on hand producer in 2009 for mj? i wonder why no one sat down with him and asked him about the last songs he and mike worked on he must remember them well

ALSO ALSO lots of conflicting accounts on songs that feature Whitney and Mariah as duets or BGS, some say these exist some say they don't, don't know who to believe but i sure would love for that to happen, i think Mariah actually said in an interview once that they did a song together(not the WMCIG feature) but people said she might be remembering wrong IDK at this point

I'm confused. Am I right in thinking that Michael had his own music publishing company? And therefore owned the publishing rights to his own songs? Not the recording rights, obvs, they belong to Sony. But the publishing rights? I thought that Michael had that all sorted. Which means, as you say here, that the estate presumably now owns them along with any other credited writers and whichever relevant producer was involved.

and all it takes is just one of those people to say no and it doesn't happen but somehow these tracks are being publicly sold to private collectors left right and center,
Has everyone with a legal connection to any particular song really agreed to sell it off? How does that help the estate with future releases? I am SO confused. I must be missing something really obvious here. I'm not a lawyer or a musician so I don't know at what point in its life cycle a song becomes the legal property of a music publishing company.

If the estate wanted a particular song for a future project, why would they put themselves in a position where they have to negotiate with a private collector? That sounds like madness.

i remember hearing about a track with Michael and Pavarotti being sold at one auction like how the F does that make sense...
It doesn't make sense. Not to me, anyway. Is it because the estate thinks it can make loads more money off a particular song by selling it at auction vs. however much they think that particular song could contribute to any future project?

However many songs are left in the vault, how can it make any sense to break up that collection? Regardless of whether any of the songs are complete or not, I don't understand why you'd do that.

the only logical answer is that this is done in a pirated illegal way but its so public that the estate must know this is happening so its weird how they just let it happen and not sue people left and right.

im pretty sure that the pav&mj song was fake and i know they sold the bible jason malachi album in an auction and that makes sense for the estate to not act on but CGYWOOM is 100 precent mj singing how did that even go up on sale? crazy..

“Smooth Criminal” too, for the average fan lol
Fun fact, "Annie" in "Smooth Criminal" refers to a dummy which is used by the lifeguards during their training. Once they "save" the dummy from drowning during the training, it's a kind of a protocol to ask "Annie, are you ok?".

Now how does this relate to Smooth Criminal? I have no idea, but from what I have read here and there, apparently Mike liked the sound of it. It fits the rhythm of Smooth Criminal. Of course, a part from that rhythmic sentence, there may be other things behind the lyrics too.

I didn't even think of that. That is how naive - and honest - I am. But if it is illegal stuff happening in plain sight, I agree, how can the estate just stand aside and let it happen? I get that they have a lot of stuff to deal with but you surely can't let something like this go? Surely you step in and challenge it? You'd have the law on your side. Either it's happening legally, in which case they are all mad, or it is all illegal in which case they are being derelict in their duty of care towards Michael's estate.

Yes, this is does make more sense.

but CGYWOOM is 100 precent mj singing how did that even go up on sale? crazy..
I'm just 🤔 perhaps with a side order of 😨

problem with the illegal theory is that if these songs are auctioned at legit places they need to supply the buyer with certificates and shit to let them know its legit, don't think you'd print out certificates for something you sell on the DL so again more confusion hopefully someone here knows a bit more on whats actually going on

That's a good point. Something else I didn't think about. No legit auction house is gonna take any item if the seller can't show the provenance and legal ownership. We're not talking about a dodgy chancer flogging stuff out of a suitcase round the back of a pub, lol.

don't think you'd print out certificates for something you sell on the DL so again more confusion
You totally would do that, wouldn't you?

hopefully someone here knows a bit more on whats actually going on
oh god, I really hope someone will come along who can shed some light on this or suggest a plausible theory of what might actually be going on here. I'm still SO confused.

Well, only the physical item's been auctioned. No transfer of any copyright included.
what do you mean, it says here it was auctioned but not sold they still have to verify its legitimacy and make sure they can sell it in the first place and by the way thats not the only unreleased ive heard been sold in an auction

Don't be messing round is supposedly reworked for each studio album since off the wall. This would be very interesting to hear chronologically
Yeah I really wonder It too.We only have Thriller And Bad Era versions:

A good chunk of that is fake, the info on Is She Coming Back is unknown. Hollywood is really just an alternative title of Hollywood Tonight. I Love You, I Love You More, I Forgive You, I Don't Live Here Anymore, House Of Style, Halloween Night, I Am Forever are fake and Hot Fever is really just the working title of TWYMMF.

Also does anyone have this list of songs that found on Michael's bedroom photo or list would be great:)

I also still have hopes for more finished versions of in the back and beautiful girl

In The Back is always one I've hoped there was a more complete version. When taking into account that they picked what they considered to be the best version of each song to go on The Ultimate Collection that reality doesn't seem likely.
