Hot topic What unreleased demos and remixes do you think will be on Thriller 40 Disc 2?

I think Thriller40 is the first reissued record in the history whose entire tracklist is kept a secret until prior to a week before its release.
Well I can come with the highly incompetent Shady Records (Eminem’s label) that I constantly shit on. They released a greatest hits album without announcing the Tracklist some months ago lol.

Being a fan of both him and MJ makes me jealous of other artists no joke.

Well, Jimmy Brian and Mike was amazing, em came back and finished it up for the release.

One new song and instrumentals on expanded editions.

Don’t get me wrong, I love collecting and I got tons of CDs and vinyls. But project like Curtain Call 2 and expanded editions are rather lacking.

'In The Back' is not an example of scratch vocals because it is a vocally finished track that was even meant to get a release in that vocal state on the 'Blood On The Dance Floor' album.
The funniest and most ludicrous thing I’ve read so far on this thread. So, a song on which Michael goes “ta ta ta ta ta” during the verses is a “vocally finished track”.

You learn something new everyday I guess.

I remember we heard the songs on Bad 25, the week before it was released so it's likely we'll hear something in the next week or so

I do know some, and again same scenario, instrumentals, chorus only, for the most part.
U heard all songs with Loren and Babyface ? But u did not hear them all tell me which songs u heard?

Scratch vocals are vocals that are recorded without the intention of keeping them or using them in the final stages of production (of the song).

Scratch vocals are recorded along with the rhythm parts of the song (drums, percussion, etc) in order to set the general vibe of the song and also to help the musicians play their parts.

Scratch vocals are also going to be later replaced with better vocals (on a song).

The 'Jam' original demo from the 'Dangerous' sessions (which is available on YouTube) is a clear example of his scratch vocals.
This guy is like if "For All Time was a Thriller outtake" was a living, breathing person

The entire deluxe edition will be available for streaming in 10 days on 11/17 - a day earlier than the physical cd release.

it says 10 days because it will be released at a specific time on 11/18. For me it's now 10pm 11/07 and rounded up it's 10 days til the release

Preordered on Amazon just now, always hope it gets delivered early lol. I managed to get the Immortal CD a few days early I remember so fingers crossed lol
If it does get delivered early, don't you dare share that or you'll get a cool looking 500k fine lmao

I think the saddest thing is that the last song Michael managed to finish (For All Time) is incorrectly labelled by him as a Thriller demo.
The entire Thriller 25 project gives off the impression that MJ didn’t want to do it. Pushing for remixes in place of unreleased tracks, tossing a random Dangerous outtake on there… It’s not becoming for the best-selling album of all time.

That’d make this the better Thriller 40 anniversary release, would it not?

When you compare Thriller 2001 Special Edition, Thriller 25, and Thriller 40, the gains have increased.

2001 - 1 song, basically cut down to a snippet, and some interview bits.

2008 - Several remixes, some of which I can still enjoy (as guilty pleasures), 1 with actual new vocals. 1 new Song, not actually a Thriller outtake, we'll just call it a Thriller 25 outtake. And some demoes, B-Sides, and rarities, scattered on various singles mostly in Japanese countries..and Someone in the Dark.

Thriller 40 - All of the above, several demoes, 1 entirely new outtake, so far, and a couple of obnoxious teases. Basically 2 or 3 new entities and then other stuff to pad it out. Still, overall, a lot more than Thriller 25 and basically a true project over the Special Edition.

Absolutely. All things considered, I still think this is the best Thriller reissue, and the second-best MJ reissue overall (behind Bad 25). Not perfect whatsoever, but this is some of the most value I’ve yet seen from this sort of project.
