The main reason he wore heavy makeup had nothing to do with sex or gender; it was to conceal his vitiligo. Karen Faye said he tried hiding it from her too, at the beginning...but in a relatively short timespan, it became much more difficult to use the brown areas of his skin as a starting point...
The one thing that struck me as most unnecessary (and to be honest, pretty annoying), had to do with Michael grabbing his crotch during dance routines. Yes, I remember his explanation from the Oprah interview, but even after that it seemed he just kept doing it. I kept wanting to tell him, "We...
I was completely unfamiliar with this accident until reading about it in this thread just now. It makes sense though, that such a stress could lead to MJ's use and later addiction to propofol. I've read Frank Cascio's book, but its been a few years since then, so I don't recall any references to...
Re: Do you think it was wrong for Michael to take The Beatles Catalog away from Paul McCartney?
The way I heard it, Paul was given first dibs on the catalogue, but passed because of the price. Michael then picked it up, which he had already mentioned to Paul in a previous conversation. Why...
I think its only natural, for people to compare artists of any kind with another in their field. Having said that, I don't think Justin Beiber has reached the same level as Michael in any way, shape, or form. Prince, maybe - that's debatable.
I was counting it as one trait among many, not exclusive to itself. People with Asperger's often have a very intense focus on a single area of interest, or maybe two. Their interest in their chosen subjects may border on obsession, at least in the eyes of observers...and that's why I brought it...
Re: Whats your favorite MJ video of the day
For a long time now, my fave video from Michael has been "Blood on the Dance Floor". The choreography is amazing, and I still think the song itself is highly underrated.
Thanks so much, to all of you who have replied to this thread so far. I brought this up mainly because I live with Asperger's myself every day, so I think I know some of the signs to look for. I wasn't diagnosed myself until 2013, at the age of 33, but once that happened it provided a lot of...
OK, a quick disclaimer here: I am not talking about the extreme cases like cerebral palsy; we all know he wasn't a victim of that. But I have Asperger's Syndrome, and I've been thinking that Michael may have had that or something similar, judging by his attitudes and habits. The chronic...
I remember being skeptical about MJ having vitiligo, until I saw a grocery-store cashier in Dallas who was afflicted with it. They almost looked like Two-Face from the Batman comics, with one side of their face mostly black and the other side mostly Caucasian. It was also on their hands, so from...
I haven't seen any of these videos, but my own label for Mr. Robson would be "one of the biggest liars in the world". He survived grueling questions from attorney Tom Sneddon and defense attorney Tom Mesereau, insisting Michael never did anything to him. He only switched stories after losing a...
Thanks for sharing your perspective on Frank Cascio; I loved his book and thought it was 100% true. There's some things in it that I doubt a scammer would include, which make Michael out to be as fallible as the rest of us. No rational person would include those details, if they hoped to profit...
Its really tough for me to pick just one, but at the moment I'd choose "Man in the Mirror". That said, I also think "Just Good Friends" is highly underrated.
"Invincible" is a highly underrated album, and folks need to give it more of a chance. I still remember all the fuss surrounding its first release, and its hard to believe that was almost 20 years ago.
Re: Do you think there will be another person similar to Michael in another lifetime or century?
I highly doubt anyone will reach Michael's level of success any time soon. Some have tried, Justin Timberlake being one example...but it hasn't worked very well.
I watched "Square One" a few days ago, and was baffled by some of it. I am glad someone took the effort to spell out all the 1993 crap that happened, without dwelling on it in a way that made me want to vomit.
I think Michael could have done all fifty shows, if he had been allowed to medically recuperate first and pace himself overall (maybe one date per week). Sadly, AEG and Michael's handlers wanted to rush the whole thing, and they didn't stop to think about Michael's health. He needed to be taken...
I have ten different books about Michael in my collection. At the moment, I'm about halfway through Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard's book "Remember the Time", and I've also read the first couple of chapters in "83 Minutes", about the immediate aftermath regarding Michael's death.
Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"
I only have one thing to say about Wade Robson's claims, and here it is: either he was an expert liar then, or he's trying desperately to be one now. Tom Mesereau called Robson as his very first defense witness...
