Bruh, I hope he can recover his laptop and whatever else. Though, it sounds like this went down in the middle of the event (or around the start). That's crazy, either way.
So, I choose both options for unreleased songs and for the studio footage. I do hope more unreleased demos and early versions of songs especially from the BAD sessions will see the light of day. Same for studio footage from that time.
Now, I don't know if this means the track sheets or not but in Joseph Vogel's 2019 edition of "Man and the Music", there are mentions of session calendars (especially for BAD). These were apparently referred to when speaking of recording session dates, and I now have to wonder if he had access...
@staywild23 Thank you very much for sharing some of your experience at the seminar! Honestly, while I appreciate you keeping brevity in mind, I would have been more than happy with reading the whole thing no matter how long it was (speaking of which, I would like to express my interest in being...
For me, and always on the top of my list, is the song BAD. From the initial conception to the final mix.
As a side note, I would love to have been there to witness those 1985-1987 sessions. The days would no doubt be long be very well worth it to experience.
Honestly, if such a release did exist, I would be honestly be content...as long as they started with BAD. :) Just imagine finally hearing the Pee demo!
That does sound like a good idea.
Like, I would personally focus each on just a single song (as you suggested) and then starting from from the earliest idea, or version, on up. There is a high chance that for most of the songs that's been released, there are several versions and mixes not even...
I also understand, and where I read it escapes me at the moment but it was from those who worked on the album, that the short film was what pretty much shaped the final version of the song, structure-wise. According to the BAD 25 Documentary, editing on the short film started around December...
So, this is from what I have found out so far:
- That catchy drum machine loop that plays during Beat It was mostly likely sequenced on the Roland TR-808.
- Gear-wise, the Synclavier was the main star of the BAD album with other synths such as: Yamaha DX-7, Roland D-50 and JX10, Oberheim...
The book is already looking interesting but you know what would make it even more great? If they also included the recording dates. Either way, here's hoping the book will be an interesting read!
As we all may know, today--August 31, 2017, marks the 30th anniversary of one of Michael Jackson's most recognized albums (and Short Films).
I may have told this story before, but though I wasn't (most unfortunately) around back in 1987 to witness the hype and release firsthand, I was exposed...
I love instrumentals of MJ's songs, they allow me to appreciate the music all the more!
One of the first instrumentals I listened to was of 'Bad'; it's interesting how different a song sounds without the vocals. My only thing with this instrumental is how the vocals kick in at the very end; it...
I've never really actually thought about it because, well, I don't usually think about it. However, each album does definitely sound like a product of their respective eras (which I just LOVE). Having said that, I have a feeling that these albums were considered out of this world compared to the...
Re: Brad Sundberg seminars: Making Music With Michael Jackson
Now, that book? I'd definitely read it! I also hope he is able to actually finish it and something tells me it'll be a book that'll be hard to put down! To add to what Coda's saying, who knows how long Brad's going to keep holding...
Re: Brad Sundberg seminars: Making Music With Michael Jackson
That does sound like fun; I do enjoy doing it with the multitracks and stems I'm come across online. Though, you can go ahead and say it, if you want. I don't mind knowng which songs; it's going to be quite a while before I get to go...
Re: Brad Sundberg seminars: Making Music With Michael Jackson
If I'm going to spend 7 hours somewhere, Brad's Seminars would be it! How long was the Extended Remix? Did you get to remix any songs and can you tell me what songs were, if any?
