micheal.jpg

It has been announced that A new Michael Jackson song has appeared online sparking rumours that he is making his long awaited come back. The song called ‘Hold My Hand’, featuring Akon has cropped up on various websites including You Tube but the video has now been taken down due to copyright issues, which is a shame because I would love to hear the new song and I am sure many of you would to.

The mid-tempo track is said to feature the lyrics: “Things will get better if you just hold my hand.” The song has had a mostly positive response from commentators, with one fan saying the song marks “the return of the king.”

No release date has been scheduled for the album as of yet but it will be a follow up to 2001’s ‘Invincible’ Which to was fantastic.

It has been previously reported that Kanye West, Ne-Yo, and Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am are among the artists working with Michael on the record. Kanye confirmed that “I’m working on stuff for Michael Jackson.”
I can not wait for his new album to come out. Do you think that he can make a great come back I do.

Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer
Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - A song that Michael Jackson and Akon have worked on together has been leaked to the Internet.

"Hold My Hand," which features the vocals of the Prince of Pop and the R&B artist, has made its way in the Web. Its earlier version without Jackson's contributing vocals was also leaked in February.

The track is part of Akon's upcoming album that is due later this year. Since the yet untitled album has not been completed yet, there's no assurance whether the song would make the cut. There's also no plan to release the song as a single.

This is not the first time that Akon has collaborated with the music legend. They had also worked on the track "Wanna Be Startin Somethin'" for Jackson's re-released album "Thriller" earlier this year.

Stax Records to Release Long Awaited "Moon Ride," the Debut Album from Legendary Songwriter Leon Ware
THE TWELVE-SONG COLLECTION HITS STORES ON AUGUST 12, 2008

Stax Records is proud to announce the release of Moon Ride, the debut album from legendary songwriter, producer and vocalist, Leon Ware. A music maker for four decades, Leon's list of impressive credits includes classic recordings by Quincy Jones, Minnie Riperton, Michael Jackson, Maxwell, Average White Band and of course, the late Marvin Gaye (whose Ware-written and produced “I Want You" LP remains a seminal Motown album). The hypnotically evocative “Loceans" expresses a romantic love and lust for life. In the tradition of his prior recordings and work with others, songs on the new album like “Just Take Your Time," “Hold Tonight" and “Smoovin'" are love-filled odes, a heady mix of fantasy and reality. The 12-track collection of new Ware-produced material will be in stores on August 12, 2008.

A Kuwaiti Operetta for Palestine Peace
By Hussain Al-Qatari, Kuwait Times

Jul. 1--KUWAIT -- Kuwait university students staged an operetta Sunday evening in Shamiya theatre to promote peace in Palestine. An operetta is a musical stage production that contains many elements of opera but is usually comedic and lighter in content. The two dramatic scenes depicted in the Kuwait operetta, however, dealt with the tragic subject of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The two performances were followed by four songs: Will You Be There (originally performed by Michael Jackson), performed by Yasmine Gad, followed by Heal The World (also originally by Michael Jackson) performed by a group of students, as well as an original number written and composed by Peace Group member Ibrahim Al-Hulail and performed, also, by Yasmine Gad entitled The World is Crying. The operetta closed with The Arabian Dream, a song originally performed by a group of prominent Arab singers from all around the Arab region.

Dance Machine

- Signature Move: Much like TLC's recently wrapped Master of Dance, ABC's Dance Machine isn't so much about mind-blowing, backflipping, mid-air splits-ing talent as it is about pitting "regular folk" against each other in silly dance-offs. Added bonus: less Joey Lawrence and more E! correspondent Jason Kennedy (i.e.: Ryan Seacrest Lite). The season premiere this Friday on A-Channel is boasting a showdown between a 70-year-old grandma and a 25-year-old gravedigger -- to the tune of Michael Jackson's Thriller. Which one will look the most like your drunk uncle at a family wedding? We can't wait!

Quit Mouth Loud Hands

Damiera

Reviewed by: John-Michael Bond

[...]
Damiera, it appears, have been taking notes from Michael Jackson’s two best records, Thriller and Bad, records which blended hard rocking riffs with R&B vocal rhythms. “Teacher, Preacher” probably best shows off this new dichotomy between heavy and pop, with its Thriller-referencing vocal lines and guitar licks, but other songs like “Blinding Sir Bluest” also rock with a funky R&B twist. Quiet Mouth, Loud Hands shows that Damiera isn’t content to simply rewrite the same record over and over as their career moves forward, and if these guys could land on a few radio station playlists this record has got a number of could be/should be hits on it. At the very least least Damiera have made groups like Maroon 5 look that talentless hacks who simply ape the King of Pop and Prince instead of taking their leads in new directions. This wasn’t the record I was expecting at all, but now that I’ve given it some proper listens I hope the band never looks back.

Just after midnight, Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” a 25-year-old song that has again become a hugely popular party anthem, beckoned co-eds in summer dresses to the dance floor. A few of the braver young men quickly followed the tanned, predominately vodka-drinking pack, hoping for a chance.

But this scene was not your uncle playing early ’80s pop music at the high school dance. This version of “Billie Jean” was overlaid with the chorus and beats from “D.A.N.C.E.,” an international club hit by the French DJ duo Justice, a white-hot act favored by the world’s trendsetters.

DJ Mikey Thunder, who worked the turntables during the “Billie Jean” remix, has in recent months taken up a twice-weekly residency at 43 North, a well-frequented bar that has also become a hot spot for dance music in the valley. On Tuesday and Friday nights there, Thunder, along with “Just Kenny” Tsumari and others from the local coterie of local DJs, spins and splices a mix of contemporary and vintage tracks, re-imagining familiar songs, and replanting collective music memory into new contexts. But, more simply, it is about having fun.

"I love Spanish guitar music, especially Tarrega by Recuerdos de la Alhambra. It reminds me of warm fields with wild flowers and butterflies. I also like Pachelbel's Canon in D major. Third is Gabrielle's Sunshine ("through my window, that's what you are…"). This is the track that most reminds me of my fabulous boyfriend. Fourth is Deep Forest's Sweet Lullaby, a great driving tune. I recommend this if you have driven into a yellow grid box and have 20 irate lorry drivers shouting at you. Finally is Michael Jackson's Keep The Faith, because Michael Jackson has to appear in every good playlist. My guilty pleasure is We Are Family by Sister Sledge."

John Mayer Admires Paramore's Punk Attitude, Pete Wentz's 'Heart And Brain'
Guitar-strumming rocker says he 'needs to find a way to go away' to complete next LP.
By Chris Harris, with reporting by Matt Elias
[...]
If he's going to get less "airy," Mayer's head might need a bit of deflating after the flattery he recently got from Fall Out Boy, who asked him to fill Eddie Van Halen's immense shoes on their cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It."

"It's just such a cool compliment," he said. "When I heard about 'FNMTV,' that Pete [Wentz] was starting a show that was going to launch videos on MTV - that guy's heart and brain are so centered in the right place. So, when he asked me if I wanted to play on 'Beat It,' I said, 'Absolutely.' I turned down [the chance to be] in the video, because that's just part of the trivia of Eddie Van Halen being the guitar player on 'Beat It' but not being in the video. I thought not being in the video was more interesting for the guitar solo than to be in the video. It keeps that quality."

Matt: Obviously, you don’t get enough credit for Michael Jackson’s Thriller album.

Steve: You know, it's funny, I played everything on “Beat It” except the guitar solo, but no one ever mentions my name. Eddie, you know, he just did a take and on the fly. But, he was Eddie, you know?

Matt: Did you have any idea how big it would be when you made that album?

Steve: Michael had sold about 8, 10 million records, which was very strong even back then. He was on a roll and once he was producing they got a lot of money behind it, and there were all these incredible musicians and songwriters and people hanging around. There was a certain vibe in the air.

What a Fine Knight

The Epoch Times Ottawa Staff

Organizers couldn't have picked a better act to close out this year's Ottawa Jazz Festival. Watching Gladys Knight in concert was a bit like visiting an old friend and reminiscing about good times together.

Personable on stage, Knight had a preamble to each song, talking about the early days of her career with Motown Records or just joking with the crowd.

After opening with a jazzed up version of Michael Jackson's "Shake Your Body Down to the Ground," Knight sang an extended version of "Love Overboard," followed by "You're the Best Thing That Ever happened to Me," after which she exclaimed, "I like that song!"
