I want my daughter to live a normal life I want her to feel free to be who she wants, so paparazzi stop taking pics of her! Enough! It's times like these where I understand why Michael Jackson had his kids covered they were able to be anonymous. Until they decided to be public. We need a law against this! Taking pics of kids is sick! Sorry everyone. I'm pissed. Just imagine for one second you having fun with ur kid in the park and a bunch of a holes start surrounding you and freaking ur kid out.

In Europe actually there are laws against it. In the US journalists have way too much "rights" IMO. They are like some holy cows of the US society. With rights those even enable them to violate others' rights. I also mean laws like the shield law which enables them to lie about and slander anyone - thus potentially ruin lives - without consequences.

^^ Yes, I think so, because I remember when papers' published pictures of the children of Formula One driver, Michael Schumacher and he sued them and since then none of the papers dare to publish such pics. So if he could sue them for it and stop them with it, then there must be laws protecting children at least from paparazzi.

I think what Michael did was completely understandable. Props to Christina. The press just wanted to make it into another 'weird' thing he did, rubbish. Extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary actions. Adjust, or be lambs to the paparazzi slaughter!

People didn't give Michael enough credit for anything! Protecting his children was his main priority because he knew from experience how intrusive thos tabloid leaches are....thank you Christina for acknowledging that to the world! Michael was a loving, caring and sensitive person who deserved more respect than those "rag mags" ever gave him!

Yes you're right, here in France we can often see papers sued for publishing non-authorized pics - those papers know who they can pictured and who they can't - the privacy is protected and it's the main reason why Michael has searched to buy a home in France in the late 90's. Unfortunately he did not find :(

It's not like Michael was going to do it forever but just long enough for them to have a childhood and have what he didn't have. He wanted his kids to have a normal life. I think more people will get it and even his own kids get it and understand. Michael was a great dad.

Thanks Christina. I guess people have to experience the situation, like Christina did for them to get it. It is a pity though that people cannot get it merely by putting themselves in Michael and his kids situation and trying to understand it.

Props to Christina for acknowledging the truth but why any famous person (not closed to him) didn't dare to give Michael credit for protecting his children when he was with us!? That's what I don't get... :sigh:

I think any celebrity who has children should understand this, but of course MJ was the most targeted for being the megastar he is. They wanted to know every detail of his life, including about his children.

you are right about the U.S. media. that is why i was always so bitter about them, and, to this day, believe nothing they say. they led the charge against MJ.

It annoys me too because he did explain things like that when he was here. He explained his vitiligo too for example and people just didn't want to listen to him. I wish he was given more understanding and compassion when he was here. I just hope more people will get it too now.

That's why Halle Berry wants to move to France w/French boyfriend and her small child. In France there is respect of privacy, here in the U.S. you have the Freedom of Speech which allows anyone to say or publish anything they want- well almost. But the point is the press has a lot more liberty here because of that amendment in the constitution, and more often than not it comes back to bite many, many citizens as it did Michael. I hate the press here.

Michael was a wonderful father and knew exactly what he was doing. He only wanted to protect his kids because he knew what the media would do to their lives. But the media built a brand around Michael that was a total and complete myth and anything Michael did was perceived as crazy or weird because of this so called myth started by the media. It always upsets me thinking about this.

But I am glad that at least now some ppl are realizing what he did was reasonable and understandable.

In France, to publish a picture of a kid you need the agreement from the 2 parents. It must be a sign agreement and you can't publish a picture of anyone even celebrities without their agreement.

Well said.
By reading articles about Michael, it seems to me that 2 complete different Michael's exist. The real one, and the one made up by media. Media started creating and making up stories of Michael, because they couldn't get any interviews from him.

Well Freedom offre the Press is better in Europe if you believe Reporters without borders.

I find it more strange that people can´t understand why Michael´s children had masks than that they actually was wearing them.

Yep that is so true cuz the media were angry that they couldnt get to michael and twist his words around like martin bashir did. I hate the fact that bashit tricked him and played mj , it angers me so much

Bub and 8701 I do not think the media started writing bs about Michael because they could not get any interviews from him, although I think that plays a small part. I remember they began attacking him since the 70's when he became older and was competing with people the mainstream music artists favor, like the Osmondsd. When he was little, he was seen as the cute Black genius, but as he became a teen the adoration shifted. The gay stories and the female hormones to keep the younger voice stories began to come out. As he became an even bigger star that was loved by people of more cultures, and as his contributions began to be compared to media darlings like Elvis, the stories became even more negative; and they attacked not only the person but his art as well. Further, this Michael, dare to dress and act in a very individualistic manner and was not fawning on the press. He was doing his own thing both in his music and personal life, which infuriated them more. So although I believe that to a certain extent, the lies were created due to a lack of a formal interview, I see the lies as coming out in full force, as Michael left the baby stage and was becoming a huge, global star that competed with the mainstream popular artists that the media including magazines like the Rolling Stones were promoting.

Look at Prince. He hardly gives interviews. In fact, even the American Bandstand host said how difficult it was to interview Prince because he gives one word answers. Prince was never maligned in the press as Michael was because he was never a threat to the established heroes. It was Michael who broke records, who was known in small African and Indian villages, whose dress and style people copied, whose music was different, who was invited to see presidents, etc. This is an old story in the world--Those who are talented, and therefore are seen as a threat, are attacked and ridiculed.

I think people were jealous and felt threatened by Michael. I don't know why because he was a good person and he worked hard. But when someone gets powerful and have the world see them it bothers some and they tried to bring him down. A friend of mine told me something related to me about something and I think it fits in here with what I am trying to say. I think people knew Michael worked hard but they get jealous because they want what he had but not work as hard. People were cruel to Michael and if he did something it was looked at as weird and crazy. But if anyone else did the exact same thing it was okay or they were given the benefit of the doubt. That wasn't right. Maybe someday a celebrity will cover their children's faces like Michael did and people won't say anything and just understand what they are trying to do.

Well, if Michael find it necessary to keep his children's face covered, it was because of the media. If they'd had promised never to take pics of the kids, I believe Michael'd needed it to cover their faces. The media should accept that Michael did that out of love & out of need to protect his children and not because he was crazy. He has his reasons and they were his own reasons.

btw: I always liked Christine, especially in Married with Children. She made me laugh a lot. Good, she understands Michael's position. While it's good to hear people voicing their understanding, it makes me feel sad & sometimes kind of mad because I wish they should have spoken when Michael was alive. He needed them then.
