Okay so I love true crime. One story that interests me and fascinates me is the story of the 1996 murder of 6 year old JonBenet Ramsey

I was watching Aphrodite Jones on ID and they showed some "new evidence" and one thing was a shoeprint found of a boot. There were two- one was identifiable and then the other print was not able to identify.

Also, I was too young to know about this case so forgive me if I'm not posting anything "new" but in 2003 I think, the JonBenet story broke again with the parents hiring their own P.I.s One individual, in Feb 1997 D.A. broadcasted to the media that they will find the killer. Less than 24 hours after that, there was a suicide of a 26 year old petty criminal who was in the Boulder area. This was in connection with the Ramsey case because a pair of this guy's boots matched the boot print from the Ramsey's basement the night of Dec. 26 1996.

Anyway I find it interesting. Discuss (??)

RIP to both Mother Ramsey she lost her battle with ovarian cancer afew years ago & to her beloved JonBenet.

She was so beautiful... :(

She looks like my 5 years old cousin, my cousin just have brown hair.

she was so naturally beautiful even without all the glam & makeup, she was so naturally cute & pretty & I would have imagined what she would look like now.

I did see alot on TV of the case. Very tragic.

There were alot of wierd things about that case. The ransom note was especially wierd. It had the exact $amount that the father had rec'd for a bonus, something like that. I would have to refresh my memory. The police totally botched the case as they decided immediately it was a family member, one of the parents - specifically the mother. I believe the theory was that Jon Benet was a bedwetter & the mother lost her temper & then they covered up. Another theory was that it was the brother & the parents covered up. Who can forget the Carr guy? I remember a police officer going on TV right away saying it was not an outside intruder and noone had to worry as alot of people were worried. IMO it was not the Ramseys. It never made sense. I have seen alot of the coverage over the years. There was alot in the tabs. People made alot of money, I am sure about it.

There have been investigators who have explored it in a tv special, saying it was an outside intruder. There was also an older guy who had been playing Santa that came to the home & I'm pretty sure he was on Geraldo's talk show - I believe it was discussed alot on there. I do remember stories on TV talking about the young guy mentioned in the article & I think he had a taser gun that would have been like the one that left marks on Benet's body. As I recall there were 2 black marks on her - and I think there some sort of unusual tourniquet around her neck that a military person would know - as I recall the father served in the navy.

I see it here:

Aphrodite Jones Opens Up the 'JonBenet Pandora`s Box' Once Again!

The JonBenet Ramsey case is fascinating on many levels. The crime itself, the way it was investigated by the Boulder Police, and the sensationalized coverage by the media, all contribute to its notoriety. True Crime with Aphrodite Jones, which was broadcast last night on Investigation Discovery, did a good job at reanimating the dynamics of the JonBenet mystery.

Last night I did a Google search of JonBenet, in order to get up to speed on the case. I set the record function on my DVR to the 10:00 PM setting on ID, knowing full and well I had an appointment with the Sandman on this breezy spring evening. I`m reviewing the taping this morning and putting things back in there proper place.

Let`s see, there`s that odd looking Hansel and Gretel cottage of the Ramsey`s, tabloids of the radiant beauty pageant child, footage of the anguished couple, and then there`s Jon Mark Carr, a diversionary dead-end that entertaining nonetheless. Just the images alone captivate your attention. Yet, so many details were lost.

Aphrodite Jones exposes many of these new angles, that were obviously overlooked by the Boulder Police, who remained focused on the parents, John and Patsy Ramsey. But the theory that two intruders came in and killed JonBenet is now growing in confidence amongst investigators. I will mention just four of the clues that were news to me.
The first one that caught my eye, is a suitcase was left beneath a window to the basement, that was likely used by the intruder/killers. Why wasn`t this mentioned before? The intruders left it there so they could use it as a makeshift stepladder to make a getaway after doing what they did. Lou Smit, a homicide investigator, points out this massive omission.
The next new clue, and possibly breakthrough evidence, is that two footprints were left in the basement. This proves that two outsiders were in the Ramsey`s home on December 26th, 1996. One footprint can be traced to a particular boot, made by a company called High Tech. This ties in handily with what I`ll say in just a minute.
An open house Christmas party a few days before the crime is touched on next. This was an opportunity for the criminals to case the Ramsey home. I believe this is exactly what happened. The Ramseys must have known the intruders, albeit if only a distant acquaintance.
One witness who was at one of JonBenet`s beauty pageants, shortly before she was murdered, said a man went up and talked with JBR, posing as her father. Could this man have something to do with it? This was new information for me. Why wasn`t this suspicious incident reported in the news?
The last clue I want to mention, revealed in this groundbreaking special, was the questionable suicide of 26 year old Michael Helgot, the day after Alex Hunter`s stunning press conference, when he said the search for the killer is narrowing to one. You`ll want to rewind the tape to the blonde-haired suspect scene several times over. A stun-gun was found. High Tech boots were found.
In the introduction, Aphrodite Jones says that other than Jack The Ripper, JonBenet is the ONE in terms of importance to both the public and to law enforcement specialists. As for myself, I take an interest in the historiography of JonBenet.
I want to look back at how the crime was reported in news stories and in books. This is equally fascinating as the confusing barrage of evidence that makes little sense. Aphrodite Jones opens up Pandora`s Box again, but what we see is entirely different.

I must say I trust nothing with Aphrodite Jones - but could be interesting.

Was looking for something else - saw that Diane Demon reported extensively on John Mark Karr. Not sure how much she reported initially on the case, can't tell by the internet. With the likes of her around - hard to find justice.

I've been interested in this case for a while now, it's definitely one of those intriguing things that you can't forget!

I remember reading up on it a few months ago, and coming to the conclusion that there was definitely something fishy about the whole thing. For example, the house wasn't declared a crime scene at first and a lot of the evidence disappeared during those first few hours. Her father and a few other neighbours were let back into the house to look around, and they went down into the basement where her body was found. Her father picked her up and carried her back upstairs, destroying any evidence that could've been found on her.

It's just all too weird. That house was searched over and over before they found her, and suddenly her dad finds the body after a few minutes of searching the basement?

I personally think that she may have accidently slipped or got hurt in an argument with her mother, which would explain the head trauma they found that resembled someone hitting their head on a blunt surface such as the side of a basin or a bath. Maybe her mother or whoever was there panicked, realising that she was dead, and covered it up to look like a murder/rape - the body was found in the basement with rope tied loosely around the hands but it didn't match up to what the body had been through in the last few hours of being alive.

There was a ransom note. Even if you say it was a panic situation, they would never have written the note much less make it look like a murder/rape. That makes no sense to me. They would have just staged a simple accident - not one which would have raised all these questions of an obvious kidnap/murder. The police did a terrible job, plain & simple - making it very difficult to solve. And then they(police) did things imo to make it look like they were not at fault.

I never said there wasn't a ransom note....haha! Never say never, anything is possible.

I think the investigation wasn't handled well - maybe not totally their fault as they thought it was a kidnap case from the ransom note. The father, John, if the parents had indeed been an accident, wouldn't have done it in that manner. He had been in the navy & was a business man in computers. He would be very logical. The parents called police after they found the note, just like you should. There was a woman police officer & I think she didn't like how they responded after finding the body, maybe she thought they were too reserved, not emotional enough or who knows. I remember seeing her on TV. But it would be quit a shock to go from a ransom to a murder of your daughter. The Ramseys are Episcopalian & tend to be stoic, too. I remember the footage of her coming out of the church. The ransom note was very directed toward John, so that could be telling.

I saw a special on TV quite a few years ago that had the det. talk about the suitcase, mentioned below. Can't remember if they talked about the footprints that Jones is talking about then, it was interesting.

The young man that committed suicide, there was a tv report on him, I don't know why he was eliminated as a suspect. Not sure if they ever got DNA from him or not.

The guy who played Santa was old & passed away - I believe I read that police asked for DNA & the widow refused - I think that was in a tabloid though.

This is the ransom note:

Mr. Ramsey

Listen carefully! We are a group of individuals that represent a small foreign faction. We do respect your bussiness [sic] but not the country that it serves. At this time we have your daughter in our posession [sic]. She is safe and unharmed and if you want her to see 1997, you must follow our instructions to the letter.

You will withdraw $118,000.00 from your account. $100,000 will be in $100 bills and the remaining $18,000 in $20 bills. Make sure that you bring an adequate size attache to the bank. When you get home you will put the money in a brown paper bag. I will call you between 8 and 10 am tomorrow to instruct you on delivery. The delivery will be exhausting so I advise you to be rested. If we monitor you getting the money early, we might call you early to arrange an earlier delivery of the money and hence a [sic] earlier delivery pick-up of your daughter.

Any deviation of my instructions will result in the immediate execution of your daughter. You will also be denied her remains for proper burial. The two gentlemen watching over your daughter do not particularly like you so I advise you not to provoke them. Speaking to anyone about your situation, such as Police, F.B.I., etc., will result in your daughter being beheaded. If we catch you talking to a stray dog, she dies. If you alert bank authorities, she dies. If the money is in any way marked or tampered with, she dies. You will be scanned for electronic devices and if any are found, she dies. You can try to deceive us but be warned that we are familiar with law enforcement countermeasures and tactics. You stand a 99% chance of killing your daughter if you try to out smart [sic] us. Follow our instructions and you stand a 100% chance of getting her back.

You and your family are under constant scrutiny as well as the authorities. Don't try to grow a brain John. You are not the only fat cat around so don't think that killing will be difficult. Don't underestimate us John. Use that good southern common sense of yours. It is up to you now John!

Victory!

S.B.T.C.

The amount of the ransom was very close to a bonus John had received.

Not to get off topic, but what those parents put that little girl through, making her do talent shows like that at such an early age, I personally don't like it, and consider it a form of emotional child abuse.

I would never EVER force my two little girls to do something like that and ride their coat tails to success. That's exactly what happened with Jon Benet, and some sick twisted pervert got to her, raped and murdered here.

I agree. I have 3 boys but still I would never do that. they should be children and play and have fun not worrying about some talent show where they have to be perfect to benefit the parents. that is wrong:(

Actually, if you read the story she was very much into doing the shows. She was the one who saw other little girls doing it, and asked her parents if she could do the same. There is no way you can force a child up there without part of them wanting to do it. I've seen children being forced up on the stage before, and let me tell you there are tears and tantrums. JoBenet wanted to perform, maybe the make up and adult-like routines were a little much, but she very much had her heart in it.
