Just finished watching! I thought it was adorable! No, it's not Pixar type animation, but it's not a Pixar budget! I think it will bring a lot of interest to MJ and his music to a new generation. Loved the Torture sequence!! There were a few corny bits, but still cute and very fun. I say well done!!

I liked it, although I thought the storyline moved a bit too fast and the way the commercials cut in so quickly was annoying. I like the way they animated Michael and the way he conquered Conformity reminded me of Captain Eo. Overall I thought it was good and a fun show. I think my favourite bit beside MJ of course, was the Pumpkin scene.

I like the idea of using animation for MJ and I would like to see something done on a more adult level. They could use his music to dig more deeply into the ideas they were going for in this one.

The moral of the story is not too conform and become an unfeeling zombie, who will eat your brains, instead! (laughing like Vincent Price!)

Enjoy yourself!

Watched #MJHalloween tonight, thought they did a good job. I loved the concept of a Michael Jackson Halloween themed cartoon. Was under the impression that MJ wasn't actually in it, so I was visibly thrilled when shows up and saves the day. I do believe Michael Jackson needs a better graphics team (they just can't get the face right) but other than that, I thought it was entertaining and I loved the message

'Michael Jackson's Halloween': Claiming Another Crown For The King Of Pop

https://www.forbes.com/sites/zackom...other-crown-for-the-king-of-pop/#2fa47b1c43dc

Every October, just as reliably as the autumn leaves start to change in colder climes, the songs of Michael Jackson creep back onto lists of the most-played—especially his Halloween-spooky “Thriller” and lesser-known “Somebody’s Watching Me,” a Rockwell track featuring his vocals.

Both songs figure prominently into Michael Jackson’s Halloween, an hourlong animated special set to air on CBS tonight. Directed by Mark Dippé and produced by Jackson estate co-executors John Branca and John McClain, the program will act as a family-oriented visual follow-up to recently-released album Scream, a compilation of Jackson’s eeriest work. It’s all part of an effort to cement his status as not just the King of Pop, but the King of Halloween.

“Michael loved Halloween, he loved animation; he was basically a big kid at heart,” says Branca. “We wanted to stay true to and be inspired by Michael and what his tastes and loves were.”

The special will follow two youngsters who meet by chance at This Place Hotel on 777 Jackson Street. Joined by a little white dog named Ichabod, they are confronted with a major choice, picking between what’s expected of them or following their dreams. They’re aided in their journey by Jackson himself—who takes the form of three characters: a dancing pumpkin, a spider security guard and a black cat scientist—in each case attempting to inspire the characters to find their true calling.

Aside from Jackson’s music, the special will have other familiar elements. The cast of voice actors includes CBS stars Lucy Liu and Jim Parsons; the animation takes stylistic cues from seasonal classics like The Nightmare Before Christmas.

“There's a lot of pieces … that inspire myself and my team in terms of animation style and look,” says Dippé. “It's a fantastic, magical world with these magical characters that are able to tell stories that, let's say, a normal human might not necessarily tell.”

That’s been a theme in the lucrative postmortem world of Jackson, who pulled in a stunning $825 million last year—the highest annual total ever amassed by any entertainer, dead or alive—thanks largely to the sale of his half of the Sony/ATV music publishing catalog. His cumulative postmortem pretax earnings tally now sits north of $1.5 billion.

With the catalog’s steady payouts now out of the picture and the Michael Jackson Immortal World Tour in the rearview mirror, the singer’s estate appears to be looking to establish other reliable income streams to couple with its remaining Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas and ongoing revenue from Jackson's own work. Locking in his Halloween supremacy seems like a wise move, beginning with the CBS special.

“We hope that it'll become evergreen,” says Branca. “We may actually do some updates from time to time after the first run. You know you see Charlie Brown Christmas and Charlie Brown Thanksgiving every year, so now we're looking to have Michael Jackson's Halloween every year.”

Don’t expect the program to push Jackson anywhere close to matching his once-in-an-afterlifetime 2016 payday. But will the King of Pop continue his reign as the top-earning star beyond the grave? Check back here on Monday to find out as we release our annual list of the highest-paid dead celebrities, just in time for Halloween.

Luke Skywalker sums up the entire film in one line:
5svJ2RM.gif

Hooooollllly SHIT that was TERRIBLE. The whole film and it's pacing was all over the place, the characters were poorly developed with some of the most horrendous dialogue I've heard for some time... and excluding Jim Parsons, who was good and felt genuine, the voice acting was average at best. The animation was utterly abysmal, even for a TV film. Quite literally the rabbit in Speed Demon, which was HAND ANIMATED and didn't have the benefit of motion capture, danced better than the characters in this film.

They could barely even get the music right! The music was often ill-fitting of the scene (even if the 'mood' worked, the speed of the piece often conflicted with the pacing of the scene), it was appallingly edited with it coming in and out at random points. I'll give it credit for the original mash-ups that we briefly heard. They were cool and it would've been nice to see them on the Scream album, maybe on Disc 2.

I know this sounds harsh but it really isn't that good. This is an utter embarrassment to the Michael Jackson brand. It was a good thing they released this the same day as Stranger Things - this isn't something you want people to see.

Realistically a 4 year old will probably enjoy it, then come back to watch it in a few years time and wonder what they even saw in it. It's not going to go on as a classic that families will enjoy for generations to come.

MJ's "MJ's Halloween" rating was at a terrible level. Until I watched this tv show.
I give 8/10
Reason: good mix like from Cirque du Soleil's Immortal & ONE

Are you the guy who said "it's shit", before you even watched it?

Excuse me if I ignore the poor review you probably searched high and low for (just because it matched your biased pre conceptions), whilst I read the many, many positive reviews from people who waited.

Edit.

Just realised it's YOUR review.

Says it all really.

Well actually no, I didn't say the whole film was shit before I saw it. What I actually posted about was an issue with the dancing animation that I saw, and I actually said many times that I was going to withhold my final opinion of the film until I saw it. Which I did.

The only part of my review that matched my 'biased pre conceptions' was about the animation. In my earlier posts, I never gave any opinion about the film's characters, the plot, the music, it's editing, the pacing because obviously I had no idea what it'd be like. In fact if you actually read my earliest posts in this thread, you'll actually see that I was going on about how this could be a great way to introduce young children to the music of Michael Jackson, that I hoped it would be great for all ages like a classic Pixar film.

And like, why would I be so against the film? If you read my posts on here, I'm generally pro-Estate so it's not some anti-Estate thing. Obviously I'm a hardcore Michael Jackson fan, so I love the idea of this and the idea of children getting to know Michael Jackson's music through a new medium. Just because I love his music to death doesn't mean I'm going to overlook that this was unfortunately a great idea that was horribly executed.

Honestly, don't get so overly defensive about something you haven't even seen mate.

I've seen it, and I loved it.

Mind you, I wasn't continually going on about Pixar movies beforehand, and expecting the same outcome.

You said the animated dance routines were "shit" from a one second dance clip that was shown. Then tried to back track a little when your 'over the top' reaction was questioned.

It has many positive comments from people, old and young, and has an 83% positive rating from Google users.

The negative comments can be, on most occasions, traced back to people who were negative about it beforehand - yours included.

I'm not overly sensitive. I'm just not a mug who gets conned by people with agendas or biases. I like to speak up when I see someone I think is 'trying it on'.

Your 'review' will always be tainted (in my view), by your seeming unwillingness to give the film a chance before it was released, and your "it's shit" comment about a one second dance clip.

Dude I literally said I didn't expect it to be Pixar level, and I wouldn't either unless Pixar (or some other huge Hollywood studio) was producing it.

Indeed I did, and yes I did back down a bit. But so what? I commented on a clip I saw in the teaser and stated many times I was going to reserve my final opinion until I watched the film in it's entirety. Which I did, and my opinion hasn't changed now having watched the film - especially given that I watched and replayed the dance sequences at the end when they're all jamming to Thriller.

The negative comments can be, on most occasions, traced back to people who were negative about it beforehand - yours included.
Your 'review' will always be tainted (in my view), by your seeming unwillingness to give the film a chance before it was released, and your "it's shit" comment about a one second dance clip.

I was negative about one aspect of the film. A film is made up of many many many aspects. Story, character, pacing, editing, cinematography, sound design, the score/songtrack, visual effects, etc etc. Like honestly, I can find a negative aspect about most films - even those I throughly enjoy.

I'm allowed to react to something in I see in a teaser, but speaking generally, I understand that things that appear off in a trailer can sometimes come off better in the final film where the filmmaker has the opportunity to properly set up the scene and thus what appeared weird in a trailer actually flows better in the final film. This is one big reason why I always reserve my final opinions of art until I actually see or play the final work in full. MJ's Halloween is no different.

You go on about my 'unwillingness' to give the film a chance because I criticised one aspect of the film? Nevermind I literally have said all of this before:
But honestly if the story and characters etc are great, then perhaps it can be overlooked and it'll do it's job and gain MJ some new young fans.
Granted you only see dancing for a handful of seconds, which is why like everything else I'm going to leave my final reservations until I see a copy of the film (hopefully in high definition) given the shortness of the teaser.
Once again I can't properly judge because I've only seen short snippets so I'm going to reserve my proper judgement until I see the film (or at least, a dance sequence for this particular thing).
I like they're trying new(ish) angles to gain a new audience of fans. There's a show on Netflix called The Beat Bugs, which is apparently rather popular with young kids. It's a show based on the music of The Beatles, often the cast and celebrities come in to sing covers of The Beatles songs, and from what I've read on various social media, many parents have said it's a great way to introduce young children to The Beatles music. This too seems like a great opportunity to introduce young kids to the music of Michael Jackson. It's obviously not targeted at me, but sure I'll check it out. Here's hoping it's great for all ages, like a classic Pixar film!

It has many positive comments from people, old and young, and has an 83% positive rating from Google users.

That's... nice? It's a subjective thing mate.

I'm not overly sensitive. I'm just not a mug who gets conned by people with agendas or biases. I like to speak up when I see someone I think is 'trying it on'.

Gets conned? I never said you or anyone actually had to agree with me or anything? Like I haven't even once tried to get you to agree with me so there's no 'conning' haha.

Sigh,

Can't we just appreciate the attempt to do something fun and different??? No, it wasn't perfect, but it was cute, and I for one appreciate the Estate trying to do something that Michael was a fan of, animation, not to mention Halloween.

I wasn't expecting perfection honestly, and while the dialogue could do with some tweaking, overall the theme and the music were winners.

he was a fan of animation in which was made right around one of michael's favourite seasons, and thats a good enough reason to support this project.

It's not Pixar. It's not Disney. It's not Oscar winning.

But; It's fun, especially for young people. It's got a great positive message. It's got tons of MJ music. It's positive towards MJ. It's part of making MJ and Halloween a yearly match. It's something MJ wanted to do.

Historic?

Just out of interest, how many sites have you copy and pasted your 'review' on?
