Oh, that's weird. Was gonna bump that exact one (as in, b&w not colour) but it seemed a bit too removed from the whole Thriller thing. But I'm glad you bumped it. So gorgeous. SO feckin' gorgeous.
Tbh, feeling a bit disconnected from all the Thriller hoop-la (although it's great, love it). Deeply immersed in BWT 1987 - mainly Tokyo (black top) and also Brisbane (with side order of Yokohama). Taking regular breaks to visit Bob Dylan Center but, otherwise, it's been non-stop BWT 1987 for ... I dunno. Have lost track of time. Coupla days, maybe. Am mesmerised. His eyes. Jeez. Feel quite disconnected from Dangerous and HWT.
First ever live footage I saw of Michael was the 12 minute Shake Your Body section from Yokohama. Liked it a lot but wasn't overwhelmed. Wish I had found this Tokyo gig a bit earlier. Or Brisbane. Jeez.

We seem to be going through same places in Michael metaverse.I am excited about the Thriller hoopla, especially about the new unreleased stuff from Thriller era, but don't know what we will get in Europe. Also I am not technical enough to worry about vinyl, SDCD (what is that), or remasters (whatever that means).
I have been in Michael therapy for couple of days, discovered HIStory Tunisia which looks sightly different from others. Therapy is starting to work now.

Yeah, when they all get technical I kind of tune out. Don't understand half of it. Well, remaster I understand (usually not too keen on remastered stuff, tbh) but SDCD, no clue. Also, as you say, the Europe track list is bound to be different. That's how they seem to do it. I don't really understand that, either. Not giving everyone the same edition. I mean, in this day and age I guess I can understand it cos they know people will buy all the available versions online but, in general, it's not something I understand.
I think I'm gonna be in Tokyo (and Brisbane) for quite a while yet. I am just completely absorbed. It's taken me about 2 days, I think, and I've only just got to about 50 mins with Tokyo. He's changed out of the sexy black outfit and is now wearing a weird outfit, kind of like a glittery track suit but I'm still mesmerised.
Yep, it's Michael therapy all right. The best kind of therapy.

Totally understand how you are both feeling! While I am super super excited and obsessed with this new release lol I do feel a little disconnected as a newer fan because I still have so much discography to explore. I'm not thirsting for new songs the way other fans are. (side note: I also have no idea what the high tech vinyl shit means, but that doesn't mean I didn't immediately pre-order the very expensive limited edition one, because I have no limits with Michael lol)...
@zinniabooklover I completely understand feeling idsconnected from Dangerous and HWT right now if you're deep diving into the Bad World Tour. I was initially obsessed with Dangerous era when I first got into Michael and then once I discovered Bad era (as in, spent some time with it) I became beyond obsessed and I've never recovered. What you describe with needing breaks from watching because his energy is so much (I don't remember where you wrote that, but I swear you did lol) I completely understand. I am obsessed with his energy on that tour. I am so madly in love with it that it's like I legitimately cannot survive watching it because my heart races so hard and I get so excited and just scream and explode. It's also emotional and just so riveting. Again, the whole sensory overload thing. I feel that with all of Michael's tours, but it's on another level with Bad era. To the point that if Michael had retired after Bad and never toured or made music ever again and drifted into oblivion, I would still think he deserves the same amount of accolades and respect he has now. It is that good.
@Hiker In your context, I'm curious what you mean by Michael therapy? I want to hear about HIStory Tunisia...how is it different?

Michael therapy for me is trying to lift my mood by watching concerts or listening to Michael. It works most of the time. I have been moping around for couple of days, even Michael therapy was not that effective. But the whole Thriller hoopla and finding new Tunisia footage helped. I have to watch Tunisia again to pin point what, but there are lot of small moments where I am like - oh interesting! He did not do that in Munich or other HIStory I have watched. One that stood out was J5 Medley ending is different. I don't want to spoil it for you in case you are planning to watch, it's kinda emotional. Other good thing is the footage does not cut to audience, so we get to see lot more of Michael. The audio is remastered BTW, that creates some effect too. Don't ask me what remastered means, but I can tell it's different from say Munich original.

Oh no, let me clarify!! I did not mean I'd be ok with not having the rest of his career. I didn't mean that at all!! What I meant was that he was so good during the Bad tour that it alone was enough to make him worthy of the legacy he has now. Even if his adult solo career had been much shorter, he would still deserve everything and legend status because of how good that era was. But I absolutely do not mean that as a knock against those eras! I love those eras and would never, ever want us to not have everything that came after Bad! I just mean he more than proved himself with Bad. Does that make sense?
I definitely do not mean those eras were any less amazing!
And I totally understand what you mean now. I am sorry things have been hard the past few days and I"m sorry that MIchael hasn't fully been able to pull you out of it (though I understand...). I am glad you are finding some joy in the Thriller excitement and the Tunisia show. Thanks for explaining the differences! I will definitely watch it someday, as I plan to watch every show from every tour eventually. You don't have to worry about spoilers though
