New material on the way??

Branca has said multiple times this year there is no new unreleased songs coming in the near future.
 
I don't know how many times it has to be stated that Branca said there will be no new releases any time soon. For the millionth time.
 
I think after everyone got excited it was stated that it was an old tweet. I am just going to say though that asking the question isn't a sin and sometimes people ask questions on here and some people answer with arsey replies. There is just no need.
 
Apparently there is no music available with enough quality or finalisation to make a whole album. They literally have no plans to release new music anytime soon. Brands said they would possibly release HWT on DVD as that was the only concert with enough multi angle shots (I doubt that) and they will make Ghosts 3D next year.

But NO NEW MUSIC!
 
So that is it then? We have heard everything there is left to hear? There was a rumour back in July 2009 that there was enough material for 9 albums? I guess this wasn't true. It is so sad to think we have come to the end of the line. I don't care about multi angle shots. I just want to see all tours in better quality than we currently have available. I want what there is. I just miss him so much :(
 
Of course there is more music available for more albums.

We aren't at the end of the line. There's a lot more still to be heard.

The recent comment that there "isn't much material left to a certain standard" is too vague to interpret fully. My takeaway from it is that the Estate is running out of finished songs (i.e., tracks that are completed vocally and musically), which is completely plausible given Michael's work ethic. Practically every song on Michael and Xscape were demos in their final Michael-approved mixes, barring "Xscape" and perhaps "Blue Gangsta".

But to suggest that the well is running dry is simply absurd. There are several dozen songs that are vocally complete/near-complete that could be released commercially. My last count comes to 27 titles that are unleaked and confirmed to be at least 80% finished, as well as 11 others that have leaked over the years but are in a releasable state. That isn't even taking into consideration the vast number of titles (well over 100) that we know little to nothing about, as well as the songs we've yet to learn exist.

There is plenty left, no doubt about that.

Granted, he could have been exaggerating just a bit, and maybe a lot of the songs weren't finished, but I truly think there is more. Unless, perhaps, they've become lost, missing, stolen over the years.
 
I think there are more, but maybe not so much in the vault. I'm not as knowledgable as to whats in there and whats not, but I also think people who worked closely with him may have material the estate and sony don't have or as mentioned above, aren't complete. Or, who knows, they don't have the vision as to where to take the material they do have. I don't mind a re-mix or two, but I hope they don't start relying heavily on them.

The unreleased songs that have been leaked, that we've all been listening to for years could be offically released. Heck, I'd even like to hear more of his raw demo's. I'm there are moments of pure gold on some of those.
 
I'm sure songs such as Crack Kills, Chicago 1945, Buffalo Bill, Men In Black, Innocent Man, Don't Be Messin Round, I Have This Dream, Can't Get My Weight Off You are complete or close to competition so they are good enough to be released on an album.

I agree I think there is much more and also plausibility to the * stolen over the years * suggestion. since (giving an example) sonny had a whole computer of tracks stolen , it can happen to an artist unfortunately and it might have happened to m too somewhere along the line. especially, if the new method of documenting things were kept on file/ computers.
Although, i can see m with a locked vault and the key suddenly went *missing * and no one knows where it is tho :lol:

Of course more new MJ music will come... eventually...

Not next year, but maybe 2019 - the 10th anniversary to his death...

2018 - Thriller 3d will have a public release - theaters and maybe Blu-Ray. - AND it seems like Ghost will also be made into 3D and great quality like Thriller. - So maybe a Blu-Ray box-set release in 2018 with Thriller and Ghosts in 3D - and the Halloween Special will maybe also be released on Netflix and DVD/Blu-Ray. - And maybe HIStory concert released on Blu-Ray.

Then 2019 - the 10 anniversary of MJ's dead. - I guess maybe This Is It 2 - more footage, the songs we haven't seen, more rehearsing footage. And a New album.
- I think they will mark his 10 years passing in some way.
 
I'm really excited for Thriller and Ghosts in 4K, nice move from The Estate
 
I hope they scan all the other short films too in 4K now that they are restoring them.

God knows how many other titles could be thrown in here; keep in mind that there are around 250 unreleased titles tied to Michael Jackson's name altogether, most of which we have no idea about. We learn about new songs all the time, so this list is clearly incomplete. But this is what I can name off my initial search.
 
That why i know there are more golden nuggets in that vault that we have not heard of and the leak songs might as well release them put them in album.

Guys i do not know what is happening i am into the demos tonight P.Y.T. i want them.(y)

This week MJWN were given the opportunity to see a couple of new projects that the Michael Jackson Estate have been working on. In addition to this, we also had the chance to chat with John Branca, the co-executor of Michael’s Estate, Karen Langford and others that have been involved in these latest projects.

‘Blood On The Dance Floor’ 2017
Our first sneak preview took place in a small screening room at the new Sony Music building. We were shown ‘Blood on the Dance Floor 2017’ – A new version of the original music video. The video footage included some of what we’ve already seen in the 1997 release but also included new dancing featuring the fantastic talents of the Cirque Du Soleil cast. It’s a great modern interpretation of this Michael classic which was initially due to be released earlier last week. However, in light of the awful incident in Las Vegas, it was decided to postpone the release out of respect.

‘Thriller 3D’
Next we were shown something that we all have been very excited to see ever since it was announced – ‘Thriller 3D.’ Whilst it was great to see Michael’s classic masterpiece brought even more to life using modern technology and on a big screen, the real treat came with the fact that it has been brilliantly remastered. It makes you feel like you’re watching the short film for the very first time! I couldn’t quite believe that after all of these years and seeing it, and obviously there’s been a lot, I actually started to squirm during the werewolf transformation scene. I was also able to really watch the dancers and see tiny details that I had never seen before. This is going to be such a treat for all Michael’s fans and the public alike.

The plan is to release ‘Thriller 3D’ at IMAX’s around the world as a special preview when you go and watch a big Halloween themed movie. Unfortunately, as there haven’t been any suitable movie releases planned for this Halloween, the Estate have decided to hold the release back until next Halloween.
After these screenings we headed upstairs to the roof of the building, for a cocktail party which was hosted by the Estate. This is where we got the chance to ask questions and were told about forthcoming projects.

‘Ghosts’
More news that will delight every fan is that the Estate are hoping to remaster and release ‘Ghosts’ in 3D next year too. This is a project that hasn’t been started yet, therefore they would rather not commit to saying exactly what it will be like or when it will be released. However, it is great to hear that they are planning great things for this 1996 Michael masterpiece and shows the Estate are listening to what the fans want – Whilst at the same time trying to introduce Michael to a new audience.

Unreleased Songs
On the topic of unreleased material, Mr. Branca explained that he doesn’t believe there’s enough high quality recorded music for a whole album. We all know that Michael recorded a lot over his lifetime, but music that’s been completed and reaches the same quality as previous releases, are few and far between. Even the music Michael recorded with will.i.am didn’t include vocals. However, a recording of Sly and the Family Stone’s song ‘Hot Fun In The Summertime’ (which Michael bought the rights to) does exist. Mr. Branca explained that Michael has recorded multiple harmonies for the chorus of this song, but unfortunately not any of the verses. So, they may look into getting a popular singer to make this a duet at some point in the future.

The Estate are also keen to give us, the fans, what we want. New music for example. However, they are very conscious that it’s hard to please everyone and appreciate that some fans find it difficult to accept new music. They do receive a lot of feedback from the fan community and Mr. Branca said they respect the passion and love the fans have for helping set Michael’s legacy. He spoke of expanding Michael’s fan base with releases like ‘Scream’ that are aimed at attracting a new audience; an audience who may not be too familiar with Michael Jackson and get them excited about his work.

Tours
Mr. Branca told us that Michael’s ‘HIStory’ tour (1996-1997) was really the only tour filmed that is suitable for high definition, surround sound, multi camera angles etc… He foresees that the tour could possibly be released when they come to commemorate that album or during an anniversary. He did add that ‘HIStory’ is his favorite album but doubts it would ever be a theatrical release, meaning it would probably go straight to DVD/Netflix.
Neverland

Regarding Michael’s former home Neverland Valley Ranch – The Estate would have loved the opportunity to open Neverland to the public, but reiterated what we’ve been told before. Zoning laws in California would not allow the amount of traffic along the single long road that leads up to the gates of the ranch. Mr. Branca spoke about his hope that they could have at least done something on a much smaller scale, whereby they furnished Neverland with its original belongings and allowed the property to be hired for special private events. However, at the end of the day the rights of the ranch do not fall into their hands and the private investors wish to sell. In spite of this Mr. Branca said that they are looking into the possibility of opening up Hayvenhurst, where Michael spent many years living and recorded the demos for ‘Billie Jean’ and others for the ‘Thriller’ album.

Final Thoughts
I’d like to take a moment to reflect on how I think the Estate are doing and my ‘takeaway’ of their objectives. Personally, I think since June 25th, 2009 they’ve done an exceptional job. What they strive to do is continue Michael’s legacy, constantly introduce him to new audiences and appease his fan base. Those three goals make a hard juggling act. Some fans have been disappointed with previously unheard music being released and others have been disappointed with compilations. However, this just goes to show that you can’t please everyone, yet they are trying their best to appeal to the existing fans whilst introducing him to a new generation. Their real successes have been in projects such as Cirque Du Soleil and the Spike Lee documentaries – A happy middle ground for old and new fans alike – Re-imagining Michaels work and giving us an insight into his life and career. I believe the forthcoming animation special ‘Michael Jackson’s Halloween’ will also fall into this category.
With the release of ‘Scream,’ there comes a new chapter for the Estate. This is the most strategic release they’ve done, as they try and pair the season of Halloween with Michael Jackson. Each Halloween ‘Thriller’ has continued to hit the charts. Using that as a starting point, they want Michael to be connected to Halloween for a long time to come. Their hope is that the ‘Scream’ album will re-immerge every year, that the new animation ‘Michael Jackson’s Halloween’ will be on TV every October and more seasonal releases will come out year after year, starting with ‘Thriller 3D’ and the potential for ‘Ghosts.’ It’s a very clever idea, getting the public to start associating Halloween with Michael Jackson and creating longevity for decades to come. It also couples with Michael’s love for Halloween and all things scary. ‘Thriller,’ ‘Ghosts,’ ‘Is It Scary,’ ‘Threatened’ etc… This was obviously a subject Michael had a love affair with that the Estate are now continuing.

Well, a public release of Thriller 3D is postponed till Halloween next year. Plans are that they will also remaster GHOSTS next year. So this year it’s the animated special and the compilation album only.

In a way I am OK with that - because that means MJ will also be everywhere next halloween. - And then in 2019 - the 10th anniversary of his dead - it can be shown on TV. - Imagine Halloween and a TV station shows - first Thriller in amazing quality (not 3D in normal TV), then Ghosts in amazing quality (not 3D) - and then the MJ Halloween Special...

I am starting to think the Estate is onto something here. - Could be great if MJ dominates Halloween year after year.

They should make a video for Threatened - it could fit into the horror/scary theme...
 
Not enough high quality tracks for an album? oh well, there's allways the EP route.
What I don't want to see is 5 more greatest hits each containing 1 unreleased track.

But it`s delated. So I think it will happen with this posts also. It is kind of sad that interesting articles can not be posted in this forum because they come from other fan-sites. I think this is not a healthy thinking
