Taj Jackson's MJ Documentary - Updates and Discussion [MERGED]

Nah he's crowdfunded it so solid updates are definitely needed lol.
That the project is being released in 2023 is a very solid update to me, Putting some interview clip or anything else dont matter to me, I have zero interest in it. If you think Charles Thomson has been playing along in a fraud against fans for a couple of years claiming to work on for Taj on the project then you should perhaps think again! The information about the project is out there. I dont find any info btw where Taj has obliged to posting a certain amount of updates, just that he needs to do his project which is what matters!

Also there are updates on the gofundmepage til a year ago when I suppose the project really kicked off and was secured financially.

Nobody has said anything about fraud so not really sure where that's coming from, kind of missing the point, I think.

Why would you need "solid updates" if you are confident in the project? There was updates on the gofundme page up til a year ago and plenty of updates on livestreams and the MJ-cast on a regular basis since then. T-Mez gave Taj & Charles a whole day to interview him. They went through all MJs notes and stuff he left after his death, they sat through days of video footage of MJs photographers etc.

Not sure what you qualify as solid updates for you though....video evidence of them doing what they have been describing to be doing the last few years as if you doubt they are being truthful?

Why would I be confident in this project? Most stuff Taj has said about it, and the massive change of direction to make it something people didn't even donate for, has just made me less and less so, and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

What is "solid updates" for you and what would those "solid updates"give you that all the things I already mentioned have not?

Thought this would fit the thread as well as there might be good reason why Taj has not given more than he has on the project:

On the christmas MJcast episode its confirmed Thomson is helping the project with that. Thomson wrote a script for a TV-series or documentary about the 2005 trial for some other media company already years ago, which was then cancelled by covid.

Thomson is doing the research for the parts about the child molestation and trial matters. Something he has covered for 30 years, so there is probably nobody on the earth with more knowledge about the issue. I am not sure why you have a problem with an investigative multiple award winning journalist providing facts for a fact based documentary? If you have a fan with kind of expertise and experience in the field, I do not have any problems using him, it will ensure the quality of the project!

Clearly nobody neutral is interested in doing a fair Jackson documentary, nor do half the research Thomson has ever done. Facts are facts regardless who presents them!

For the people critical of the Taj producing this? Would you rather have nothing done at all? Thats the alternative. This is a pro piece Michael Jackson series. Leaving Neverland was an anti-MJ film. If you watch both, it balances each other out, thats the way I see it!
Charles Thomson is now telling people he's covered this for 30 years? Surely not.

He was a hater on MJ forums not too long ago and I'm pretty sure for one point he was The Sun's Jackson 'expert'.

CT also has tweeted about MJs 'clear' fake nose and how it was embarrassing for Jackson as a 'man child' to sing ballads on Invincible.

I understand he might know about the allegations but I'm still very wary of him.

Anything I've donated towards a crowdfunding/GoFundMe thing have provided regular updates about progress, at least bi-monthly.

He changed the format/type of documentary after a substantial amount of money was donated. I would not have donated to a project that he is currently aiming for.

It's too late. The horse has bolted. At this point, given the way Taj has taken to blocking people I am convinced this will do more damage than good.

A person that thinks Michael Jackson is a pedophile does not care about his rise to stardom.

So it's been over four years since the announcement of this series. Honestly, I would like a refund. I did not expect to be waiting four years. Anyone know of the policies regarding this?

So people can donate literally hundreds of dollars and if the project never sees the light of day they'll never get the money back?
There’s always a risk involved when it comes to these sort of things, yes. Having said that, I have never lost my faith in Taj. Some projects, by their nature, just has to be given the time to fully ripe.

You'd have to check if it's GoFundMe or Kickstarter. Then it just depends. In certain cases the right for your refund belongs to Taj, and he's certainly not gonna admit the project is not happening.

Is there really allready 250000 dollars donated for Taj to realize the docu?

I agree with this opinion.

OPINION

Are Michael Jackson fans allowed to question Taj on his documentary?

ByAdmin Team
March 5, 2023

In the last few days, the Michael Jackson Fan community found itself embroiled in another drama relating to a series of disagreements between fan opinions and Taj Jackson.
Taj Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew and member of 90s boyband, 3T started a GoFundMe in January 2019 to produce a docuseries about his uncle, the King of Pop, as a response to the fake TV program “Leaving Neverland” released that same year.
Four years later, the GoFundMe has reached $252,280 (so far) thanks to donations by Michael Jackson fans, yet to date the docuseries hasn’t been released or, to knowledge, completed.
Despite giving updates, making TV appearances and speaking on multiple podcasts, Taj hasn’t provided a concrete date for the promised documentary in defence of his super star uncle. And some fans have started to question this, either directly to Taj or within the fan community.
While I completely understand that Taj Jackson has been extremely active on the media circuit talking about his plan for the documentary now named “Re-Righting HIStory” alongside defending his uncle, he also explained that it needs to be perfect and true to the facts which will take time. With COVID hitting the world for a few years as well as the birth of his latest child, Taj has been explaining the delays, though we’ve yet to see much of what’s been done so far. When if you compare it to another outstanding project ‘Trial By Media – The Michael Jackson Story’, Jin Chohan, the creator has been constantly updating on the progress including behind-the-scenes shots of many interviews he’s been conducting since the pandemic.
So, some fans have started to question why the docuseries hasn’t been done yet, 4 years on while they see other movies and documentaries, with less budget, being completed and released, both about Michael Jackson and otherwise.
But recently, some fans have revealed that Taj Jackson has been blocking people/fans that questioned him on the documentary’s real-time progress and when the $250,000 documentary series will appear.
If you donated like me for the production of this documentary, the question is genuine and there is also the concern that 4 years after “Leaving Neverland”, this will no longer be of as much interest to the public, than in the height of the furore when people were looking for a rebuttal.
He also put forward fans’ comments on his social media, highlighting them to his huge followers and fan base. And by doing so, those individuals receive a huge amount of abuse, threats and insults from those supporting Taj Jackson.
So the question here is “Are we allowed to question Taj Jackson regarding the whereabouts of this publicly funded documentary?”
As I donated for this, I feel really involved in seeing the documentary coming to life and I hugely appreciate the effort that Taj has made to defend his uncle, our idol, Michael Jackson. I will never take that away from him, especially when other members of the Jackson family haven’t been as vocal or as visible on the subject.
However, seeing other documentaries that have been released during or just after COVID, we can feel that we’d like to see a little more action – Who are the film crew that has been hired? Who has been hired to handle post-production, and who has been hired to design the look and feel of the finished film? Who has been hired to handle business development – selling and managing the rights of the film? Who has been hired to handle research? Who will feature in interviews that were around Michael Jackson at key moments and situations in his life? What style will the filming be in?
Yes, there was a pandemic, but most businesses still handled office administration, hiring, planning and things that didn’t require face-to-face activities, both in the world of film and otherwise. Added further, this series already has $250,000 in funding which means legitimate work can begin without the concerns over cash-flow.
So far, we’ve had some generic updates and we’ve seen some rehashed graphics from Michael’s previous work and the use of the old 90s font from the HIStory era. Surely, this needs to be fresh, new and appealing to the general public. Michael was all about ‘what’s next’, not what’s been done.
Is Taj Jackson right to block people who question him fairly, on the documentary? Absolutely not! As a public figure, his donating public has the right to know that what they paid for will be delivered. This is as simple as that. Yes, some fans took it too far and devalued his past work with 3T or calling him a thief. But nevertheless, when we talk about a quarter of a million dollars and proving the innocence of Michael Jackson, it seems unfair to block the fans that financed his project.
And as somebody who has asked the fans to finance this, he needs to ensure he is satisfying the curiosity and questions of all those who donate and not just those who are happy to go along with what’s said and attack anybody who challenges it further.
Just like John Branca, who is blocking people/fans questioning his leadership of the Estate and asking where the Thriller 40 documentary is, Taj is joining the trend.
And this is what is the saddest part of this story. We can disagree on many points of view, opinions and people; it’s part of life and humanity. But aggravating a situation through highlighting legitimate questions, knowing that the response is not going to be kind, is not acceptable. No matter how good your intentions are. We have all differing opinions on the matter but we all have to work hard to be respectful, not only to Taj Jackson but also to our fellow fans.
At MJVibe, we have supported Taj Jackson’s project and efforts since the beginning. We have posted all the updates on the documentary for fans to continue to donate and support the making of the documentary and we will not stop as we believe the project is essential to give the general public a true representation of Michael. Our devotion is to Michael first and then to his fans.
I wrote this piece with no intention of disrespecting Taj Jackson at all but I found the whole situation disturbing. Speaking solely on the Michael Jackson fan community, it’s been to hell and back so many times over the last few decades and we do not need petty drama when we should concentrate our efforts on activities that are going to defend and celebrate our idol, Michael Jackson.

My biggest problem with this film, and all other films, is that none of them get the Rizz of Leaving Neverland. Where's the splashy Sundance/Film Festival push for Taj? Until one of these Pro-MJ docs gets that publicity, there'll never be a point to me. It's as relevant as Miss Castaway.
This. I feel like a documentary/series are a bit played out anyway, media-wise. There has to be a different way of explaining Michael Jackson and the allegations to the general public, any suggestions here?

Maybe some sort of big infographic that would go viral or a worldwide press conference or something.. OR a major Hollywood motion picture about the allegations/extortion attempt; a thriller (no pun intended) based on true events

Is this documentary still a thing? It’s been an eternity since it was announced. Evidently, some film productions are in development for many many years, but this is an indie documentary we are talking about.
I can understand Covid affecting this and all that, but are there any new updates as to when it will be released?

I honestly don't get the point for this Taj Jackson documentary. Even if he gets out of his cave filled with BTS memorabilia and actually finishes the doc, it would be pointless. I was thinking about this the other day and a MJ doc filled with never before seen footage that shows a different side of MJ might sound good for now and in the moment but once you sit down and start to think about how that release might look like & it's like huh. I might word this wrong but if people see the name "Taj Jackson", they will say "Oh it's made by MJ's nephew?", think of how he acts on social media & how he heavy defends his uncle on Twitter in a very crazy over the top way (There's nothing wrong with defending but you have to think about how other people might view, I'm speaking from the perspective of a person looking in and seeing Taj) and shut down this doc. They will think it's a joke and won't watch it. Plus as said before, it doesn't have the clout and rizz of LN. And also, the possible JD and MJ comparisons in the documentary, it will turn people off. Hey, you feel how you feel about the whole Johnny Depp and Amber situation and you have your own opinions but you have to realize that Michael Jackson and Johnny are two different people. Keep that JD over there and leave him out of this MJ doc. If you are trying to convince and show the audience that your subject is innocent, it is not best to show another person where he's a tough heavy controversial subject and adding MJ to his problems is bringing down MJ with him, in the mud. What is best for Taj to do is hand over that footage to an unbiased filmmaker even more than Danny, Jin and all those other filmmaker who made docs to counter LN. As much as Square One, Lies of Ln, and Truth by Media are truthful, the public doesn't take these docs seriously. No amount of spamming links to the doc in replies to guilters or the posts about these docs will change other people's opinions and make them hear the truth. The doc needs to show the two sides no matter how much the other side is lying. If the audience sees mostly Jackson associates and MJ's witnesses even though they are telling the truth, they are probably not going to finish the doc with the thought "Oh they got bribed or paid just to lie for Michael Jackson, etc, etc..." Unfortunately, you are going to have to show those people on the other side whether if it's archive footage or actual interviews taken for the doc. And then after you do, you hit them with the facts and the stuff shown in the FBI files or actual footage of Michael doing the opposite of what guilters and accusers say of him. To top it off, you need that "smoking gun" for the accusers. Of course, due to the nature of the NDAs, what exactly those conditions are & privacy of those accusers, Chandler and Arviso will most likely won't speak up or say "they were lying" because that would defeat the purpose of the settlement and contracts. That's why you go with plan B, any footage or audio you could use to counter those lies. Last, you need someone that has actual connections to the big 3 streaming services and video sites. I'm sorry but Youtube & Prime Video won't cut it. You need the doc to premiere at the big festival too for more exposure and get them to buy that rights and stream it. You need HBO's rival in the industry, some company big to compete with HBO.

I agree with you. A documentary should always show both sides. It's why Leaving Neverland was never a documentary. You have to SHOW people how crazy the accusations are.

It's crazy how they were able to get away with the narrative due to the movement at the time, the promotion everywhere & having a big streaming company backing them up. It's sad cause the legacy is damaged in a way, the doc changed it. Don't get me wrong, his legacy was tainted already but post-death all the way until 2019, people sort of, came to their senses and showed love. When MJ died, people shifted their focus from the controversial figure back to the music and his showmanship. LN threw all of that out the window. No matter what people say about "how his legacy isn't affected and people are still celebrating him", LN ruined it. Sure, he still has the streaming numbers, YT views and a lot of famous people are backing him up & acknowledging MJ but it doesn't mean that his legacy wasn't ruined. People still have mixed feelings about the whole thing and some people are scared, still waiting for that moment to post him especially brands but would that " 2009 bounce-back" happen again? Who knows. If they really want to hit back at them hard, they are going to have to use some tactics that they used to blow that doc up. Just needs the right name, the right title and how you go about addressing the whole allegations.

And no one's stopping him? He could do it and put it out there but who's really going to check into it? Other than the typical audience.
Idk what's stopping him, but he never said when it'd be ready or that it's coming ASAP, near as I can tell. He says people will talk against it, might as well wait for a Pro-Michael time.

I agree that it does need significantly more push, as much as LN did, and that is something I can imagine he feels the same way about. Until that time, well, it's kinda hard to do. He's the King of Pop, yet all these docs end up on Tubi. That's just not the way.

Sounds bad but nobody is interested in Taj.

If it was Janet and she came out and said that she was making a documentary on the allegations there would have been a bit of coverage at least.

Unfortunately it's just another of the lesser Jacksons project that will never see the light of day.
