Jay-Z On Who's In Line To Fill Michael Jackson's Shoes & Beyonce's 'Magnificent' Performance

jayz2003.jpg

Jay-Z has an idea of who may be the next Michael Jackson, and he told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush about it backstage at Sunday night's Grammys.

When asked what was his favorite moment of the night, Jay-Z hinted it could be one of the performers that took part in the tribute to the late King of Pop.

"I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was fantastic and I thought Usher was doing a magnificent job," Jay-Z told Billy. "I think he's… He's one of the guys that's in line to, you know, fill those huge shoes."

But while he thinks Usher has the talent, Jay-Z told Billy he didn't want to put any undue stress on his pal.

"I don't wanna put that pressure on him, but I think he's one of the guy's that's in line to do that," Jay-Z added.

When asked about his own wife's stunning performance at the Grammys – a performance that saw Beyonce singing a little Alanis Morisette ("You Oughta Know") and her own song ("If I Were A Boy"), Jay-Z said she is so impressive all the time, a person could get used to it.

"Oh fantastic, but she… It's almost to a point where you just, you know, you're almost numb to it because she's so magnificent every single time out," he said.

"They had a nice shot of you right after she performed and you were just proud," Billy said.

"I'm a fan, you know, I'm a fan. I'm here as a fan as well," Jay-Z added.

Usher???...he is ok but, I think we should all accept by now that no one can or would ever be fill michael's shoe.

Why don't people get that "Michael Jackson" is a person? There won't be another "Michael Jackson." Usher is 51 years and about 6 months late for that. Also his mother and father would have to be Katherine and Joe Jackson.

Gene Simmons In Bonkers Jackson Rant

It seems that the lead in Gene Simmons' make-up has gone to his brain.

In a bizarre rant during a Classic Rock interview, Simmons accused Michael Jackson of child molestation, citing various completely fictitious pieces of evidence.

The aging glam-rock star claimed that he knew a musician who quit a Michael Jackson tour because of 'what he saw'. As a paid Jackson expert, I am unaware of any musician ever quitting a Michael Jackson tour mid-way through. In fact, Jackson used the same musicians every time he toured, with minor alterations here and there.

No audio tape of Jackson ordering alcohol for children was ever brought forward and the star was acquitted on multiple accounts of serving alcohol to a minor.

Simmons' most outrageous claim was that during Jackson's trial a travel agent testified that the star had authorised them to fly to Brazil and fetch young boys for him. This allegation is purely a figment of Gene Simmons' imagination. No such testimony ever occurred during Jackson's trial.

Growing up, I was always taught that if you don't know what you're talking about, you shouldn't say anything. Evidently Gene's parents didn't instill in him the same belief. That, or he's just going senile.

It is completely irresponsible to pass comment on a criminal investigation that you know nothing about and even more irresponsible to make a criminal accusation and then support it with non-existent evidence. Simmons has heard fragments of reported speech from Jackson's trial and then assigned them entirely new meaning as the years have passed, building up an arsenal of evidence against Jackson which never really existed.

The blame doesn't lie solely at Simmons' door, however. Classic Rock should do their research before regurgitating such nonsense. Yes, it is reported speech, but it is still irresponsible for any publication to perpetuate baseless myths which indicate that an innocent man is a paedophile.

Thanks to Google News, this story has now gone global. All over the world people are reading it and many will believe Simmons' comments, partiallybecause he's in the music business and there is an element of presumed insider info, but mostly because the initial reporting on Jackson's trial was so inept.

Michael Jackson's former doctor, Conrad Murray surrendering soon; Murray and his lawyers receive death threats

It has been almost eight months since Michael Jackson's death. Reports indicate that his former doctor, Conrad Murray is set to surrender soon and that he has been receiving death threats, as well as his lawyers.

Murray's rep Miranda Sevcik tells Radar Online of these threats: "People come out of woodwork. We’re talking about Michael Jackson fans, come on, they are very upset." She adds: "He (Murray) travels and we have been careful. He has not let it affect his life. But, when you have this much attention on this event (the arraignment), then people know where he is gong to be so we have to be very careful." She continued: "The threats against Dr. Murray we take very seriously."

Oh my lord. That woman, she lucky no one tried anything yet. They are lucky that they are just threats. wtf do they expect? Do they want us to be givin' Murray flowers or somethin with a card sayin' "get well soon"?

Charges to be filed on Monday; News Conference scheduled

LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — Charges will be filed against Dr. Conrad Murray, the personal physician of Michael Jackson, on Monday, prosecutors said on Friday. “A case will be filed on Monday,” said Sandi Gibbons of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. “Information on charges and the scheduled arraignment at the Airport Court will be released after the case is filed.”

Meanwhile, the defense team for Murray has scheduled a news conference at 1.30 p.m. PST. Attorney Ed Chernoff will deliver remarks at Pollywog Park before leaving for Los Angeles International Airport for a return flight to Houston.

It is not yet clear when Murray will be arrested, but it is unlikely to take place before Monday. Chernoff earlier said that Murray agreed to surrender himself to authorities on Friday.

Jackson, who was 50, died at his Los Angeles home on June 25. The Los Angeles County Coroner ruled his death a homicide, mainly caused by the powerful anaesthetic Propofol.

U.S. media earlier reported that Murray is expected to be charged with involuntary manslaughter, which could send him to jail for a maximum of four years if convicted. A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney said she could neither confirm nor deny the claims.

Gene Simmons is an example of what the elders use to say; "you do not know a fool until he/she opens his/her mouth and remove all doubt". People are up in his tail on this one on the board I saw today. He has made himself look like an @$$. No wonder no one is talking about this mess. he is making up lies. Gene, leave the drugs alone nut.

Gene in the past has made untrue and erronous stuff about EVERYBODY... All his "stories" are mostly false r never happen.

Michael Jackson's doctor will be charged in connection with the pop star's death next week, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has confirmed.
A statement said unspecified charges would be filed on Monday followed by an arraignment.
A law enforcement source speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed Conrad Murray would be charged with involuntary manslaughter.
The announcement followed days of speculation about the possibility of criminal charges being filed against Murray, the Houston-based physician who was with Jackson shortly before the pop icon died suddenly in June.
Murray had initially been expected to surrender to custody on Friday ahead of a court hearing but charges were delayed amid reports of a disagreement between prosecutors and the Los Angeles Police Department.

Local prosecutors had been negotiating with defence lawyers for Murray to surrender into custody voluntarily in the early hours of Friday, before appearing in court without handcuffs of shackles.
Police were reportedly opposed to the plan, seeking to have Murray arrested, booked and handcuffed in plain view.
Murray's legal team - which has repeatedly stressed the doctor was ready and willing to turn himself in - cancelled a press conference planned on Friday after the charges were announced.
"In light of the District Attorney's office announcement that Dr Murray will be charged on Monday, we have cancelled media access until after arraignment," Murray's defence team said in a statement.
Reports of Murray's looming manslaughter case followed a painstaking and prolonged police investigation.
Under California law, involuntary manslaughter - unintentionally causing death through negligence, carelessness or a misdemeanour - is punishable by up to four years in prison.
Murray, 56, has acknowledged that he administered the powerful anesthetic propofol to Jackson only after trying many other medications to help him sleep following the singer's "repeated demands/requests" for the drug.
Propofol is a powerful anesthetic used to render patients unconscious before major surgery. Medical experts say it should only be used and administered by trained staff under hospital conditions.
Unsealed court documents that included a review of toxicology results found that Jackson died from "lethal levels of propofol".

he will only get four years if found guilty !!??????? wtf...!!!!

News » International AP
The circus that swirled around Michael Jackson when he was alive rolled on Friday as the doctor expecting to be accused of involuntary manslaughter in his death planned to stage a surrender at a courthouse but called it off after prosecutors announced charges will be filed next week.

Instead of the promised appearance by Dr. Conrad Murray and his lawyers, a crowd of reporters and photographers gathered outside a branch courthouse only got a drenching from a rainstorm.

Murray, working as Jackson’s personal physician during the singer’s preparation for comeback concerts, has been under investigation since the 50-year-old pop star died June 25 after being administered the hospital-strength anesthetic propofol and sedatives at his rented mansion to help him sleep.

It’s not clear what would have happened had the cardiologist shown up without a case being filed.

District attorney’s spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said the events had no bearing on when the case would be filed. She released a terse statement saying prosecutors will be filing a case involving Jackson’s death on Monday, but it did not name Murray or specify the charges.

“The main thing is there’s some paperwork that needs to be done. We’re doing it and (the case) will be filed on Monday,” Mr. Gibbons said.

The doctor’s legal team has said Murray will be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

“We’ll make bail, we’ll plead not guilty and we’ll fight like hell,” said lead defence attorney Ed Chernoff.

The strange chain of events - which at one point saw reporters scramble from the courthouse to nearby recreational grounds called Polliwog Park for a news conference that never happened - fueled intense speculation about what was going on behind the scenes.

The developments occurred against a background of reports that police wanted to arrest and handcuff Murray, but that his attorneys were negotiating with the prosecution to avoid that.

Mr. Chernoff said he spoke with prosecutors Thursday about how Murray should be taken to court on Friday. Discussions broke down after the district attorney’s office insisted Murray turn himself in at a police station, but not post bail and agree to be taken to court by police while in handcuffs.

A defence spokeswoman also earlier had said the prosecution had told Murray and his lawyers to be at court Friday afternoon.

Mr. Gibbons said that was “an absolute lie.” “We made no deal with them,” Mr. Gibbons said.

Mr. Gibbons also said the district attorney’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department were not at odds.

A law enforcement official close to the case has told The Associated Press that police wanted to arrest Murray at a home where he was staying and take him to a police station for booking. Top brass at the Los Angeles Police Department were unhappy with a surrender because it could appear Murray was being given special treatment, according to the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity.

Various factors weighed in the desire of the LAPD to arrest Murray, including the possibility he might flee before arraignment, the law enforcement official said.

Jackson fans flooded phone lines at the district attorney’s office and at the LAPD’s robbery-homicide unit demanding that Murray be brought to court in handcuffs.

“When Michael Jackson was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit, he was handcuffed and publicly humiliated,” said Samantha DeGossen, a fan who organized the protest via Internet sites. “We’re outraged that Dr. Murray is not being subjected to the same treatment.”

Jackson was tried and acquitted on child molestation charges in Santa Maria, California, in 2005. He flew to Santa Maria on a private plane and surrendered to law enforcement authorities who handcuffed him and drove him to a jail to be fingerprinted and photographed.

Ms. DeGossen said a group of fans plans to be on hand Monday to protest outside the courthouse if Murray is allowed to surrender on his own.

“All we want is justice for Michael Jackson,” she said.

Murray became the focus of the probe into Jackson’s death shortly after an emergency call from Jackson’s home last summer reported that the singer wasn’t breathing despite efforts by the doctor to perform CPR. Murray told police he gave Jackson a powerful anaesthetic and other sedatives that an autopsy blamed for his death.

The doctor maintains nothing he gave Jackson should have killed him.

New York-based attorney William Moran, who has represented high-profile clients, said it is not unusual for there to be friction between police and prosecutors in cases in the media limelight. Any attorney would push back against the prospect of a client being photographed in police custody.

“If you are either a patient of the doctor or considering becoming a patient of the doctor, it’s hard to get past the image of your doctor in handcuffs,” Moran said, adding that such an image could impact potential jurors.

Well, should'nt MJ be winning more awards this year at this show as he has been the biggest selling artist worldwide of last year? so he might just eclipse Mariah's record.

As for this charade that is being played out in Los Angeles with Dr. Murray.....they are affixing the word circus to this thing because thats what they want it to be, hell its not even important that someone has died, just make it a media circus and everybody will be happy!

What an awesome article on Gene Simmon's stupidity.

MJ's statue from India could grace Neverland

Over seven months after his death, Michael Jackson is etched in the hearts of millions of fans - and also in 12 feet of black granite that its maker plans to ship to the late king of pop's Neverland Ranch in California.
The statue is drawing curious crowds at the ninth International Granites & Stone Fair being held in the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (AIEC), about 20 km from here.
"It's a personal tribute to the greatest pop singer of our times! He lives in our hearts as he was on stage for years," R. Chandrasekaran, managing director of RC Golden Granites Ltd, told IANS.
As a diehard follower of the American singer who died suddenly June 25 last year, Chandrasekaran, 40, plans to gift the 3.5-tonne statue carved out of black granite to Jackson's estate in California. Jackson's sprawling estate is located at the Neverland Valley Ranch in Santa Barbara County. The rock singer lived there from 1988 to 2005.
"I have written to Jackson's family that I want to donate the statue for installing it in his famous estate. I will bear the freight charge, which is about $2,500," an elated Chandrasekaran said, while spectators thronged his company's stall to touch and feel the legendary singer in awe.
The Chennai-based granite firm spent a whopping $25,000 (Rs.1.2 million) in sculpting the statue out of a single block of huge rock that was quarried from a mine near Kanakapura, about 50 km from Bangalore.
"We employed six artisans to chisel the granite into Jackson's shape in 45 days at our factory in Kancheepuram. As black granite is brittle, the aesthetic art work was a test of patience, diligence and skill. His face and eyes were the most challenging as we wanted the statue to be expressive and poignant," Chandrasekaran said.
The company plans to ship the statue to the US west coast by next month after the family's consent in writing for securing clearances.
This is not the first time the four-year-old export firm has carved a statue for an icon, as it had sculpted a skeleton in black and white granite last year in aid of the campaign against smoking launched by former central health minister Anbumani Ramadoss.
"We specialise in sculpting exquisite monuments, statutes and other artefacts carved out of granite rocks, which are the oldest geological formations on earth. All our creations are exported to European customers on order," Chandrasekaran noted.
The skeleton statute, seated on black granite and titled "Hell's Preferred Citizen", was displayed at the Granite Monument Stone Fair in February 2009 in Chennai and at a fair against tobacco products in Mumbai, March 2009.
"The statue, dedicated to the anti-smoking campaign, has been installed at Nirman Bhavan in New Delhi where the health ministry is housed," Chandrasekaran noted.
As a music lover, Chandrasekaran also plans to create a statue dedicated to music maestro A.R. Rahman, who won two Oscars and two Grammys for the film Slumdog Millionaire.
"We will take Rahman's consent for making a granite statue in a pose and colour of his choice. At such a young age, he has brought so much fame and acclaim to our country from the world over," Chandrasekaran said.
Besides Jackson's statue, the four-day expo during Feb 4-7 is showcasing a Taj Mahal and a statue of Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in granite created and displayed by other companies.

1995 - Michael & Lisa Marie visit lawyer Johnnie Cochran at his new office in L.A.

2003 - ABC's "20/20" aired the British documentary "Living With Michael Jackson."

2003 - Michael Jackson released a statement regarding his unhappiness with the way in which he was portrayed in the 90-minute documentary "Living With Michael Jackson": Michael is devastated and feels utterly betrayed by the British television programme, ‘Living with Michael Jackson’, presented by Martin Bashir and broadcast in the UK on Monday 3rd February 2003, which he regards as a gross distortion of the truth and a tawdry attempt to misrepresent his life and his abilities as a father.

In a number of crucial respects Michael is concerned that Martin Bashir and Granada Television have broken the trust he placed in them. In particular, he felt he had obtained their assurance that his children would not be featured in any way in the broadcast programme. Michael repeatedly asked Bashir to stop filming his children, and was promised by him that the footage of his children would be taken out in the final edit but, Bashir said, shooting should not be stopped because “it would break the continuity of filming”.

Michael is deeply upset that the programme sensationally sets out to use two or three pieces of footage giving a wholly distorted picture of his behaviour and conduct as a father. Michael feels particularly devastated that he has been treated so badly by Martin Bashir, whom he let into the Jackson family home on a number of occasions over eight months, in the belief that Bashir wished to make a genuine documentary of his life. Michael believes that what was eventually broadcast was a salacious ratings chaser, designed to celebrate Martin Bashir and which was indifferent to the effect on Michael personally, his family and his close friends.
Michael originally consented to grant Bashir extended access to the Neverland Valley Ranch, his family and Michael himself, because he wanted to give the world a faithful representation of the truth about his life. Michael believes that the programme Bashir has produced is a travesty of the truth. Michael would never have consented to participating in this film if he had been aware of how Bashir was going to portray him. Michael believes that this programme was intentionally produced and edited with a view to broadcasting sensationalized innuendo. Michael feels deeply angry that the programme could have led viewers to conclude that he abuses children in any way. Michael Jackson has never, and would never, treat a child inappropriately or expose them to any harm and totally refutes any suggestions to the contrary. Michael would never betray the trust that a child, or their parents, might place in him.
Michael was today moved to make the following personal statement:

“I trusted Martin Bashir to come into my life and that of my family because I wanted the truth to be told. Martin Bashir, persuaded me to trust him that his would be an honest and fair portrayal of my life and told me that he was “the man that turned Diana’s life around” (referring to the late Diana, Princess of Wales). I am heartbroken that someone whom I treated as a friend could stoop so low. Today I feel more betrayed than perhaps ever before; that someone, who had got to know my children, my staff and me, whom I let into my heart and told the truth, could then sacrifice the trust I placed in him and produce this terrible and unfair programme.
It breaks my heart that anyone could truly believe that I would do anything to harm or endanger my children: they are the most important thing in my life. Everyone who knows me will know the truth which is that my children come first in my life and that I would never harm any child. I also want to thank my fans around the world for the overwhelming number of messages of support that I have received, particularly from Great Britain, where people have e-mailed me and said how appalled they were by the Bashir film. Their love and support has touched me greatly.”
Living with Michael Jackson” was broadcast on Monday 3rd February 2003 in the United Kingdom on the commercial channel, ITV, and was produced by the Granada Television programme “Tonight”. Granada Television’s ‘investigative journalist’, Martin Bashir, fronted the programme. The programme was viewed by Michael Jackson for first time late on Wednesday 5th February 2003.
A version of the programme was re-broadcast in the Netherlands and in Australia on 4th February and is due to be broadcast in the USA, on ABC, on Thursday 6th February 2003.

2008 - It is announced that Michael Jackson will appear at the Grammy Awards on Sunday January 10 - but he won't be singing at the ceremony. Jackson was rumored to be attending the Los Angeles bash to promote a 25th anniversary re-release of his seminal album Thriller, and organizers were keen for the star to duet on hits from the LP with a number of contemporary performers, including Will.I.Am, Akon, Kanye West and Fergie. But Jackson - who hasn't performed live in seven years - was reluctant to take on such a big project at short notice. A source tells the New York Post, "Michael can't go along with that. He needs more time to rehearse new versions of the songs. And everything requires new choreography." The Post reveals that Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich backed down and consented for Jackson to just appear onstage.

2009 - Michael goes to see Dr Klein in Beverly Hills.
