If I can recall correctly there was a drummer that said that he played a military drum type of beat for a song during the Bad sessions called Apocalypse Now. That could very well be an early version of TDCAU
I've just checked the magazine, these are JR Robinsons exact words as printed on Rhythm magazine (UK, issue 06/2010):
"There was anaother track I did that never made it called "Apocalypse Now" that I wrote six and a half minutes of milltary drum cadences for. I brought in Don Williams, John Williams' brother, Dan Greco and Bob Zimmitti and we recorded with four field snares, four piccolo snares, two sets of piatti and one gran casa. It was a very hip tune but it never made the record. I was kind of upset about that."
The persons he brought in are not credited on HIStory, so I assume "Apocalypse Now" ain't tdcau.
