Madonna Rock "N" Roll Hall of Fame (MJ Related)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7289029.stm

Madonna thanked her ex-manager Freddy DeMann who launched her to fame. As you know Freddy DeMann along with Ron Weisner was Michael Jackson & The Jacksons manager from 1976-83. Michael decided not to renew his contracts with them shortly after the release of the Beat It single in 1983.

Anyway Madonna insinuates in her speech that Freddy DeMann left Michael Jackson to become "Her" manager after meeting her (still an unknown in 1983). We know this is a lie and she knows that's a lie, as he was no longer Michael Jackson's manager when her met her. Madonna is very still obviously a very arrogant woman, and knows she not a genius like Michael or as iconic as Michael. She just likes to pretend she !

So, off I went to LA to find the man who managed Michael Jackson ... to make him my manager. Cut to Freddy Demann, another man I want to thank. The ultimate, mack daddy manager, slick back hair, tan ..."

Yeah, another thread bashing another artist

I am not a Madonna fan.. but respect her determination to succeed.. eventhough I don't condone she did it.. at all.. and by listening to that speech..it now confirms how intimidated she was at Michael's true talents and how conniving she was...

anyways...congrats to her on the induction...

Props to Madonna for still being in the business and being successful after all the years. However that speech just shows that she was really threatened by Michael and for her say that she made Michael's manager leave her to be her manager insinuating that she somehow thinks she is better just speaks volumes about her as a person.

was she just kidding?? why did she have to mention MJ?

Re: Madonna Rock "N" Roll Hall of Fame (MJ Related)

I like Madonna and always will. But I still wish she hadn't said that. It hurts me as a fan of both her and Michael. She should have thought about how saying something like that would make her look to MJ fans on the outside looking in who might be fans of hers too.

Who knows if DeMann just wanted new experiences with another artist. He had always managed Michael to the huge success, Michael technically didn't need him anymore that much even thou he needed a manager still. So, it's possible that DeMann was meeting Madonna and planning something if he had agreed with Michael to sign out..?

She wasn't joking, it seemed a bit spiteful. She really didn't need to say that at all and as I said before it says a lot about her. It was an honour for her to be there, it was nice her thanking all the people that helped her get where she is but there really was no need to start making digs or jibes at another artist and that's regardless of whether it was MJ, Prince, Cyndi Lauper or anyone else for that matter.

is he still managing her?? so once again Madonna has gone back to taking "jabs" at MJ. I thought she stopped that with her kabalaah teachings? Did the audience laugh when she said it?

They didn't laugh out loud but there were a couple of giggles. It's a shame because she was there to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame for her own achievements.

i didn't view the way she said that as negative or implying anything other than exactly what she stated, she wanted the guy who was managing Michael Jackson, to also manage her.

If anything I viewed it as a prop to Michael. She called him the greatest entertainer ... people, chill on Madonna.

she talks so fierce, no wonder she scared MJ.

MJ is soft-spoken, delicate and HUMBLE,
totally the opposite of her.

I believe it was a diss..

how was it a diss .. i really don't understand how people are seeing it as such ??

It was the way she said it and the fact that she 'made' him become her manager. I'm not trying to trash her or anything or what she has achieved I just didn't think it was necessary for her to say that. If MJ did a speech and said the same thing in that way I would have been disappointed in him too.

Ok, maybe I am wrong but don't mangers, manage more than one artist at a time ?? Or no ??

Yall can be offended by her speech all you want  It seems a little bit contrived to make a big deal of it ... to me at least.

I didn't watch it but if that is all she said, What is so wrong with that?
Can't see how she is dissing Michael.... but ok   some people are way too sensitive I guess

I don't know about the MJ part, but that whole speech was incredibly distasteful. This is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame she's being inducted to not a Comedy Central roast. It's ok to have jokes, but God...some of them weren't even jokes just really inappropriate stories for the atmosphere. Show some respect.

Oh, and did anyone notice that her British accent disappeared? Don't get me wrong, I respect her a ton for what she has accomplished, but she is about the fakest person I've ever seen in my life. I do also believe it was a jab at MJ, even if it was subtle. Basically "he was on top and then I took his spot" type thing.

Maybe I'm a bit too sensitive. I think it was how she said it and then the following part where said she made somebody become her manager too, it just seemed in the context like she thought she was better but then again I might be being a bit too sensitive :). I apologise if I have upset anyone.

Any artist in her postion would do the same thing.. It didn't mean she was trying to take his spot, Just wanting/trying to be as big a star as he is

I'd said it before and I'll say it again Madonna has zero class...Don't liker, never had.

I can understand that but if you watch the speech it just seems like she could have been a bit more respectful. That doesn't mean it was outright disrespect, but it could have been nicer. Her tone was very questionable.

I'm with Chichi on this one as well. I'm not a "fan" of Madonna per se, but people thinking this was a diss or disrespectful towards Michael left me . Dang anyhow-
