I came across this story on the 'Happyland' site...the 'gift giving' appears to date from last July (ie July 2011)
I wonder who the other 12 (Edit: 11!) people are that Joe has been giving MJ memorabilia to?
(Personal note: if they are serious about treating original manuscripts properly, you would think they would not handle them without wearing gloves).

Khang Thong Group owns the priceless memorabilia of Michael Jackson in Vietnam (Nov 16th, 2011)

Mrs. Phan Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Khang Thong Group, currently owns many precious memento of the King of Pop Michael Jackson. This memorabilia was brought from U.S by Mr. Joseph Jackson - the father of the legendary star to award for her. In the photo: Mr. Joseph Jackson celebrated his 83rd birthday at Happy Land Entertainment Complex (2011).

The song We Are The World made Michael Jackson come into the world music legendary, with the signatures of many famous singers used to sing this song (Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Wonder, stamped by the markers of Michael Jackson’s family (located on the top of the left side). We are The World by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie male singer in 1985 and composed a series of famous singers have recorded this song together for the charity of helping African poverty. The song then became an immortal masterpiece of the world music.

During a chance visiting Mrs. Phan Thi Phuong Thao’s house, actor Quyen Linh has first time looked at this memento. In the picture: MC Quyen Linh excitedly holding manuscripts of the popular song Black and White which was composed by the King of Pop since 1991.
According to the photographer who made this photo shoot, the draft text in the manuscript was Michael Jackson’s writing.

Mrs Phan Thi Phuong Thao also owns many other writings of Michael Jackson. All was in a hardcover book and was kept like a treasure.

During his singing career, Michael Jackson has always focused on apparel and accessories to give the impression to the audiences. In the photo is an expensive belt, much decorated with diamonds, arranged in fancy patterns. This belt has been used by the King of Pop.

Quyen Linh was excited about the belt.
The picture book was about the legendary life of Michael Jackson, since he was a boy until he became a world-famous star.
Quyen Linh attentively read the information about the photo books.
Although Quyen Linh was looking at the picture book, he was still more excited about the belt. Mrs. Phan Thi Phuong Thao had a four-day visit to Michael Jackson's mansion in America, from the invitation of Mr. Joseph Jackson.

Mr. Joseph Jackson said that his family just awarded the collection of photo books, album, song manuscripts ... to only 12 individuals worldwide and Mrs. Phan Thi Phuong Thao is one of those owners.
The Happyland Entertainment Complex was invested by Khang Thong Group, is expected to have a souvenirs area, memorabilia displays of music legend Michael Jackson.

Dear Mods, please forgive the double post, but I wondered if it might be possible to merge two 'Happyland' posts? There is another in the 'Controversy' section which was originally placed there because it begins with a Friedman article...so I have started this second thread for the 2300 Jackson street section...but it would be nice to have all 'Happyland' pieces in one place if possible...this is a big project and will get much bigger....

how did he get his hands on Michael's stuff the first placE? Did he steal it after Michael died?

I think the group purchased them at different auctions. The "We are the world" lyrics were sold after MJ passed.

I guess it's good PR to say Joe gifted them. I highly doubt the family has any great memorabilia. What they had, they let it go without a fight because they scammed their way into YET, another shady deal with Vaccaro.

So Joe gives the Happyland owner some irreplaceable MJ memorabilia...and then pulls out of the project?????!!!!!

The article says 'Happyland' was to be inspired by ...Neverland Valley Ranch...so no longer? Has the Estate taken a hand, I wonder (...after discussions with advisors...???)

But he plans to go back to look for investment opportunities? I wonder what happened to the hotel investment via Mr Sahouri?

Patriarch of the Jackson Family, Joseph Jackson Pulls out of Happyland Vietnam
Tuesday, January 24, 2012, 14:08

After careful due diligence and discussions with his wife, family and advisers, Mr. Jackson has decided not to proceed with any further investment or involvement in Project Happyland Vietnam.
Project Happyland Vietnam, backed by Khang Thong Group was projected to be the largest theme park in South East Asia. It was to be inspired by the late Michael Jackson’s Neverland Valley Ranch.

Mr. Jackson would like to thank the people of Vietnam for their warmth, hospitality and kindness. “I Believe in the growth potential of Vietnam and plan on visiting again soon to look for new opportunities over there.” Mr. Jackson said.

This is what Perez Hilton had previously written...so is the withdrawal of the compensation claim against Murray linked to pulling out of Happyland?

Is it just us, or is this kind of strange?
Back in December, we were pretty skeptical about Joe Jackson's persistent efforts to pursue the wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray. Seemed to us like Joe was looking for a pay day.

Now, it appears that we've learned why Joe might have wanted some extra $$$ - to invest in a five-star hotel/amusement park in Vietnam called Happyland.
That's right, folks. Jackson invested in the $2 million billion 1,000-room hotel/amusement park in the southern Long An province in Vietnam, which is scheduled to be completed in 2014.
Here's what Jackson had to say about it:
"I like discovering different cultures in the world. I like this project the most because it is located in a beautiful cultural and natural space."

We certainly can appreciate the desire to discover different cultures, but when Joe Jackson originally filed the wrongful death lawsuit on Michael's behalf, he never stated that the money would be going towards an amusement park and fancy hotel…in Vietnam.

Oh boy, "something" must have happened. LOL! I seriously don't believe Joseph Jackson would just "walk" away. He probably made PROMISES to those folks and can't live up to them, i.e. come to California, I'll take you to Neverland.

In any event, this latest situation is just par for the course when it comes to the Jackson's (excluding Janet) and there various attempts at being in business with others or by themselves.

On a "not" so serious note, maybe Joseph Jackson wants to spend all of his energy on the THREE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT in Gary, Indiana and that's why he left the Vietnam project. LOL!

^^That was the first question that came into my mind. Where did papa Joe get these things from? I cannot see Michael calling him up to give him these items. Did Michael forget some items at the house and certain people took it as theirs. Since 09 I have found out that several people have documents/art belonging to Michael Jackson, and they seem to be auctioning them off or giving them to charity to further hidden agendas.

I don't think Joe was hoping to get money from Muarry to invest in the Happyland project. The fool must have known from day one that Muarry had no money. I would like to know what exactly caused him to pull out, because he must have been expecting money to come from somewhere. I guess the AEG suit is becoming more like a last resort for Joe and company now.

I hadn't realised that joe was an investor - i thought that the vietnamese were just using him as a figurehead for their neverland development with his connection to mj and that he was getting paid for this. That money they're so confident of winning from aeg has obviously already been spent many times over in their heads.

^^You got that right--in their heads. In their heads they have all made big plans for that money.

It is interesting that Joe is not saying much about his reasons for stepping away from this deal. I am getting the feeling that Joe likes to attach his name to big deals so that he can feel like a big business manager.
