Kathryn Stokes is $1.8 million richer after hitting the jackpot on a Michael Jackson-themed slot machine at Fallsview Casino Resort, in Niagara Falls, Ont., Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013. Stokes was playing the casino's Michael Jackson The King of Pop for approximately one hour before earning herself a jackpot of $1,862,447.25.
NIAGARA FALLS -- She saw the Michael Jackson slot machine and knew she wanted to Beat It.
Kathryn Stokes won $1.8 million at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls playing a Jackson-themed slot machine Tuesday afternoon.
"It's unbelievable," said the 55-year-old. "This is only my second visit to Fallsview Casino. I chose this machine because I love Michael Jackson's music and I was lucky to win a few hundred dollars the first time I played. This time I put in only $60."
Stokes played the casino's Michael Jackson The King of Pop machine for about an hour before earning herself a jackpot of $1,862,447.25.
Stokes, who works with the Peel Regional Police in Brampton, a Toronto suburb, said she's not a gambler but decided to tag along with her friend and a legion in Woodbridge which was making a trip to the casino.
"Huge," she said when asked if she's a Jackson fan. "That's what drew me to it."
Stokes said she's still trying to process the big win and is not entirely sure what she wants to do with the money.
"I have no idea at the moment. I'm looking at a brand new car."
The largest payout to date at Niagara Casinos was on Feb. 14, 2002, when Doris Wendt of North Tonawanda won $5.6 million.
