Want to celebrate MJ’s Birthday with your fellow MJ fam but can’t find anything going on in your hometown! Then no need to worry! The Hugest MJ Party will be happening online for all fans all over the globe!
1. What is #MJGBP?
#MJGBP stands for the Michael Jackson Global Birthday Party. The free event is run yearly by Michael Jackson fans and enables fans from all over the world to listen to MJ music together, take part in a chatroom, and #MJGBP is the first MJ event to also allow fans to appear in a LIVE video stream on Michael’s birthday, to sing, dance, or just chat!
Highlights from last year (#MJGBP2013)
2. When is it?
#MJGBP2014 is held over 3 days, the 28th, 29th and 30th August 2014. The chatroom and music is available for this whole period. The live video feed is broadcast in sections of 4 hours over the 3 days. Usually this results in about 6 x 4 hour live video sessions where all fans are invited!
3. How can I take part?
There are various ways you can take part on #MJGBP2014:
Send messages to other fans in the chatroom.
Listen to the MJ party music playing.
Appear in the LIVE VIDEO’s. (APPLY HERE)
Send in your pre-recorded messages (Upload to YouTube or email them to us)
Take part in one of the ways, OR ALL OF THEM!
4. What actually happens over the 3 days?
All you need to do is visit
www.mjglobalbirthdayparty.com on the 29th August in your country, to watch and listen to the party.
If you have selected to appear in the live video, you need to make sure you have a working internet connection, a webcam, and have added the PARTY HOST to your Google+ circles.
Just before the start of the live broadcasts, the PARTY HOST will send you a video hangout invite over the free Google+ Hangouts service, only 7 fans can fit into the live video at any one time, so every single fan that added the PARTY HOST to their circles will be sent an invite at the same time. The first 7 fans to successfully accept the invite should make it into the live video.
If you are wanting to appear in the live broadcasts, remember that in order to be selected to appear on the big screen, you will need to be as entertaining as possible, whether that be singing, dancing, or just showing everyone your favourite MJ gear!
We also like to attempt some interesting things, such as poking each other and even disasters like this! (it worked out well in the end!)
5. What is unique about #MJGBP2014?
#MJGBP2014, will be similar to our 2013 party, but with a different theme…. 3D! Although optional, to get the maximum experience we recommend getting hold of some cheap (or even free!) Red/Cyan glasses: . We have also learnt a lot from our last party and we will be making some changes and improvements this time around.
6. Why 3D?
Michael was very much into using the latest technology in all of his creations. Although the 3D we are using has been around for years, it is the most accessible version of 3D to be able to generate, and you do not need specialist equipment in order to view it, just some red/cyan 3D glasses.
7. What will be in 3D?
We are going to get as much of it in 3D as possible! We are looking into 3D webcams for some of us, a 3D website and hopefully we will be able to show some 3D MJ videos in real-time to video participants along with posting the links to the 3D videos to fans NOT in the live video feed. Videos such as “This Is It” and “Ghosts”, to name just a few. (Some countries may suffer from certain video restrictions, but we will do our best to get the videos out to as many fans as possible!).
8. What glasses can I use for the 3D?
There are various versions of these kinds of glasses, normally the difference is just the colours of the eye lenses. The ones you need for our party are the ones with red/cyan lenses like these ones:
9. Can we chat to each-other when in the video hangout?
YES! We recommend using a headset, or iPod style headphones with the built in Microphone. There will be fans joining us from all over the world, so the chatroom will be English only. Using a microphone will make your voice clearer, and those that have trouble understanding English will have more or a chance of understanding what is being said with less noise in the background.
10. Can I play my own music?
YES, but it must not be audible to others. It is important that you turn down the #MJGBP party music/your own, or use a headset so that the music does not play through your own microphone. Not only will this make your voice much clearer, but this is also for copyright reasons. If there is copyrited music playing in the background, YouTube may block the videos from playing in some countries. If this is not possible we will mute your sound for you remotely as the video party hosts.
11. How do I turn on the 3D?
For the website, there is a 2D/3D toggle option in the top right of the website. For the videos, there will be guidance under the live video and we will provide guidance in the chatrooms.
12. Are there any tips to viewing the 3D content?
YouTube content requires 3D to be switched on. 1. Click 2. switch 3D on. 3. In “options”, select “Full color” and the “Red / Cyan” mode. Depending on the speed of your internet connection, we also recommend you view the videos as large as possible and in HD.
13. What if I cannot hear the party music?
The music on the day is provided legally by Michaelizer Radio. The music stream is broadcasted by Radionomy. If you cannot hear the music and you have checked that your speakers are on and are working, then try listening directly from the Radionomy site here, or directly from the Michaelizer radio site here.
