I honestly don't know where to post this, but I'm sure a lot of you have heard about what happened in paris a couple of minutes ago (At the time of writing). And I don't know how many believers we have in here. But I would like to ask you, believer or not, to just pray for Paris, the families and victims of thos tragedy! They need all the help they can get now!

Thank you MJFam!

God bless

Paris Crisis

I've posted this in another thread, but I'm very confused about where to post this, but I think it needs some attention, so I'm posting it here as well.

I'm listening to CNN's continued coverage right now, trying to catch up on the latest news. I can't get used to this; I refuse to become desensitized to it! WTF is wrong with people??!

The numbers are horrifying. I remember getting to University this morning and reading about 40 had been confirmed dead (and that was already shocking). An hour or two later, my friend (who had just finished work and thus was unaware of what went on) asked about France and by that point it was already 120 confirmed dead :(

Speechless man :(

It keeps getting worse; CNN's reporting at least 150 confirmed dead and scores more injured (many critically), so the fatality rate could rise. Most of the fatalities are at a concert hall where an American rock band was playing. If I'm hearing this report right (still listening to CNN radio) the terrorists hit 3 places at the same time: the concert hall, a sports stadium and restaurant.

Sending love to France... I wish I could do more than that

Awh man :(

Is that photo from today? I thought the Eiffel Tower went dark (for the first time since 9/11)? However, your photo reminded me of something I saw in the news a couple of hours ago. The Sky Tower (biggest tower in not only my country, but the WHOLE ENTIRE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE) is lighting up in the colours of France:

Other landmarks too!

This is devastating.. They attacked at 7 places at the same time, over 150 people are dead, 200 injured, 80 critically. I watched this unfold yesterday, horrible footage. I can't believe it.. all those innocent people  and for nothing

I Googled that pic after I saw other landmarks in France's colors. I'm glad many people across the planet are showing love and support for France in this dark time.

Sending LOVE to all MJ fans in France and to everyone out there .

It´s so sad that something like this could happen.
From an article
The authorities in France, Spain and the UK have expressly warned against this kind of events. It's something that both scientists and intelligence services have been very concerned about.
The past two years the Frenchman has averted 17 terrorist plans, while three have been executed.
- Almost every week they find someone who is associated with or have direct links to the IS.

I read that the terrorists blamed the French president Hollande for it,for France's involvement in Syria.
I also read that the aim was to kill as many as possible, it didn´t matter who they were

This is crazy. A few weeks ago, I was not far from one of the places where people died. Yesterday night, I was trying to find something interesting on tv, and saw the president talk. I was like "What is he doing there ?". The news channels gave me a few answers. 41 victims then 60. This morning they said at least 128 people died. You can't even chill and socialise on a Friday night because some crazy f*cks might kill you now ? It's different when it happens in the country you live in. Sh*t just got real. You can't just stop going out though... May all the victims rest in peace. *Hugs to the families and friends of the victims*

Re: Paris Crisis

Something I will never understand. Terrorist and their attacks.
This brings back to remembrance that horrible day 14 years ago.

Wishing for peace.

:(

Thoughts and prayers for all those affected.

Truly devastating and horrifying attack on innocent people. My heartfelt condolences to anyone affected

It is heart warming to see how people come together and helping other people in times like this.

That is for French people who are stranded all over the world and completely strangers are offering places to stay for these people.

Today is a day of mourning, but I'm convinced that in its aftermath France will stand tall and proud in the face of terror. This great nation and its people will rise above this senseless act.

Those who frame this conflict in terms of clash of civilizations do a great diservice. It simply is a fight between humanity and inhumanity, civility and barbarity. That is why it is so important and beautiful to see the world pay its respect and show solidarity with France.

VIVE LA FRANCE!!!

Horrifying and senseless. It makes me cry. Prayers for the victims and the families, and the City of Love. :girl_cry:

The horrible terror attack in Paris proved for one more time, & in the worst possible way, that global terrorism (which is brought on by extreme, religious-driven, mainly Muslim groups) is a phenomenon not only impossible to be stopped but also totally unpredictable in its nature.

Co-operation between the European countries is more urgent than ever. Also, countries that constitute a natural border for the whole European Union (such as Greece, Spain) need to intensify even more their precautionary measures &, also, to be significantly supported (in terms of funds) by the EU. There is no denying that terrorism cannot be fully eliminated, but, at least, it has to be minimized.

Technology (in all its forms) is a mixed blessing because it can be used (& probably in a more effective way) also by religious-driven, extreme terrorists.

European governments have to act in a consistent & unanimous way. Each & every one European country has to implement strict measures not only for its own citizens’ safety but also for the safety of the European Union. I can understand, of course, that fighting effectively against this phenomenon is extremely difficult, considering the practically limitless ways that a terror attack can take. In other words, you have to be proactive & to predict the unpredictable, which is virtually impossible.

In any case, European governments have to be greatly & constantly alarmed against this complicated, life-threatening problem of global terrorism.

PARIS—At least one of the attackers outside France’s national soccer stadium had a ticket to the game and attempted to enter the 80,000-person venue, according to a Stade de France security guard who was on duty and French police.

The guard—who asked to be identified only by his first name, Zouheir—said the attacker was discovered wearing an explosives vest when he was frisked at the entrance to the stadium about 15 minutes into the game. France was playing an exhibition against Germany inside.

While attempting to back away from security, Zouheir said, the attacker detonated the vest. Zouheir, who was stationed by the players’ tunnel, said he was briefed on the sequence by the security frisking team at the gate.

A police officer confirmed the sequence, adding that police suspect the attacker aimed to detonate his vest inside the stadium in order to provoke a deadly stampede.

Around three minutes later, a second person also blew himself up outside the stadium. A third suicide attacker detonated explosives at a nearby McDonald’s, police said. One civilian died in the attacks, police said.

The account sheds light on why the suicide attacks on Stade de France failed to cause the carnage that occurred at the Bataclan concert hall and restaurants across Paris.

This sounds great in theory but how do you want to implement this? What strict measures could prevent an attack like this from happening again? I am concerned that in response to these events we will self-impose restrictions on our freedoms which is exactly what the terrorists intended in the first place. Someone said this is not a clash of civilizations but it is. A secular modern Europe is simply incompatible with fundamentalist Islam. These terrorists and those who support them despise everything Europe (and the West) stands for. That is why the best way to defeat them is not to give in to our fears and put "safety" over everything but to continue to defend our freedom of expression, freedom of travel and freedom of (and from!) religion.

Re: Paris Crisis

To think I was only in Paris this day last week amongst all those lovely people in that amazing city.

Paris is stronger than the hatred that appeared yesterday. Paris will rise.

Seeing those kinds of attacks angers me so much. It's got ISIS all over it, the news say that those attackers were chanting "SYRIA" and not only the news mentioned about a the entire soccer game heard the explosions, the attackers even broke in to the concert hall where Eagles Of Death Metal were performing. I watched 20/20 last night on CHCH with one of the attendant told how the attack happened while she's on the balcony of the concert, at first the band thought the attack was a joke, but when the shots were fired, she and everybody on the same spot knew what went wrong and so on.

Not just Europe as you mention were taking extreme measures to increase more security and protection, I've heard New York was about to do the same and even sporting events as well, the NHL, NBA and NFL needed to increase security as well. Such attacks before like the Boston Marathon, Parliament Hill in Ottawa were jst bad enough, but the 6 location attacks in Paris really takes the cake.

As I say my message earlier in French.

"Mes profonde prieres au peuple de Paris. Restez Fort."

"My deepest prayers to the people of Paris. Stay Strong."

For me, it is a clash of civilizations between Islam & West. I mean there is a division (based on cultural/religious differences) between Islam & West that neither can be ignored nor can be fully erased.

Muslim terrorist groups (mainly ISIS & Taliban) are to blame for the majority of the worldwide terrorist attacks. These groups that are induced by religious incentives (a prophecy fulfillment, for example) refuse to accept that peace is a fundamental right, & thus target (& kill) European citizens so as to get the terrorists’ messages across.

The defense against (Muslim) terrorism can be carried out in several ways, for example:

There is no doubt that Muslim terrorists must be kept off from Europe at all costs. Implementing strict measures (mainly, military ones) on Europe’s borders is a step in the right direction. Also, the Mediterranean coast is an area that has to be given a great priority because of its territorial, special needs (many small Greek islands, for example).

Also, immigration policies have to become stricter & more effective. Countries that constitute a natural, European border (such as the Southern European ones) have to impose even stricter immigration measures, & if necessary, to restrict at the lowest possible degree the influx of Muslim immigrants.

Building mosques in Europe or introducing laws that allow Islamic schools to operate in European countries do more harm that good to the fight against this phenomenon. European governments have to be more cautious & sceptical about such kind of freedom that potentially can act as an incubator for such extreme, religious-driven, violent behaviors.

Also, Europe has to implement laws that ostracize (religious) fanaticism & extremism while its values of democracy are being greatly secured. The fact that European governments encourage (or do not forbid) conversion to Islam is a parameter that potentially can worsen the phenomenon of terrorism.

Of course, co-operation between European governments & USA is crucial (although the terrorist cases between these two territories do not share many similarities). But, both parties can be benefited in many levels (exchange of know-how, for example).

I can understand that these terrorist, Muslim groups are very flexible in the way they act & its members can very easily penetrate countries (acting many times autonomously so as to get the desired geographical access). But, to self impose restrictions on our freedom, for the most part, can only hamper our life without necessarily eliminate the existence of this phenomenon.

60.000 children have been born in refugee camps in Lebanon.
They get no paper, have no rights for example to go in school.
It´s not only there , it´s the same in other places too and there are older children too.
Children who grow up with no hope, are an easy target for terrorists when they want to recruit more people.

I think it´s very important to stop the war in Syria, bring order to Libya, to get peace in the middleeast.
Rebuild what has been destroyed, having children back in school- it can be better in refugee camps too if they get more money so people can have enough with food and school for children.
To bring back hope for the future

I´m not muslim but I´ve heard that Islam is an tolerant religion, we should love each other and not kill.
These terrorist interpret the Koran in their own way, we have a saying as satan reads the bible, I suppose that´s the way they read The Quran

I have to say Europe's current overly liberal migration policy is madness. Basically it allows the influx of hundreds of unidentified people. Hundreds of thousands of people are walking around in Europe about whom no one knows who they are. Most of them are not even registered but even those who are can say whatever they want about their identity and background. I read this week in a German newspaper that many migrants who are going into the country never register in fear of being pushed out, they simply disappear in the country. No one knows where they are and what they are up to. I think the US would never put its own people in such a high risk security situation as Europe is doing currently. It's simply crazy and suicidal.

I am not saying Europe should not take up refugees at all, but this is not the way. Let them register and apply for asylum outside of Europe's boarders and only let those in who underwent a strict security background check and who are genuine refugees. Like all normal countries are doing it, BTW. You are not going to enter the US, Canada or Australia without a diligent background check, so why should Europe allow hundreds of thousands of unidentified people walk around in its territory? I can't get my head around the madness of what is going on in Europe right now, thanks to Angela Merkel and the incompetent EU leaders.

And the main target should not be to relocate all people from the Middle East to Europe. The main target should be to make their countries of origin safe again and keep them there or send them back when the danger is eliminated. Yes, I am sure Germany's economy is better, there are more job opportunities, but if you are going for that then that is economic migration, not asylum seeking. I would not even have a problem even with that, especially if the accepting country says it needs the new work force, but I am very sceptical about this whole multikulti experiment. The result so far does not seem good. There are parallel societies in Western European countries with large Muslim communities where they implement Sharia law and where even the police is afraid to enter. Unfortunately, Islam and secular Western societies are hardly compatible with each other. I am not saying all Muslims are into a hard line interpretation of their religion, but the integration experiment so far in Western Europe has not brought the best results.
