My bad. Didn't look at the date. lol I don't know how I feel about Benny Boom directing. He's no F. Gary Gray.

My review of the movie:

Overall I'll have to say it was "okay", it came out good however for those who know about tupacs life.. you don't learn much! it goes through pretty much everything that has been stated before through various documentaries etc. It was cool to see it acted out instead of just spoken about.. However I was going in hoping to see things I was not aware of. there was literally maybe 3-5 things that were new to me and they were not important key things..

I'll say those of who do not know much about tupac yet are interested on learning about his life - you will probably find more appreciation.

Overall I guess I five it a 7/10 - it was a good quality movie, just wanted to learn more.. And there were some things with Jada that did not happen that were in the movie.

Seeing it tomorrow but not surprised it's getting the reviews it's getting. Benny Boom has done 2 films, His first which was poorly received and the second being a Direct to DVD sequel of S.W.A.T. so that kinda told me enough.

It's not the worst biopic......but when you consider that there is a lot of material out there on the life of Tupac, especially on You Tube.......why leave important things out, while at the same time make things up....eg. Tupac never performed Hail Mary during his House of Blues concert in July 1996 which was depicted in the film.....talk about sloppy research

Demetrius Shipp Jr. was fine as 2Pac and I liked Danai Gurira as his mother but at the end of the day it was just a cliched by-the-numbers biopic that felt all over the place. Also doesn't help that Jada Pinkett Smith denounced the scenes of her in the film that she said never happened (granted many biopics aren't 100% accurate) and was throwing way too much info all at once w/ little to no smooth transitions.

^ I feel ya! I just took the Jada scenes as ways to show there connection with limited time to dedicate to one relationship.. It would take a movie on that alone to grasp the relationship.. same between him and his mother.. The one thing I wish they did more is expand on what he did for his community.. they showed a good heart but barely scratched the surface on that.. From writing the hood commandments, giving people from the hood jobs, to doing free concerts collecting funds that went straight to the community.. He also planned to have 'Thug mansions' to help rehabilitate those who been effected from poverty living and prevent youngsters from fallowing that path.. There was a lot more.. That's the stuff that gets over shadowed by legal battles.. Or even the fact he's spent time in jail more than once for stuff he did not do and never 'snitched'.. (example when he got in trouble for gun possession, the ones that were illegally owned were not his)

Another thing, Jarrett Ellis who played Snoop when he used to be Snoop Doggy Dogg looked nothing like snoop and whenever he spoke that was clearly voiceover from 2017 Snoop Dogg. That was so laughably bad.

I found those scenes pretty jarring and really annoying, and the fact that Tupac didn't perform Hail Mary at the House of Blues in 96. Why make stuff up which can be clearly be disputed?
