Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

From people who went to the concerts? If they attended more than one concert they might mix them together because it has been 25 years. According to Setlist.fm all other Wembley concerts had TWYMMF but not July 16:

Of course I hope you are right and it was performed :)

Lol at that site. Same as Wikipedia lol

Also, they're all saying he performed TWYMMF so I'm not sure now. Also I don't think it really matters anyway now cause I'm sure they will add it in concert if not then put in extras.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

There's a lot of talk about Nocturne and their filming of the concerts for archiving and the jumbo screen at the concerts, but surely they didn't film this...??

If not, then who filmed them? Was it specifically shot for Moonwalker? How many concerts were filmed? We know that it's at least 2. And how much of each concert was filmed? The whole concerts or just 1 or 2 songs? Which dates is this footage from? These are te kinds of things we really need answers to.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

Not July 16. I hope they add The Way You Make Me Feel as bonus from other Bad Tour concert.

I'm not sure about that.. I found these too and the title says "Michael Jackson Dirty Diana Live x4 Photos 4x6 Bad Tour 25 Anniversary Pepsi New"

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

Nobody said that he replaced TWYMMF for DD, I don't know who made that up but.....

According to Jackson in an interview with Barbara Walters, "Dirty Diana" was scheduled for a live 1988 performance at Wembley Stadium during the Bad World Tour; however, Jackson felt the song would be an insult to Princess Diana, who was in attendance, so he had it removed. After Diana informed him the song was actually one of her personal favorites, Jackson re-added the song to the set list.

I guess it´s all about intellectual property. If Sony (or the Estate) owns the rights on Moonwalker, it´s well possible that Nocturne also filmed these scenes.

By the way: Eagle Rock bought the rights on the 1983 Queen concert in 2006 to release it one year later on HD-DVD and Blu-ray. For me the Queen project is in nearly every regard what I would expect from a perfect Michael Jackson Blu-ray release.

Quality is really neat:

Actually we know quite a lot about, which concerts were at least partially captured on film.
  • The movie Moonwalker features scenes from Hannover (Germany), Munich*, Milton Keynes (Great Britain), London and Werchter. [source: Moonwalker Blu-ray]
  • Warren Eagles states that "2 nights out of the 5 Wembley stadium gigs" and also "earlier tour legs in Australia, Japan, and Europe" were filmed on either 16mm or 35mm. [source]
  • The Another Part of Me video (taken from Warren Eagles early work) contains material from London and Paris.
  • There are several videos, which (to me) suggest that they were shot on film too. For example this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_1_3E-VMdc (much depth of field, vivid colours and as I think also a bit grain)

*I´m not sure about Munich. The guys in the yellow shirts (at about 1:00) seem have the word "Munich" or "München" printed on their arms.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

I have just read the statement from John Branca regarding the Bad 25 DVD and they have used the same technology as NASA used to restore their VHS tapes I believe they have made the correct choices for this release and i am extremely pleased with what the estate have done for this great package, thank you so much estate.

full statement from the estate of Michael Jackson regarding the Bad Tour Wembley July 16th 1988 DVD:

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

I could imagine the insane amount of money it most cost if they are having to pay a company like that (that NASA uses). They are truly doing the best they can.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

This was a good statement! We found out alot of things

A. They are really listening to fans because they know how we feel about yokohama being released

B. They infact are in possesion of alot of concerts from The Bad Tour.

C. They are doing their best to restore it during these rough circumstances.

I Just hope that they can one day maybe restore the audio of one of the concerts (LA) and release another Bad Tour on DVD/Bluray :)

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

So its one of the reasons we suspected, masters are lost.

Depressing, right? This means that we might never see a decent HQ quality ever released. And if the video quality is decent on future concert releases, the audio will be shit (like they said).

35mm and 16mm I feel we can just forget about since The Estate didn't even mention them.

Re: Bad Tour DVD (Disscussion Thread)

If they are lost. they doesnt mean they cant be found...but if lost and destroyed/no longer usable.....oh my a fans worse nightmare
