"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

It is unknown which lawyer Miles is eyeing the possibility of playing - in particular whether he will portray Howard Weitzman, Mark Geragos or Thomas Mesereau.

These are attorneys, Branca is a lawyer.

Looks like I was right 😉

Miles Teller confirmed as John Branca.

Smh

I knew it was him, but I didn't wanna give the satisfaction. Branca cinematic spin off when?
I can already see this version of Branca being potrayed as the brains behind the Michael Jackson brand , Michael's best friend and the one signed him up to all those the lucrative sponsorship deals.

You just know Branca will be that guy

"It was Branca who inspired Joe Jackson to beat the children to enhance their performance".

I can unironically see some fans saying he's that bad.

Not saying that I think this is going to happen but if it did I would probably just shrug and say it's something I'd expect the estate to do.

We have no clue how big of a role hell actually get. None of this means he's "important", but it's just historical facts he was there.

You're right mate we have no idea, but Miles Teller is a pretty big actor to be just a minor role, I doubt he'd want to join for a bit part role. It was only 18 months ago he was in leading role opposite Tom Cruise in Top Gun

Just speculation on my part

Equally good point. I wonder who if anyone they'll get to play Paul McCartney.

I agree with you unfortunately, he was also like the fifth character/actor announced before any of the siblings or quincy for example.

I just hope Prince and other family members agreed with the script and John didnt have too much of influence on it..

Teller is a big name actor so I agree it's gonna be a big role.

It's a movie, it's not gonna be 100% accurate and they will dramatize certain aspects of it too.

I think Branca will be portrayed as being the main man behind the scenes.

I watched the Elvis movie recently and one of his Memphis Mafia crew, Jerry Schilling was made out to be the lead Memphis Mafia guy but there was other pals that were much closer.

Maybe he's just a really big Branca fan and really wanted to have the chance to play Branca no matter how small the role.

I guess branca is gonna do narrations...
They better not!

We've come so far, from y'all suggesting deep fakes to impersonators, to the mans own nephew himself.

Who's going to play Karen Faye and let her ruin every scene she's in. And MJs face.

People attribute things to her that were Michael's own wishes.

I'm happy he embraced more natural looks 2003 onwards than in the previous years.

Towards the end of this is it movie when they’re sort of wrapping up you can see Michael with a huge smile opening his arms for a hug with Faye, clearly someone there who's very close to him, having been with him since Thriller, but she is cut out of the picture.

Making any biography without consulting the few people whom Michael really confided in, like his closest collaborators, can't be representative of the truth.
Though MORE important is if it were as focused on commitment to community and selfless love as he was.

I don't expect this to be accurate at all. I fully expect it to be more about getting MJ across rather than being accurate.

I'm sure there'll be plenty that will annoy me, but best I can hope for is that it gets MJ across and portrays him properly.

It's not a documentary or even a docudrama, it's a biopic. It's basically a dramatic biography for MJ, not his whole life story or anything, so you're right that it's not the focus.

Like I've been saying, this film can basically be a complement to what we can see, about Thriller, Bad, This Is It, whatever era of MJ a person wants to see. To make it a huge 2 parter of MJs birth to death is unfocused and counterproductive. They don't need to make us think about 2009 all over again. And to ignore what has unfortunately threatened to envelop MJs appeal (the allegations) is at best naive, at worst a sign of a shallow corporate product. So it's best to answer, but it doesn't need to be Law and Order. Just show us who MJ was and idealism will do the rest.

Half the battle is won though. Casting a soft spoken Jackson is the perfect choice.

I have to agree like the makeup he had for the invincible signing did not look good on him ( please guys dont hate for this!)
