"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

I think it's seemingly more likely this film will run up until the Dangerous Tour. Just my thoughts
Brother, if I’m not mistaken I think I saw a cast announcement for Paris the other day. I can’t quite remember if it was a fan cast or legit, I didn’t pay that much attention, but if true it means we’ll get the later years as well.

With all due respect, that would not maky any sense. We have been told the controversies will be tackled with properly and the biggest controversy surely was the Chandler affair and the trial. Having the movie end with the Dangerous tour would leave out the trial and it doesn't add up.

Do they have to have permission to use names, last thing we want is another lawsuit

Possible to make a threat with just news and updates on the movie, trawling through all these off track comments to find updates

No need for permission. They are historical figures so they can be portrayed in both authorized and non authorized projects (bios etc)
I do wonder though how much of the 93 case they can discuss? Are they not limited due to the settlement agreement?

If they can convincingly portray his relationship with children being innocent than there is no need to show any of the allegations imo

They must address the allegations. They can’t avoid it coz it’ll hurt some MJ fans feelings, it is a dark cloud over MJ’s legacy, if that cloud can be lifted, it will be amazing. For that to happen, we need to see the extortion attempts, how people took advantage of him, the people involved. If this movie doesn’t show the allegations, it will be all people talk about and overshadow everything else. If they do show it, it will be one part of many things people talk about.

Address the allegations head on and in the biggest way possible.

Michael's name has been put through the dirt for decades due to these allegations. It's about time this film stands up for him and tell the audience exactly what was going on, ie what you said about extortion attempts etc

All that can be shown generally without specifically adressing the allegations;imo it would make it stronger and less an open goal for the haters to attack with 'facts' surrounding the cases and deflect from the rest of the movie

This is a very good and clear description.

My man 🥂

I had no idea to be honest brother. I've only seen casting for Joe, Katherine and people from Motown so far.
