kick that in the doodahs no i shall not answer

That sounds so much worse than it is
Which bit? Monolingual? Trust me, in the UK that's normal. Boringly normal so there's no stress. Most of the people I know who are multilingual are Europeans, lol. I studied languages at school so at least I have an appreciation of how fabulous languages are and the difference between reading literature in the original vs. reading a translation.

Or was it the 'heathen' bit? I just use that as a lazy bit of shorthand bc I can't be arsed to try to explain my beliefs / thoughts / uncertainties / questions etc. I'm done with those conversations. They go round in circles and drive me crazy. Ime, many church Christians will insist that they love difficult questions and then the minute you ask a difficult question they step away from you as if you are the spawn of the devil. Which I find highly amusing but which leaves the question unaddressed, lol.

(well, it isn´t a bad thing at all lol) :ROFLMAO:
Truth be told, I use the word 'heathen' bc I fell in love with it when I was about 5 yo. I've been calling myself a heathen ever since. :ROFLMAO:

It makes an awsome movie title, though:
COMING TO YOUR THEATERS SOON!
THE MONOLINGUAL HEATHEN
One woman and her mesmerising story of challenge, transformation and - finally- triumph!
Today's challenge is to try to limit myself to only 2 Cadbury's creme eggs. Sometimes on Maundy Thursday I'll go to a Tenebrae service. This year it's all about the chocolate!

I bet you were a cool kid  Maybe stubborn? I certainly was lol

A secret (didn´t tell anyone, yet):
I have an appointment at the district court to leave the catholic church (you have to basically deregister). I wonder if I will have the guts to really do it. I will still be be a Christian after that, and I wanna be. But I can´t be a Catholic anymore ... :-(

... yeah, I have been thinking about it for some time. Many German catholics have left (my brother did as well). The horrible abuse cases surfacing, the super acient macho male hierarchy where woman are basically only are allowed to serve but not to act, the mere fact that religion has been used by humans to opress other humans ....

Is this really me talking? lol 😶
never thought I would arrive at this point, wanting to leave

I've just been reading this (from 2023, data from 2022):

Also, it is extremely hypocritical to me how rich the catholic church is here.

The infamous case of the Bishop of Limburg is an extreme case, but the way it was handled and that he was able to build this "temple" in the first place, speaks volumes:

OMG it is sooooo ugly. Germany was so mad and also laughed about this. But it is disgusting, really.

EDIT: BISHOP OF BLING :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I'm shocked that German Catholics are PAYING TAXES to the German Catholic church. WHAT THE ACTUAL ???????????????

AND you have to friggin' PAY them when you want to leave?

FFS !!!!!!!!!!!

The insanity of it.

Ah. The Bishop of Bling. I remember that. Disgusting. I mean, I had issues with Mother Teresa but at least she got some kids fed and watered. She did that much.
