    Default Michael Receives Awards

Michael Jackson has set many records throughout his career and won many awards from the early days of the Jackson 5 to the current day. Michael has won more awards than any other artist.

We offer the information on ceremonies of Awards, on which Michael accepted awards, about awards. We will present information, photos and video chronologically, since the first moments of a recognition and finishing … isn't present, it will be impossible to finish this theme. Because the meteoric shower of awards proceeds, and we trust, will proceed still long …

Let's admire the moments of triumph what there was a set in its bright destiny.
It is an tribute of admiration and love.

We have finished to collect it and place it here.

    NAACP Image Awards

Best Singing Group of the Year

An NAACP Image Award is an accolade presented by the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to honor outstanding people of color in film, television, music, and literature.
    Vebsite - http://www.naacpimageawards.net/41/home/

Similar to other awards, like the Oscars and the Grammys, the 35 categories of Image Awards are voted on by members of the NAACP. There are also honorary awards, including the President's Award, the Chairman's Award, Entertainer of the Year and The Image Award Hall of Fame.

The awards were first presented in 1967. The awards series, normally broadcast with tape delay and aired by Fox Network, was broadcast live for the first time in 2007 for the 38th edition of the awards show. It was first nationally televised in 1974. The annual ceremonies usually take place in or around the Los Angeles area in February or early March.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NAACP_Image_Award

In 1970 "I Want You Back" the Jackson 5ive's first single with Motown from their debut album, Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5ive, was released in late 1969 and the week of January 31, 1970, become their fist number one hit single on Billboard's pop singles chart, where it spent one week. The single also went to number one on Billboard's Black singles chart.
The Jackson 5ive perform "I Want You Back" on Andy Williams Show.

At the 2nd edition of NAACP Image Awards, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 receive the NAACP Image award for Best Singing Group of the Year from the National Association For The Advancement Of Black People.

It was no one-off award. The boys, with their clean cut image and wholesome message, were seen as perfect role models for black kids all over America.

Three albums – the unimaginatively named Third Album, a Christmas collection and Maybe Tomorrow – each sold millions. The adulation kept growing too. During their second tour one concert had to be cut short when a huge crowd of over-excited young girls stormed the stage. The show was resumed but the same thing happened again at the end.

    NAACP Image Awards

Best Singing Group of the Year - The Jackson 5

In January 1971, The Jackson 5 received the NAACP Image Award for Best Singing Group of the Year.

They also attended the Grammy Awards in April where they were nominated for Best Contemporary Vocal Group.

    1971

Key To The City Of Gary Indiana

For the first time since they moved to California, the Jackson 5 returned to their hometown, Gary. They played two benefit concerts for the re-election campaign for Mayor Richard Hatcher. In return, January 31, 1971, was declared "Jackson Five Day" in Gary. A ceremony was held in front of the family's old home to officially rename their street from Jackson Street to Jackson Five Street.

They came via helicopter and landed in the football field at West Side High School, where their concerts were to be held. As part of homecoming, a plaque was placed at the University of Indiana stating that the Jackson 5 gave "Hope to the Young". Their Congressman then presented them with the flag from the top of the State Capital.

At the City Hall, Mayor Hatcher presented Mr. Jackson and each of the J5 individual "keys to the city" of Gary. After the ceremonies at city Hall, the honorary denizens of Gary-namely the Jackson 5-rushed back to West Side High School, where they performed two concerts before a capacity crowd of more than 15,000 home town fans.

These award presentations and performances were filmed and later used in their TV special, Going Back to Indiana.

On September 20, 1971, the Jackson Five receive commendations for “contributions to American youth”. The Congressional Record reads that “despite their fantastic commercial success, members of the Jackson Five are continuing their education , and more such complimentary assertions.

    Billboard Magazine Awards:

Names Michael Jackson as Top Singles Artist
Top Singles Male Vocalist of the year in December

The Billboard Music Awards, (http://www.billboard.com/) sponsored by Billboard magazine was one of several annual United States music awards shows (among the others are the Grammy Awards, and the American Music Awards). It had been held annually in December until they went dormant in 2007, but will return in May 2011.

BMAs honors winners based on Billboard's year-end music charts, which are based on Nielsen data for sales, downloads and airplay. Awards were given for the top album/artist/single in every genre.

    Most awards:

    Janet Jackson - 33 Awards
    Whitney Houston - 30 Awards
    Michael Jackson - 29 Awards

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Music_Award

The Jackson 5 were one of very few in recording history to have their first four major label singles reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

The Jackson 5 became an instant sensation, with "I Want You Back" and its 1970 followups "ABC", "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There" all going to number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Best Selling Soul Singles chart.

"The Love You Save" charted atop the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and "I'll Be There" remained at the top position of the chart for four weeks, which is tied with "I Want You Back" for the most successful single for the band in the United States. The three singles were commercially successful internationally, mainly peaking within the top ten on music charts.

In 1971, Motown began a spin-off solo career for Michael, whose first single, "Got to Be There" became a Top 5 hit. Michael also sang the title track for the 1972 motion picture Ben. His other successful solo singles included "Rockin' Robin" and "I Wanna Be Where You Are" (both 1972)

July 1, 1972. Michael appears by himself to promote his Got To Be There album. Includes a chat with Dick Clark and solo performances of Rockin' Robin, Ben and I Wanna Be Where You Are. His brothers make a surprise appearance and are presented with gold discs, Michael joins them in a performance of Lookin' Through The Windows.

    Golden Globe Awards

    Best Original Song "Ben"

A Golden Globe Award is an accolade presented by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to recognize excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented is a major part of the film industry's awards season, which culminates each year with the Academy Awards.

The broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards, telecast to more than 150 countries worldwide, generally ranks as the third most-watched awards show each year, behind only the Oscars and the Grammy Awards.
The first Golden Globe Awards were held in 1944, at the 20th Century Fox studios. It has since been held annually, at various locations. Throughout the next decade, it will be held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

In 1964, the national telecast was distributed through a special segment on The Andy Williams Show.

The awards show income has enabled the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to donate millions of dollars to entertainment-related charities, as well as funding scholarships and other programs for future film and television professionals.

In 1972, Michael Jackson wins the [B]"Best Original Song"[B] in a movie for his song, [B]"Ben"[B], at the Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The theme song of the 1972 film, "Ben", it is a melancholy ballad to the film's title character, a trained/telepathic rat.

Michael Jackson’s fourth single, “Ben”, was released in August 1972. The song was written for a film of the same name .
The response to the single was massive; going to number 1 in the US and Australia and number 7 in the UK and selling over 2 million copies.
It became Michael Jackson’s first ever solo number 1 single. Michael became the third youngest artist to have a number 1 hit at just fourteen years old.
The song was nominated for an Academy Award in 1973, where Michael performed the song. “Ben” won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song in 1973.

    Ben (Special Edition) - OST - 1972 - mpg, 96.39 - MB -

    Song: Ben.
Sung & Performed by: Michael Jackson.
Song written by: Don Black and Walter Scharf.
    Album: "Ben" August 4, 1972.
    Song Record Label: Motown Records.
    Film: Ben.
Starring: Lee Montgomery, Joseph Campanella and Arthur O'Connell.
    Directed by: Phil Karlson.
Story and Screenplay written by: Gilbert Ralston.
US Theatrical Release Date: 23 June 1972.
    Distributed by: © Cinerama Releasing.

[B]Ben[B] is a 1972 film about a young boy named Danny (Lee Montgomery) and his pet rat, Ben. This film is a sequel to the 1971 film Willard.
A lonely boy named Danny Garrison befriends the rat that leads the swarm of trained/telepathic rats found in Willard. This rat, whom the boy names Ben (after he hears about the leader of a flock of killer rats), becomes the boy's best friend and keeps his spirits up in the face of bullying and his terrible illness.

However, the balance of power between Danny and Ben begins to shift, with Ben beginning to control the boy and the swarm becoming increasingly irrational and violent. Ben becomes violent when the townfolk use pesticide and kill his partner "Socrates".

Eventually, the police destroy many members of the rat colony. However, Ben survives. The film closes with Danny, determined not to lose his friend, tending to a badly injured Ben.

The film's title theme song, "Ben," performed by Michael Jackson, became a #1 pop hit single. Later included on Jackson's album of the same name, "Ben".

The song is calm and mellow, which contrasts with the horror content of the film. A live recorded version was released on the 1981 album The Jacksons Live! and eventually appeared on Jackson's Number Ones album in 2003.

Crispin Glover re-recorded a version of the song for the soundtrack of the 2003 remake of Willard.

Some american radios were a little reluctant to broadcast the song, considering the morbidness of the theme. But the public loving Little Michael bought about 1,7 millions copies.

    Academy Awards

    Nominated

    March 27

The Academy Award, also known as the Oscar, is an accolade bestowed by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry.
The formal ceremony at which the awards are presented is one of the most prominent award ceremonies in the world, and is televised live in more than 200 countries annually. It is also the oldest award ceremony in the media.

The AMPAS was originally conceived by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio boss Louis B. Mayer as a professional honorary organization to help improve the film industry’s image and help mediate labor disputes. The Oscar itself was later initiated by the Academy as an award "of merit for distinctive achievement" in the industry.
The best known award - the Oscar statuette (the Academy Award of Merit).
The root of the name Oscar is contested.
The trophy was officially dubbed the "Oscar" in 1939 by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
In late December ballots and copies of the Reminder List of Eligible Releases are mailed to around 6000 active members. For most categories, members from each of the branches vote to determine the nominees only in their respective categories.
The major awards are presented at a live televised ceremony, most commonly in February or March following the relevant calendar year, and six weeks after the announcement of the nominees. It is the culmination of the film awards season, which usually begins during November or December of the previous year. This is an elaborate extravaganza, with the invited guests walking up the red carpet in the creations of the most prominent fashion designers of the day.
The Academy Awards is televised live across the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii), Canada, the United Kingdom, and gathers millions of viewers elsewhere throughout the world.

45th Academy Awards were presented March 27, 1973 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles. The ceremonies were presided over by Carol Burnett, Michael Caine, Charlton Heston, and Rock Hudson.

The ceremony was marked by Marlon Brando's boycott of the Oscars and his sending of Sacheen Littlefeather to explain why he would not show up to collect his Best Actor award for The Godfather, and by Charles Chaplin's first competitive Oscar win for Best Original Score for his 20-year-old film Limelight, which was eligible due to a technicality. Chaplin had received an honorary Oscar the previous year.
Cabaret, Bob Fosse's revival of the Broadway stage musical, set a record for the most Oscars won without winning Best Picture.
The Best Music/Song prize went to Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn for The Morning After from The Poseidon Adventure.

Michael attends the ceremony with his parents.
Michael Jackson was the youngest artist to perform a nominated song with "Ben" at the 45th Annual Academy Awards in 1973.Jackson performed the song in front of a live audience at the ceremony.

Although Jackson had already become the youngest artist to ever record a number-one ("I Want You Back" with The Jackson 5, in 1970), "Ben" made him the third-youngest solo artist, at fourteen, to score a number-one hit single.

    1974

    American Music Award

The AMAs were created by Dick Clark in 1973 to compete with the Grammys after the move of that year's show to Nashville, Tennessee led to CBS picking up the Grammy telecasts after its first two in 1971 and 1972 were broadcast on ABC.
From its inception in 1973 until 2003, the AMAs have been held in mid- to late-January, but were moved to November beginning in 2003 so as not to further compete with other major awards shows (such as the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards) and allows for ABC to have a well-rated awards show during November sweeps.
Stories of artists being pressured to participate in one awards show over the other have been fodder for tabloid gossip and controversy. The controversy was muted somewhat after the AMAs moved to late November, avoiding being in the same awards season as the Grammys.
Also, the American Music Awards have nominations based on sales and airplay (even if the album is old), while the Grammys only nominate albums from their eligibility period.
Although the American Music Awards is primarily for artists that originate from the United States, international artists like Elton John, Def Leppard, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, George Michael, Rihanna, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Justin Bieber, Muse, and the Spice Girls have also won awards on the show, although this is primarily due to their popularity in the United States.
The most American Music Awards for a group belongs to Alabama who have collected twenty-three awards.
The record for most American Music Awards won held by Michael Jackson who has amassed twenty-six awards (twenty-four as solo artist), including one for "Artist of the Century", but not the poll of "Artist of the '80s".
The record for the most American Music Awards won in a single year is held by both Michael Jackson (in 1984), and Whitney Houston (in 1994), each with 8 awards to their credit (including the Award of Merit) , with which both artists were honored in the respective years).
In 2000 the AMAs held a poll to elect the Artist of the Decade for each previous decade of the Rock & Roll era. The results were:

    '50s: Elvis Presley
    '60s: The Beatles
    '70s: Stevie Wonder
