Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

We don't know for a fact that there will be remixes. We don't know what form any potential release will take yet as no details have been confirmed.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but there will be remixes, I'm sure. You'll see. It will be something similar to Thriller 25.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I DON'T WANT ANY REMIXES! :(

First priority - BAD Tour 2nd leg concert
Second priority - Demos, unreleased tracks
Third priority - maybe a video of Michael doing studio sessions for BAD, but doubt that would ever happen

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

The remixes of Thriller 25 has charted also recently we have seen that Glee versions of Michael's songs has charted as well. So in my opinion it's very possible that they can release a few remixes to chart the album - even make it number 1. It would be hard to do with a unknown not previously released song.

-------------------

edited to add

I would do this

bad album songs
4 remixes
4 previously unreleased songs

release the remixed "bad" (for example), release the album, give the "bad remix" to be used in pepsi commercials showing the commemorative cans. (use already well-known and loved song remix to chart the album)

release spike lee documentary to tv channels

release another single

release concert DVD

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

^^
that film spike lee is doing, could be interesting and include something of the recording sessions.
demo of "Hot Fever" (aka TWYMMF), that would be cool. Or the recordings with F. Mercury.

Recordings with F. Mercury has nothing to do with Bad album or Bad era. These songs are recorded 1980-1983 (Thriller era). And MJ Estate gave permission to Queen band to finish the songs and release them on their album.

It doesn't matter what you want, or what I want. Bussiness is bussiness. That's how music industry works. I don't have anything against remixes if they are done respectfully and with love for MJ. I like Thriller 25 and I would be happy if we get something similar but with more than 2 previously unreleased track. My priorities changed after MICHAEL album was released. Now I don't demand perfection, I just want real songs with Michael Jackson's vocals.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

^ It certainly doesn't matter, but I needed to express my disappointment about it somehow.

They're totally unrelated to this and they're part of a Queen project which the Estate approved of.

They wanted to do that but decided to scrap the idea of a new album. It's about the amount of material they have left, the quality of that material (the vocals they have from Freddie) and whether or not they can pull off a new album without having a 'barrel scrapping exercise' (in the words of Roger Taylor).

They're also pretty busy this year with a bunch of re-releases and maybe some new releases and I honestly don't see how and when they could release those tracks. Maybe next year, on some (long awaited) anthologies set.

My point is, there's no chance they'll be released on Bad25 and there's a very slim chance we'll get those tracks anytime soon, especially on a new Queen album, mind you.

Just used old one and corrected a bit :)

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I hope it isnt just gonna be remixes again

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

Sony should put more energy and creativity into this... Not like they did in 2001. It's okay with black bg, but people want something more, something else... I did two, nothing special, but reflects the energy of the album.

Yes, you are right. I didn't know that. But I really don't care if it is an album or EP with just Michael collaborations.. but according to Taylor those songs will be released by them (Queen members, not MJ Estate) later this year.

Taylor did confirm that the band will release a series of duets that Mercury recorded with Michael Jackson next year.

He said of this: "There's a couple of great tracks that Freddie recorded with Michael Jackson that Brian and I are working on and they are good. So at some point they will surface I think when we feel it's a good moment. I don't really want to ride any sort of wave there. So that's an interesting thing, but that will be probably later some point next year." (article from December 2, 2011)

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I won't bet on remixes this time.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

WBSS and the girl is mine remixes on thriller 25 sounds "over produced"

I know what he said and yeah, the tracks are indeed part of a Queen project, like I already said. Also, note the bold parts... ^^

Trust me, I know what Queen are up to this year and honestly, I don't see when they'll find the time to release those tracks and how exactly they'll release them. Unless they're releasing the long awaited anthology set this year (pretty much no chance in hell) then we won't be getting those tracks anytime soon.

Trust me, as much as I love Roger, I wouldn't take his word for it...

I won't bet on remixes this time.

Yup. I honestly don't think they'll put out remixes this year, just unreleased stuff... Hope I'm right!

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I would prefer massive commercial success on the singles chart and considering all the BAD material is 25 years old, that won't happen unless songs are remixed (like elvis 'a little less conversation') or contemporary artists are added to the song kinda like WBSS. sadly an unreleased mj track will not achieve massive success in it's pure form. The effect of singles success would hopefully be a successful album. Mj need success to continue the legacy

I don't understand why you think chart positions have a priority over the quality of the album. I don't even mind remixes, but I think there should be more unreleased tracks than remixes, or equal amounts (but definitely not more remixes than unreleased stuff).

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

Let's just wait and see and maybe we will be surprised. I think the estate is learning and trying to do what is best. I hope so. I just would like us to have something to enjoy. It will never be the same with Michael not being here but something positive for us.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

if we get a 2-disc album, it should be the first one with the original 11 Bad songs, and the second disc with 5 unreleased songs and 5 remixes, i wouldn't mind, as long as the remixes are good.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I hope that the album goes to number 1 and at least there is a top 10 single too.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I'd love to see the Bad Album rereleased with :
- 'The Moon is walking' as an extra
- The audio of the Moonwalker version of Smooth Criminal with the break down in the middle
-Audio of a version of The Way You Make Me Feel with the extra slow sexy intro

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I am looking forward to see what we will get for Bad 25! Something I made today:

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I really like the logo.

My main goal is the 3 disc box-set DVD of the Bad Tour (1st disc- Rome 88', 2nd disc- Wembley 88' and 3rd disc- Los Anglese 89' with each bonuses) let's not forget the Blu-Ray version too. I also wanted the Bad 25 album (with unreleased songs included) and maybe an official Bad 25 pic book. But if they don't release the Bad Tour on DVD and Blu-Ray, my Bad 25 plan will be ruined, then I'll be very angry and I will hate Sony forever.

Re: BAD 25 - 2012 - Official Discussion Thread

I'm getting very excited about this, hope they don't disappoint us. I've been doing some stuff too:
