I think a statement from the Estate will be made soon wether it be regarding the Xperia Z2 or Album.
However until the mystery issue with the Xperia Z2 is more clear I don't think we can be certain of whats going on regarding the album, although its obvious they are going to be using Michaels new material as a tool. If this is bonus material or a first listen (pre loaded) album remains to be unconfirmed as does everything else, other than what we are gladly seeing on twitter updates as of late.

I'm making prediction of a Album release end of April into May at this stage, who knows whats around the corner ...

I have a guess too.. I am guessing that no matter how great the release is, there will be fans that complain and not buy because something bothers them so much

a first listen (pre loaded) album

for a first listen it doesn't need to be pre loaded. In Jay Z's case Samsung gave away codes to Samsung owners that allowed them to download the album early - if they wanted.

I've thought June for a very long time...

Now we don't really even know what's going to be on the phone do we?? Is it just STTR single or full album?

This is what I say about that..

IF it is just STTR the album most likely would be released in June.. First single out for a bit before the album released, picking up steam..

IF the whole album is on there than the album would have to be released prior to June.. Possibly April, maybe May if the phone releases end of April, reason I say this is because it would not be smart to release an album on a phone 2 months prior than actual album when within those 2 months thousands if not millions of pirated music would be done lowering sales of the album...

So my honest guess!!!! Considering we have not heard of confirmation of an album yet and the phone is to release within the next 1.5 months. I'd say the probability is higher it's just the single!! And if that's the case the album would be out in June very likely with a second single released near that time frame..

I would like the album to be released on the phone that way we get the album faster but.... We will see!

Anybody who has read my posts may remember I have always said this album would be released in June 2014.
When I saw the announcement about the Sony phone I thought it might be a bit earlier to tie in with the phone's release date, but IMO June is still likely.

considering the timbaland and sony meeting only happened a few days back, it seems the wheels are in motion for this project.. i think we are all ready for the announcement but i'm sure it will be worth the wait in the end, we just gotta keep positive oh, and timbaland deleted his post about the meeting, which i imagine means it regarded something significant.

Didn't he also delete STTR from his soundcloud as well? If that's the case - that's he's deleting stuff- it shows that Estate / Sony isn't ready to announce anything and they want people involved not to mention and/or hint about it. Estate Online team is supposed to monitor fan forums etc, so they probably see how fans track such tweets/posts etc and how fans discuss those information. So if they don't want that info out in public, they can ask / warn people involved to not talk about it and/or delete what they posted.

Very sad, but I guess you are right.
Too many previously leaked songs, bad song choise, producers screwede up, album cover art is using thriller era pictures etc. etc. etc. - no doubt people will find something to complain about!
Sad but true. I just hope the majority is happy and enjoys the album.

This album should not be out by April. The Estate needs ample time to promote it and (as far as I'm concerned should) release at least two singles. Michael had awful promotion, and that album was only announced about a month before it was released.

If anything, the Estate should simply allow Xperia users to download the album in full before its release date.

It was simply removed cause it was just a bad rip from the Xperia ad, a very very bad rip that you can still hear the cast voices in it,,So He had to take it down cause it isn't an "official" snippet..It was quite misleading..... Brian Byrd (an executive producer on Thomas crown studio) is NOW in charge of that soundcloud account, I am sure he ripped the snippet himself and put it on his own but Timbaland told him to remove it cause it really really looked bad i mean i don't think Timbo would allow such a badly ripped snippet put on his official account that's my interpretation,I could be wrong of course

That's what Sky News assumed as well IMO. I guess it is because everyone expects MJ's music to be tied to the phone somehow and it looks like they again assume a pre-loaded phone like some members here.

However if once again we look to Jay-Z Samsung deal, any connection to the phone doesn't have to be at the time of the phone's release date. Samsung phone was released in April and Jay Z's album was released on July. So there was 2+ months between the release of the phone and the music.

Realistically I imagine they know that no one - not even die hard MJ fans - would pay $600 to get songs 3 days earlier. People would only buy the phone if they want to get that phone. So there's no need to tie MJ's music to the release of the phone in my opinion and MJ's album release could come weeks to months later than the phone's release.

my perfect timeline:

1st:Announcement of album title & some song names & mentioning of another important date (more details) the following week

Following week: Album artwork & streaming of 3 snippets of 3 different songs (being Slave, Chicago & ???) + hint at another date the next week

Next week: Release of full track listing, release of first single on itunes + preorder of the album + huge iTunes campaign, also twitter/facebook, fan campaigns

@ the end of week #4: Release the damn thing + interviews with all participants: Timbo, BBuxer, MPrince, LA Reid & all, Press conference by the estate & John Branca saying: "The music industry desperately needs a jolt & here you have it, THE KING is back! Two kings working togehter - even though our Timbo is a little smaller King, let's call him that, if he likes, because he did a great job, & stayed true to THE TRUE KINGS VISION as you can see & hear on the bonus disc full of all MJ untouched Demos!"

The Xperia Z2 can come out later this month in some countries and should come with STTR. The album may come out in June. I believe.

As was stated before in this thread, Michael Prince posted on instagram on march 15th 2013:
“So many hard drives spinning and humming, new tracks from MJ will soon be coming.”

And even earlier, on the 12th of january 2013 he twittered:

Then there was the Q&A thing here on MJJC, which was also a long time ago.


Given the fact that the majority of the work was done already before they started this project because
MJ (>>the MAIN artist<< of the project in question) sadly can not contribute since 2009.
So 'rushing' doesn't come to my mind.

I mean i don't want to sound impatient, but it's getting time.

It's almost 1 1/2 years since they started teasing us. It was august when timberlands statement was out, that he'll be finished by end of 2013.

Nobody should suggest "they shouldn't rush it" at least ANYMORE.
They definitely did not rush it this time around.

Sometimes i really want to ask:
"What the heck are they doing? What are they working on?"

Because, as stated before, MJ finished his work way before. He is (and should be) the main part of this project.
I mean other bands & singers are doing whole new albums, but they are not in the studio for 1 1/2 years. But MJ already did his work, the longer i think about it, it doesn't make a lot of sense that they're taking so long.
Probably they should not have teased us this early!

And while the album has not been rushed for a release, but they shouldn't rush the time between music release and promotion.. If they did all this work, and brought in these producers, and are trying to do something special - then they need to do this right!

The longer they take for this project to come out, the shorter will be the time gaps between the remaining 3 projects until 2017.

But to me it's not about to take AS MUCH time between announcement/promotion & release.
It's about being effective & using the time right & to good effect.

What is it good for if you have these little teasings (sony xperia ad) if there a weeks or even month between these promo tools & the actual release.

Create a big buzz in 4 to 6 weeks with huge promotion, so that the whole world knows about it within this 4-6 weeks - than release it.

Thats much more effective than you get an info, or a teaser, than there's month of silence - everything has died down then.

(IMO this was a big problem of Bad25 & the main reason why it resulted in relatively low sales. The promotion was spread out like crazy. In sepetember nobody knew anymore that something was announced in spring, pepsi promo being in the summer time, Spike Lee doc coming way too late..)

Full album by the end of May.

This is perfect. That's more than enough time to build hype and give the world two songs to branch off of.

Everyone is making great points about when/how the album should be released and I would like to add this to the mix...

In todays world of overly diagnosed ADD, short attention spans, sporadic purchasing, and impulse buying:

The truth is build ups/hype of today works differently than it did.. people forget and lose interest faster now, the best way to get people buying is trigger impulse buying with feeling of quick sudden excitement. Creating a need for NOW not later..

For example they could release the first single the same month as the album if they do it right...

I know I'm contradicting things that I've said in the past but it's true that in this DL age that people buy singles much more often than full albums... That being said, if there are lets say 3 singles before an album which the singles are spread out a bit, people will own what they believe are the best tracks on the album and have less need to buy the full thing..

Now if lets say 1 STRONG single is out, and the rest of the singles are released after the album is released than it would continue album sales at a stronger pace.. Thriller is a perfect example of that, THRILLER was not a huge song in public eye until the video was released in 1984.. much later than the albums release. Album sales spiked again, and carried Thriller to be the best selling album.

All in all, multiple singles need to be released, but we need not to worry tooooo much about when.. The only "when" factor to me that really matters is not to release them too closely together.. An average single on albums are released ever 3-4 months if they have good traction.

IF the album is released in Q2 which it most likely will, than singles being released through this and next year will continue strong sales for the next couple years.

Pharrell Williams will always regret missing out on working with Michael Jackson after songs he wrote for the King of Pop were rejected and given toJustin Timberlake instead.
The Happy hitmaker penned eight tracks for Jackson more than a decade ago, but the superstar's team rejected the songs and they ended up being used on Timberlake's 2002 debut album Justified.
Williams admits he was deeply disappointed not to have been able to work with Jackson, especially as the superstar later told him how much he liked the tracks.

I like Pharell Williiams. His songs Get Lucky and Happy make me think of Michael. I don't understand if Michael liked his songs then why did his team turn them down?
