Lets Discuss BAD concerts footage and what may have been shot on film ?

If Bad Tour Blu-Ray is possible it would be crazy not to release it. I rewatch the Man in The Mirror part almost everytime I watch the Blu-Ray version of Moonwalker. It looks so amazing and just imagine how the full concert would look! :)

Can there be any information on where the shows may be now? surely the estate have them? or are they still tracking all the filmed shows down?

They are electronically tagged, just like the Wembley show, but not only did they lose the list of tags, but Michael never left them to the Estate. So a lot of it is up in the air, and what they do find, it was because they got lucky. They filmed the making of the BAD album. All apart of the documentary, that will never see the light of day, the way it's going. The estate has the documentary film. They just don't have all the concert films. Everything filmed was placed on to VHS for Michael to watch. But the vhs tapes were never taken care of correctly and got lost in 93 because of Allegations in Neverland. So the vhs tapes they do have are very bad quality.

I'm sure they stored the original film reels. I hope Estate doesn't just let them rot in some warehouse somewhere.

With this situation that is currently surrounding the film reels, the best option would just to digitize all the shows! They need to be preserved, Restored, Cleaned.. if there is some surface scratches during the archiving process they will have to scan it with a water drip attached to it.. would make it a lot easier.. let's hope they do work on these original films, and we see Blu-Ray of the greatest tour ever performed by a genius.. I will be waiting for that day.. let's be hoping it will either be NYC or Aintree or Los Angeles or Rome.. they seem to be the greatest options, any of them would be great though, and if there is any shows with song's missing from the setlist, include them from the other filmed concerts as a bonus..

They filmed Los Angeles twice. The reason they filmed it twice is because the night before (final show) because Michael didn't like the angle of how they filmed his moonwalk for Billie Jean.

Have you got a source for this? My understanding is that no full concerts were filmed, only parts of shows for the Bad Tour Documentary Around The World and for the APOM music video.

He spoke to warren eagles who has confirmed on many occasions that two wembley shows were shot on film in full, and that they were planned for release but it never happened in the end. A tour Blu-Ray release is more than possible.

I've spoken to Warren Eagles, and some other sources that I can't name or else I can get in big trouble.

There is a whole documentary on the BAD era literally. 86 - 89 they filmed. Not the same company for all of it. But for the same project in total.

Did he say they were shot in full? or that they shot during the shows? Because as far as I am aware there was never a plan to release the concerts, the people in charge of the video and audio those nights at Wembley were there to record for Another Part Of Me and Around The World special. No one was told anything about a future release, they were all employed to create this special.

No they filmed a whole documentary, and full concerts, there are miles and miles of film. There is more footage then you thought, what they filmed will put the Wembley shows to shame.

In serious need of the full concerts, on a High Def Blu-Ray release.. knowing this information, it makes me sick that we've got the worst quality concert of all time.. let's keep hoping they will finally release a BD of this tour eventually.. it NEEDS to happen.

It was not "popular" quote on quote.

Tape, film, I have to honor my source(s). I know it is skeptical but I want to put it out there that it was transferred from film to a VHS for Michael, and it has not been found as far as I know.

If it really was shot on film, great ! The concern now is if it will see the light of day. The estate have everything cataloged so its up to them.
Edit:
The estate told us that the bad tour was shot on u-matic tape, not VHS. The july 16th show was originally shot on u-matic then transferred to VHS.
If the victory tour was shot on Beta (which is superior to VHS and u-matic) I don't understand the reason to shoot on an already dated tape format by the late 80s. U-matic was used in the 70s. Thats like me shooting a movie with a VHS camcorder. Even if the film does exist still -somewhere- what about the audio? Didn't MJ reject the audio for Liverpool? If he rejected the audio, how do we know the negatives weren't destroyed personally by MJ?

I have no doubt that back in the day, several shows were shot on film (either complete, or incomplete) but remember, this was 27 years ago and the estate even said record keeping was sporadic. Unless the estate comes out and publicly states that they have the original film stock in their possession then who really knows?

**UPDATE**

I have learned that my sources (NOT WARREN EAGLES) may have lied to me. So at this point I have no honest clue.

Did you have more talk with Warren Eagles than that on Twitter? Did he say more about the filmed concerts? :)

Nothing new yet, maybe this:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/mentelofficial">@mentelofficial</a> great gig footage looked cool but the concert never got released</p>&mdash; Warren Eagles (@warreneagles) <a href="https://twitter.com/warreneagles/statuses/487411544137805824">July 11, 2014</a></blockquote>

Just a reminder of the type of quality we're dealing with here :

If any complete bad tour show were released on film it would be a top seller.
