Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

I’m starting to think this is the end for MJ. His image and influence was starting to grow again these last years. But now, thanks to Safechuck and Robson, his image is getting destroyed. Again. Michael is not here to defend themselves and that is unfair. The general public is dumb as **** and they start everything what tabloid press publishes.

This is really frustrating and sad to see. But tbh I really don’t see anything good happening to MJ. It feels like they are getting what they want, destroying Michael.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Here in sweden, there has been no announcement about broadcasting the documentary. But the R Kelly documentary has been broadcasted here, and it was bought after it became such a hit elsewhere.

So I am pretty sure the documentary will be aired in sweden at a much later date than in the USA.

The best for MJ would be if the documentary aired worldwide at the same time, not to have it linger on for weeks or months throught the world.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

But personally I'd like to see something big happen before this trash even airs. We don't know what might be happening behind the scenes now, but what I'd love to see is the estate coming out of left field with a documentary on Netflix or maybe a big TV network, preferably even bigger than HBO. A documentary full of cold hard facts and anything needed to hack it up. Go into full detail about how it all started in the 90s. The extortion attempt by Chandler, show the audio conversation etc.

Go into detail about the maid and the Neverland 5, Arvizo, trial etc. Show the message or let Taj talk about how Michael helped him when Taj had told him about how he was abused by someone on his mother's side. Find a fitting name for the doc. I mean "Was Michael Jackson framed?" is the title of Geraldine's book but it would be perfect for a documentary, even if Leaving Neverland still has to air. MJ has been framed for years on end really.

But what's gonna happen is anyone's guess right now. My guess is that if there's going to be such a documentary it will be after LN has aired. I just hope people will still care after the damage has been done. I just don't know if I have that kind of faith in people. But like people here said, something similar to Making a Murderer would be really good for sure. Hell, if it were possible get Kathleen Zellner on it. The things she managed to unravel that Steven Avery's lawyers didn't are shocking.

I am afraid you might be right here unfortunately. Tajs needs to finish the parts of the documentary series that is dependent on other people before LN airs. Or else there is a risk people will jump the ship.

Its going to be beyond our worst nightmares. We can only hope that Taj can hold up and finish his project. Imagine the pressure and pain he must be feeling.

3 weeks left to play with.

The fair thing would have been to notify the Jacksons about this documentary in time, so they would have time to respond.

How did Dan Reed & company manage to do all this under the radar?

I thought the Estate would be monitoring what Wade was up to since the lawsuit was on appeal. Its going to cost the estate EVERYTHING that they had no Anthony Pelicano keeping up with Safechuck and Wade. I mean, the estate knew Wade was lying alot in the court cases, so they should have figured he could be up to something else once his claim was thrown out.

As if the circus could not get any worse :-/

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

It does seem odd that they managed to do this so secretly, but I guess it was easy. Low budget-just 2 people and some family members talking on a microphone to 1 guy.
I do think if anyone has HBO, they should cancel and say why.
If channel 4 has commercials, find out who the sponsors are and flood them with emails.
Going after the advertisers was quite effective with cancelling Paula Dean and Bill O'Reilly here in the States.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

The estate cannot monitor what Hollywood moguls want especially since the executors and their lawyers will never side with MJ against the people behind this campaign. Look what Jeff Bezos did when he thought there was a campaign against him. He had an investigator investigates everything. The estate could have done the same. Are you going to tell me they did not know about Weinstein planting stories against MJ in the press? bullshit. They knew and have known for years. What action have they taken? Have they filed a lawsuit against him. no. have they even tried to highlight that? to draw attention to that. No. nothing. nada. Even his own family won't dare to go there. there has always been something systematic about the accusations against MJ, a very systematic campaign from the very beginning.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

I have cancel HBO.

What i do not get why would you want to spread lies and not tell the truth. On Faccbook a comment was made the truth is boring and a lie is drama.

Why is it on Taj Jackson to make a documentary about his uncle, when there is a multi million/billion $$$ Estate behind the name Michael Jackson?

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

I actually think that this show is getting so much traction and not being questioned because the foundations have been laid over the last 25 years. The people in charge ALREADY thought MJ was a paedo and they see this documentary as a way to finally prove it.
I don't think they genuinely think so. They want him to be guilty - as a self-justification for their lies, as further money-making machine, and as a distraction.

There is an agenda they want to push. They want to shift ALL the attention to MJ from everyone else, especially the hollywood moguls. It is way deep and serious than what some might think. They have an invested interest in airing it.
I agree. Too much coincidences. The 'Me Too' movement started to explore some very powerful people, but suddenly most of the attention is on MJ, suddenly there is a 4-hour admittedly one-sided 'documentary', which is already provided with many platforms.

I disagree that no one would want to watch it-Making a Murderer was quite a social media phenomenon and a good 'Was Michael Jackson Framed' doc could be quite exciting and intriguing.
I agree that many would be interested in it (and even open to it), my concern is: who would make it (kudos to Taj for trying something, but it should be done by professionals, because it's their job), and who would air it? There's this decades-long agenda concerning MJ, who would dare to go against it?

Beyond our worst nightmare.. Well, there was the trial an we tried to support him and he lived abroad and received multipel lawsuits about his economy and he came back to America and was going to try a comeback and died.. After months of panic ”what if the concerts gets canceld. Feels so strange to have this discussion now. I think we should focus on how to win this in the long run. That should not be impossible with today because we know what it is all about from the beginning and have modern technique. We can’t get Michael back no matter what we do.

I say wherever it gets aired first, record it - leak it.. it will affect ratings when it airs in other places. The haters that are dying to see it are going to watch it anyway so I say hand it over and let them watch before it airs where they are in and when ratings come in in those countries- it will not be as significant as they hoped.

We must not be so defeatist. We stood outside the courtrooms. We filled London streets. We filled the New York streets.

Nothing has changed. We must continue to fight.

Am I reading this right? Did donald trump Jr really just make that Twitter post? A pro MJ post?

No, it’s not. Don’t say that! Nothing has happened yet. Keep fighting! We’ve come too far to turn back now. Stop dwelling on the negativity, although Michael’s not here, we are here.

Don’t worry about it. Michael Jackson and his legacy is not going anywhere anytime soon!

Where did you see that? Post a pic. Trump would commit political suicide if he did write something pro-MJ now! Even if it was just a fake news reference.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Brace yourselfs REALLY HARD.

The dutch TV company thats going to air LN in the netherlands have shockingly defended their decision by saying the story is POWERFUL. Does that not sound familiar?

I am sure Dan Reed had invited every major TV network from every country of the globe to see the film, to get maximal exposure.

Why do people defend the film because its powerful? What did they expect? People go and see movies all the time and cry because its powerful, but that does not make it right to air unfounded accusations from perjurers who have zero credibilty. In fact I dont think they should air that documentary regardless of how credible the people are. You should not be allowed to slaughter someone without due process.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Its being broadcasted in the netherlands the 8th march.

And in Denmark and Belgium and but I dont know the date for these countries so soon.

Probably the best way to promote this shambolic film is to have it broadcast worldwide with different dates during a wide time span.
I'm scared that it will air in so many coutrys.
I think its only a question of time now that a spanish and a french speaking country will air it and then its translated in the most spoken languages.
Remember that the spanish movie director in the MJcast said that they have send copies to spain cause he saw one.
Greed knows no bounderies.
The haters will record everthing and put parts of it on youtube to share it everywhere.
I hope the estate can make some kind of arangemants with youtube which forbits to upload parts of the documentary there.
But maybe copyright issues will make it not so easy.

Oh come on, stop saying that. Don't be all "doom and gloom" when nothing hasn't even happened. There are SANE people with COMMON SENSE out there too, don't forget that. Luckily not everyone is stupid in this world. And most sane people don't care for tabloid garbage.

We must not be so defeatist. We stood outside the courtrooms. We filled London streets. We filled the New York streets.

Exactly. This isn't our first rodeo. It may seem that "everyone" is out to get MJ....but if you look at the follower numbers of the people who spread this crap...the RTs they get...it's nothing. The reason they are all so hell bent on doing this is because they are FAILING and NEED ratings and they all know the only way to get it is to use MJ because they all know MJ sells and will get them ratings. That's why I keep telling everyone to NOT CLICK ON NEGATIVE ARTICLES....No matter how noble your causes and no matter how much you would want to set them straight....THEY DON'T CARE! They won't change their minds. All you do is help them get ratings. They don't care HOW they get the ratings....the Variety reporter revealed it when he tweeted that he knew MJ fans will flood him with tweets. He knew he will get clicks for his artice from MJ fans and attention from us. They just use us for ratings. THAT'S ALL THEY WANT. So DO NOT CLICK on their article, Do NOT GIVE THEM ATTENTION and what ever you do.....DO NOT WATCH THE DOCUMENTARY no matter how much you "want to see them lie" or want to see what they say to be able to correct it. DO NOT GIVE THEM RATINGS. If you look at the replies to EVERY SINGLE NEGATIVE IG post or tweet.....99% of them is PRO MJ. It seems its ALL negative because we keep lookng for anything and anyone who mentions MJ. But there are also a lot of positive things being posted. CONCENTRATE ON THE POSITIVE ARTICLES and tweets! I was grocery shopping today and they played MJ in the store.

I'm scared that it will air in so many coutrys.

But maybe copyright issues will make it not so easy.

The European Court for Human Rights still hasn't decided if relatives of a deceased person can sue for defamation and for their right for privacy. I think if European countries will air the mockumentary the Estate should look into European laws and loopholes and definitely sue and try to get justice in European Courts. They could have a chance here. Europe is more strict with these issues than the U.S. so they could have more luck in Europe. Also, from what I understand, in some states in the U.S. (I think Texas and Georgia and maybe others...relatives may be able to sue for "emotional distress" or something due to defamation of their dead relative.

Isn't Michael Jackson a trademark name or something? Also, shouldn't the Estate be able to at least sue for copyright if they use MJ's pictures, image, songs or footage from his concerts without permisson?

Also...one thing I was wondering....Dan Reed and some tabloid reporters have been slandering fans. Could we collectively sue them for defamation? Just trying to think out of the box and find any loophole we could use to stop them?

Sad.

It certanly will do damage but it wont end his legacy. I belive in the end michaels art will attract the ones that can see the truth. His work will be the introduction to his goodness.

The real battle begins if they try to mute him, then new generations wont be able to discover him.

The real battle begins if they try to mute him, then new generations wont be able to discover him.

But this will always be possible that new generations can discover and study him cause his music and the Jacksons music, with concerts, interviews, speaches etc. is all over youtube multible times with all the facts we have collected over the years.
People will continue to make remixes with his music and positive videos cause he will always beloved from millions of people.
Nobody can erase MJ, his art and the truth about him from the internet!
This is impossible!

Dan Reed is coming across just like Martin Bashir. Yep, the real journalist type. Again, though...slanted in their retrospect to sell how legitimate they are, Bashir and Reed. Reed never interviewed any of Michael's relatives and why should he? Because he couldn't hear the cash register bells clanging into his bank acct. He is playing the sympathy card for Jimmy and Wadey. FAKE NEWS at its best.

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entr...-jackson-dan-reed_us_5c500044e4b0d9f9be689ab0 This article just proves my point. Michael is dead and all Reed cares about are those Cash Register bells going off and all his docu is about is FAKE NEWS. Isn't that what Michael's entire solo Career is about, is FAKE NEWS and how many songs did Michael need to sing about to prove these allegations were just that...FAKE NEWS.

Where are the dozens and dozens and dozens of alleged victims that one usually hears about in these child molestation cases?

Jimmy and Wadey state that once they passed puberty, Jackson cast them aside for younger boys, leaving them confused and devastated. Right! Jordy was 12 and Gavin was 12. I haven't read that they were cast off because of puberty. Puberty had already stepped in for them at age 12 and then 13. It is also mentioned Michael didn't use their anus for sex, nope it was BJ's. Unheard of!!! Remember Michael loved to videotape everything and yet the FBI couldn't find anything, anywhere, including Michael's computers. Michael had his children after Evan Chandler accused Michael of coming between he and his family, mainly Jordy. This is too wierd, these lapse's in time. If it isn't about the money, then why the lawsuits???
